Mark Waid's first and probably best "JLA" arc. Though a writer of considerable talent (and paired here with a host of decent artists), he attempts to follow his predecessor, Grant Morrison, with one of Morrison's typical "big idea" stories and doesn't quite hit the mark (naturally, Waid's best when writing in his own voice, typically more intimate than Morrison's). Nice. Batman pulled a Prof X, or Prof X pulled a Batman. Batman's contingency plans to deal with rogue JLA members gets leaked out, causing great distress to JLA members who get their asses beat.
The JLA worries that they can't trust Batman, causing a rift in their relationship, a rift that an Uncle Jessie talk at the end of the episode can't fix.

Excellent storyline. Batman ends up as a villian of sorts and that leads into the Infinite Crisis that has shaped up to be a good set of stories.
