Oh boy. Where to begin?

First of all; this book ain't nothing but some weird rituals that involve sex, sex and lots of sex. And not in a good way. This is just weird! Sex to complete various rituals, sex to save lives, sex to rid of bad magic, sex to cleanse - you get the drift.

This book made me want to cry at how bad this story is, and it made me want to throw my Kindle at something hard. And I love my Kindle. Can't live without it. In short, this book is disturbing. How was this ever published?...more

Not a bad book, at all, especially for the first in a series. Lyon in the leader of the Ferals, the nine surviving shifters who battle evil forces to protect mankind. If I had finished Desire Untamed by Pamela Palmer, I would have given it one of the lowest grades for a book this year. I can understand how some authors are tying to ride on the coat tails of Christine Feehan or J.R. Ward, but this book that tried to channel these well know authors, reads like bad fan fiction.

Give me a TigHE… VHyper… PaentHer… ZapHene… Foxx and Wulfe.

Oh, and how could I forget the half woman, half flamingo chef they have called Pinky?

I typed this whole review but GR totally ate it. I frickin hate this site sometimes.

So, the new review will be simple because I can't remember everything that I typed before. The story was a very interesting opener to the Feral Warriors series. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and the story held my attention all the way through.

Kitaba büyük umutarla başlamıştım. Özellikle girişte şok etkisi yaratmıştı. Ama kitap ilerledikçe önce ana karakterimizin Kara MacAlister'ın çok korkak olduğunu gördüm. Bunu bir tür büyüye bağlamıştı yazar ama kitabın bu yönlerini hiç inandırıcı bulmadım. Özellikle karakterler arası konuşmalar hiç yaratıcı değildi ve sürekli "I love you" tarzı konuşmalar ise inanmadığım bir aşkı bana satmaya çalışıyordu.

Karakterler şeklini aldıkları hayvanların adlarını taşıyorlar. Lyon (lider), Jag, Tighe, Foxx, Hawke, Wulfe, Hougar, Paenther,Vhyper ve bir filamingonun bedenine sıkışmış olan pembe tüylü Pink. Bunlar Feral Warriors takımı ve onların Radiance (aydınlık) olan Kara...

"Sen bizim Aydınlığımızsın, bizim gücümüzün rehberi. Bizim hayatlarımızı elinde tutuyorsun"

Kurgu dışarıdan bakıldığında hoşunuza gidebilir. Ama yazar anlatmaya başlayınca olaylar inandırıcılığını kaybediyor. Her şeyin gereksiz bir yere sekse balanması da beni bunaltı. Karakterlerin sevişme istegi ile ilgili bir sorunum yok ama mantıksal olarak açıklandığında, açıklama bana yeterli gelmedi.
Yazarın diğer ünlü serilerin yolundan gitmeye çalıştığı hissine kapıldım. Zorlama olduğunu hissettim.

Bir başka konu ise Aydınlık adı ile anılan bu karakterin ölmüş adamları tekrar hayata gertirmede çok başarılı olmasıdır. Mucizeler bekliyoruz bu tür kitapları okurken ama bir sınır içinde olan mucizeler daha hoş oluryor ya da belirli bir zamana yayılarak yapılınca daha inandırıcı oluyor. Kitabı sırf inadımdan bitirdim.Üzgünüm ama bu kitabı öyle pek kimselere önermem.

Kara kendini insan sanan ama aslında Theries ırkının bir üyesidir. Kendinden önce ki Aydınlığın ölmesi ile güç 3 ay önce gögsünde belirenb ir işaretle onun olmuştur. Artık doğa ananın sunduğu gücü Daemonlar ve diğer gölge tarzı yaratıklarla savaşan Vahşi Savaşçılar'a (Feral Warriors) aktarmakla yükümlüdür. bu savalçılardan biri onun Eşi olacaktaır. Ama büyücü olam mageler işin içine girer ve tüm kahramanlarımızın hayatını tehlikeye atar. Savaşçılarımızın evinde bir casus vardır.

When you read as much PNR as I do you start to see the same themes occuring all over the place. Vampire warriors with a heart of gold, alpha shifters with control issues, betrayal from within, society structures different from the norm and a first book heroine who knows nothing about the world and so gives the author a chance to explain the world they've created.

This book isn't any different... and you know what - it really didn't matter. For a first book it wasn't bogged down in world building...more

Though the new Radiant One has just suffered a great loss, he forces her back to the Therian compound to commence with the ceremony needed to reinvigorate them.

Kara Macallister is sure the wild man who broke into her mother's house is a nutcase, but when they are attacked by creatures usually relegated to nightmare's she's willing to listen. Lost and confused after the loss of her mother she agrees to join him and his kind only to find herself embroiled in a strange subculture she never knew existed and in war against an evil that threatens her very existence.

Not only must Kara and Lyon fight for their lives but also the strangely compelling attraction to each other neither of them want much less understand.

I'm not sure how long the author has been writing but this book shows its immaturity- at least in the Paranormal Romance realm. The shapeshifting world the author is playing in is an easy hook for me, but there is much to be desired in the way Palmer pulled it together. Feeling scattered and just plain silly at times (Lyon's first name is "Roar"), Desire Untamed certainly doesn't rank very highly in the annals of paranormal romance for me.

In DU, the sex is borderline erotica- usually a good thing for me- but the characters felt flat and underdeveloped in the author's need to explain the mechanics of her world, so much of the steam factor fizzled.

As with the unoriginal "un" title- hello? Can we not come up with something new now?- the book felt like a copycat version of many other pnr's out there rather than the addition it is meant to be.

Still, I'm all about the shape shifters and, though I skimmed at no time did I want to give up on the book- plus she piqued my interest in the rest of the group- so I may pick up the next in the series. 2.5 out of 5 from me.(less)

My Thoughts:

Although I used other series to compare this to in the beginning of my review please don't think it is trying to copy those stories. This tale was unique on it's own and for a first book in a series I totally enjoyed it. We got a good handle on the world and how it works. The role of the feral warriors was explained and I'm sure we will find out more as we go along. The culture which is very ritual based with sex used as a conduit for most of the rituals. Which makes sense when you strip away humanity and focus on the animal. The character building was really good although I do feel there were some pretty big holes left in Kara's background. I would like to have known how she came to be with human parents. Now this might be explained in a further book...but it seemed like necessary information to have in this book. Lyon is true alpha in every sense of the word and as chief of the Feral Warriors his control and personality, the fact he was more of a loner really fit will with who he needed to be.

I really enjoyed this read and am going to start right in on the second book.

3.5 star read for me rounded up and a recommendation ..if you enjoy shifter books and a good strong group of men fighting for the survival of the world as we know it...this is a series for you. Pamela Palmer writes an easy read and you won't be able to put it down.

Ok, so I had high expectations to this book but it didn't live up to it.
I read one mess after another and I just couldn't take it anymore.

First of all, I know Lyon manipulated Kara's emotions and such, but who would be so focused on a hot guy with her dead mother right beside her?
That's just wrong!

And how ridiculous it is that everytime he touches her, Kara orgasms?

Okay, now that we have that out of our system, let us talk about the story behind that cover. I was a little confused at first just because you have to keep track of the many Feral Warriors that are introduced in the first chapter. While their names give you the clue in what animal they become, there still is quite a few of them that you have to remember which personality goes with which character. After getting it all straight, we are introduced to Kara who is taking care of her dying mother. Since the Feral Warriors are in need of their Radiant -- who is the source of their power -- Lyon searches for the new Radiant and finds Kara. He tries to kidnap her but she is stubborn and strong. When she escapes and rushes back to her mother, she finds her mother taking her last breaths. When Lyon tries to convince her of her lineage and her new destiny, she questions her mother on her identity. Her mother confirms that she is not related to her by blood with her final breath. With nothing left, Kara goes with Lyon back to the Feral Warrior House.

I will say there are some moments that you will be rolling your eyes at some of the actions of all characters involved. Just go with the flow and carry one my faithful readers. It does improve. Yes, you will still eye roll, but you will accept it and enjoy it. I really liked the Mage and the Therian races battling for control. I was a little wary of the way the ceremonies are performed, -- especially the ascension ceremony -- but hey, I have read stuff that would put this in the tame category. Just wanted to mention that sexy is definitely part of it for the tamer crowd. Once Kara accepts what she has become, the author throws in another twist and leaves the Feral Warriors questioning her. This leads to some sexy scenes between Kara and Lyon. When this problem is revealed to be something else, the author again throws some surprises at the reader. Author Pamela Palmer is very good at throwing the reader down another path than what is expected.

While the ending does have a Happily Ever After for certain characters, you can also tell that the story is far from over. It brings promise of the other characters getting a book and surprises to keep you guessing. I am curious to see how the author is going to redeem a certain character and how she is going to fix the others. I can't wait to start the next book!(less)

As Lyon tries to calm and protect her, he finds he’s unable to keep himself fully under control around her. She’s got him completely enthralled with her more-than-willing attitude and luscious, responsive body. When his beast gets the best of him, no one can tame the raging desire that flows out of him, except maybe Kara. It may just be too late when they finally figure that out.

There are twists and turns along this ride. One minute I’m smiling to myself because a moment shared was so touching and sweet, and the next I’m crushed because of something that happens or that they’re reminded of. Just when you think they’re getting something right and everything will be ok, it all backfires and they’re in even deeper trouble. I also had some laugh out loud moments, such as when the Shaman orders everyone to get laid to rid them of magic. For some reason the song “Sexual Healing” then got stuck in my head *giggle*. There were a few mysteries that I could guess at pretty easily, but there were also questions that were much harder to answer and some surprises that I couldn’t see coming.

We see primarily from either Lyon’s or Kara’s eyes, but occasionally from someone else’s when it’s pivotal to the plot, so we feel the impact of every event that’s experienced, especially the emotions Lyon and Kara feel when together. The book is very well written, and while it’s a romance about animalistic men, Pamela Palmer shows their gentle and caring side, and does it without using any vulgar language (not that it’s a bad thing). However, she does show their animalistic side in their rituals…let’s just say, they’re not shy.

I really enjoyed this first in a series story. Led by Lyon, the Feral Warriors are the last (nine) of the Therian race of shapeshifters. They need a Radiant, a female with the power to replenish the energy needed for them to shift into their animal forms. Since their last Radiant has just died, another female has been marked to take her place. The only problem is, they can't find her. Time is dwindling as are their powers, so they use up the last of their power to bring about Lyon's change since he's the Finder. The trail leads to Mississippi, where he finds Kara. But they're not out of the woods yet: Kara doesn't know she's a Therian and a Radiant and what that means for her. She has been raised as a human all her life, and more recently she's been caring for her dying mother. That is until Lyon comes for her and shatters her beliefs. Lyon's appearance in her home leads his mortal enemies, the draden right to her doorstep. With her mother dead and no where else to go, she allows Lyon to take her with him.

Lyon thought most of his problems would be solved once he found the Radiant, only he wasn't prepared to find her so cute and irresistible, and clueless. He doesn't have much time to explain everything to her or to prepare her for her new role. After she accidentally witnesses some of the warriors in mid shift, she's terrified, and rightly so. Not only do the warriors scare her, but something about Feral House amplifies her fear. The only person she seems to feel safe with is Lyon. He doesn't want a mate, but he's finding it increasingly difficult to resist her. Only the ritual of the Pairing will tell if she's the one for him. Finding her mate is necessary since he will be the one to guide her through learning her powers and help her ascend. But oh dear, things don't go as planned.

Lyon and Kara made a great couple with sizzling chemistry anytime they were in the same room. Lyon knew he had to stay away from her for obvious reasons, but I liked the fact that he placed her protection above the rules. Kara spent the majority of the book trying to escape and shirk her duties. Honestly though, I don't blame her. I wanted to smack Lyon upside the head so many times for not “listening” to her fears and feelings about the house and her nightmares. When he finally devised a sound plan to test her, I thought “about bloody time!” Towards the middle the drama starts to amp up, and my heart nearly breaks for her when Lyon makes a startling discovery and the consequences of that nearly get her killed.

There was a lot of out-of-the-ordinary sex in this book. Sex to flush out the taint of bad magic, sex to bring someone back to life, and sex as part of the Radiant's ascension with the other warriors present (but not looking) *chuckles* Regardless, the suspense and the passion make this a favorite for me.(less)

I could not put this book down and even had to sleep in the spare bedroom because I could not turn the light out and put it down. I woke up the next morning and finished it. It was that good! P.P. is one of my new favorite authors now.

Ok I think I'm hooked. I truly love true alpha males and all the Feral Warriors are alphas in spades. I believe I am mostly intriqued with Hawke and Jag but since this is about Lyon, I'll give him his due.

The first of a new series called the Feral Warriors, this SMOKIN' HOT book does a fantastic job of setting up Pamela's new paranormal world. She didn't bog the story down in setting up the details, instead she let them unfold as the story progresses. You learn new insight alongside the heroine Kara as she discovers her destiny.

Not a bad read. Yes, it does remind me of the Black Dagger Brothers, due to the warriors names. Which, can I be honest? WHY on earth would you name your characters their animal names, only trying to be different by adding an 'H' or an extra "x" I mean really? Will it hurt their reputations if you name them something normal like Cade? Xavier? Anything but Lyon, Paenther, Hawke... Bleh. There are many ways to make each different series unique though. I like what Palmer has created with this series. She has mixed her series with immortal shifters of various species. The Feral Warriors (Therians) protect the world from the ancient evil that is trapped in the Daemon Blade. These warriors get their power and strength from the Radiant. There is only one, when one dies a new one is called forth and must ascend into this position. The Radiant channels energy and power from the Earth for the warriors use. There is a magical fantasy element within this book.
Kara is the new Radiant. She has lived as a human away from the Therian race her entire life. She has no clue that magical shape shifting beings exist. I loved Kara’s sporadic calm. At the beginning of the whole you must come with me and fulfill your destiny she runs, steals a car and returns home. Then she goes with Lyon willingly. Then she decides she’s not happy with being told this man is your mate and you must be with him and she flees again. I liked how she really was trying to give this a try. She was weary, had full rights to be weary, but she was still willing to go with idea of ascending to the position of Radiant. During the first ritual to get Kara into her Radiant role she is given a mate. Kara immediately knows the wrongness of this. Lyon is the one she has an immense attraction to, not Vhyper, even though Lyon swears the Pairing is NEVER wrong.
Lyon feels this strong attraction to Kara that he denies. She is not meant for him and he does not want to encroach on his fellow warriors mate. Lyon is a good man. He is trying to do the right thing. He knows the importance of his races survival depends of the ascension of the Radiant. As the Chief he knows something is amiss in the Feral House. His warriors are quick tempered and irrational. Kara fears the house to the point that the fear that roles off of her is a tangible thing. As Chief he has to protect Kara, she is in danger, Lyon knows this, he just does not know exactly where the danger is coming from. Lyon gets to the point that he even believes that Kara is the reason for the wrongness of what is going on with the warriors that he has been with for centuries. The action in this book keeps the reader entertained to the point that this book is impossible to put down. Just when you think you have the why’s of it figured out there is another twist in the plot.
I enjoyed this book. I loved the uniqueness to the world that was created for these warriors. I plan to continue reading series. I am very glad that I have more of the series on hand so that I can go right into the next book. I am very eager to see where book 2 picks up. Many conflicts were solved with the close of the first book, but there are still some unresolved issues.

This is a new author for me, and I wasn't sure what to expect.. Turns out I loved this book! I loved the instant attraction between Lyon and Kara, loved the fact that the Pairing doesn't go as planned, and loved the other Feral Warriors, who were all(ok, mostly) verrrrrry hot.. Can't wait to read about the rest of them! I'm going straight to Tighe's story now:-)

I'd say a must read for any warrior brotherhood fans:-) Think Alexis Morgan/Lara Adrian but for shapeshifters:-)

Yet another book that I had a hard time coming up with how many stars to give it. I think 3.5 would be a better rating. I enjoyed the book, like the characters well enough and the plot kept me turning the pages but there were just some things that were pretty hokey and made me laugh when they shouldn't have made me laugh so I couldn't give it five stars.

This is the first in the series by by Pamela Palmer. It is the story of Kara a pre school teacher who is currently taking care of her dying mother. Along comes Lyon a Therian Feral Warrior to retrieve Kara and bring her back to Feral Headquarters. It appears that Kara is the "Radiant". A being that gives the warriors back thier energy that allows them to fight The Mage and the draden who are thier enemies. Kara, the heroine, is a short (5'5") preschool teacher who is scared out of her mind when a man appears in her kitchen demanding that she bare her right breast. When he is able to calm her unnaturally, she is overwhelmed by lust for him.

Lyon, a Feral Warrior, is not unaffected by Kara - an attraction he doesn't welcome as he kidnaps her and grows hard. He doesn't want a mate but Kara keeps making him forget this. When the pairing ritual chooses someone else for Kara, Lyon is stunned and his beast is frantic.

Palmer is so skilled at creating characters the reader cares about and is masterful at describing sensual and sexy scenes.

I was forced to read the series out of order but it has made no difference as these books can be read in any order but I still would have liked to have read them as they were written. I still have to read the third one but so far I think this first one is sexiest, most titillating of the series. It is seriously hot. There is a very arousing scene where Lyon heals Kara's torn up hand with his tongue which has her coming in no time. Then when Lyon prepares Kara for the pairing ritual, Lyon feels he'll never survive the passion both of them feel. Every time Lyon kisses her, she comes. He must be one heck of a kisser. And then he has her coming not once or twice but twelve times out among the boulders. Kara is one lucky, lucky lady. {big grin} May we all be blessed with our own "Lyon".

I absolutely enjoy the books in this series. Paranormal romance, urban fantasy and shape shifter genre fans shouldn't miss this series. Read this book and you'll be hooked and want more.

I love reading books where the author has a group of warriors (any kind) and they have a bond and trust. When this book had this, I had to read it. But I was solely disappointed. This book didn't have that at all. I mean, one of the guys slept with on of the other guys girlfriends-soon to be mate! And he and a few of the others were complete a-holes. It was ridicules. The Feral Warriors are a race of 9 surviving Therians. Therians are an immortal shape shifters that are out there to protect their race as well as humans from Daemons. Daemons are evil! They try to take the power from the Feral Warriors and use the power wrong (bad ways). So these 9 Feral Warriors try to keep the Daemons at a minimum. The Feral Warriors need energy from the earth to shape shift. They get this energy from a Therian called A Radiant who is female. A Radiant gives the 9 Feral Warriors strength through energy that she radiant to them so they can shape shift and fight. The Feral Warriors use their strength to take out the Daemons. There are also Mages that use magic but they are rivals of the Feral Warriors.

Once I got into this series, it was so smooth sailing on this 'world this author created. I was understanding from the first page on. Author Pamela Palmer so gives this series a visual picture of everything! Too her site has an area devoted to this series that explains this all along with the characters. The 9 Feral Warriors are 9 different shape shifters. The first book is starts where their past Radiant has died and they need a Radiant. The longer they don't shape shift, the worse each of these Feral Warriors get (they go 'into their skin', in other words, their animal comes out in their fighting mode and they fight among their Feral Warriors friends. Lyon, is the leader among the Feral Warriors. You will love the names this author created for each of the 9 Feral Warriors! I love Lyon but too I'm in love with many of them, especially Tighe and Paenther. And yes, the names are similar, sometimes, to what they shape shift to. Since these Feral Warriors need a Radiant to get stronger, As a leader of the Feral Warriors, Lyon leads the Feral Warriors to a ritual that binds one of them as a mate to the Radiant Kara. Kara, their Radiant, is living among humans and she has no ideas she's of the Therian's race. When she's taken to learn her skills as a Radiant, she is resistant to this whole cause being so new and so much change for her.Too she has falling in love with Lyon but he's appears through the ritual, not designated to be her mate. This author will take you through this whole process that will lead to a beautiful HEA and too set you up to anticipate every one of the Feral Warriors HEA. The romance and passion between Lyon and Kara is intense, romantic and sizzling! I for one so can't wait for their books! Great thing is that book two, OBSESSION UNTAMED is out the end of July and the 3rd book, PASSION UNTAMED is out at the end of August. So we'll have the treat of 3 books in a row (plus her Time Travel as Pamela Montgomerie SAPPHIRE DREAMS on July 7th!! I so hope to be able to get this and bring you a review. I too plan to read each of these books and review.
