This could actually inspire rather amusing birthday cards:
(on front of card) Dear, I have a present for you.
(inside) It's right here, every moment of your life.
Breathe in (unless you're in China, have severe allergies, or are around smokers).
Enjoy (unless you have insomnia and really would prefer to go to sleep).
Take note of each second (unless you're taking a test, in which case checking your watch would only waste time).
See your world anew each moment (unless you're taking a memory or other...more

this book gave me the chance to look at me who have been living in the world. Especailly, about my passed, present, and my furture.....
for a long time, i think that it is not important for me to do my life in present. but, present is my present(Gift). i will do my best in my life. and i will prepare for my furture.

This was written by the same guy as "Who Moved My Cheese" and is an excellent short little motivational book for people who need a better perspective on life. You can easily read it in a few minutes and I'm very glad I found it because it has helped me see things differently. Dr. Johnson has a unique gift for teaching you things about life through parallels that anyone can understand. I think his work is brilliant and I would recommend it to anybody who doesn't mind self-help books. My husband w...more

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets book Dumbledore announces while being forced to leave Hogwarts that “Help will be given to those at Hogwarts who ask for it”. I have found that it is true for me in a different way. It seems as though some unseen identity has decided that “Help would be given to me through books whenever I need it and am ready for it”. It has happened to me before and it has happened again. I have been reading “The Present” by Spencer John...more

This was my first Spencer Johnson read. I must say it is pragmatic for people who are so much worried about their past and future that they don't realize the importance of the gift which they possess right now - "The Present". Its a nice book which conveys its message in form of a simple and light story, which lets you think more while you read. As the book itself says that you can either learn a lot if you want to or nothing. So if you stop by after every few pages, relating to yourself, I am s...more

This book is pretty lame. Sit on the toilet for fifteen minutes and you’ll finish it. Play with the title for ten seconds and you have the whole book figured out. It has 74 pgs (could have been written in seven?) and is published by Doubleday. I finished it over three years ago and remember feeling a beautiful blanket of blah wrap over me.
What is it about? The importance of the present moment! There you go. It is like Who moved my Cheese, yet for me, nothing like that book at all; that is funny...more

The story tells about a precious present that when found will make you forever happy! You can't get it by wishing, or looking anywhere, because you already have it. Once you realize what it is, you will be content... only you can give yourself the precious present.
This book taught me to make the most out of each moment and to learn that good or bad, the present is where you are and what matters most... go with it. You can't go back and relive or change the past. Future plans aren't always the sa...more

Pretty Basic yet a good story. This "airplane read" (cuz I can read it in under 1 1/2 hours) was a business/life fable. I like this brand of learning by having someone write a good story. What seemed to be missing was the big points in this message. Don't get me wrong, the underlying learning in this story is very good. Live in the present, take from the past only what helps you and focus on plans in the future. I just told you the whole book...see what I mean about basic?

This book is simple, short and sweet (a 15 minute to half-hour read.) Depending on where you are with your mindset and personal development, I expect that it will be found as either rather profound, or possibly a disappointed "that's it?!!" It is another tool to help examine your mindset and daily approach to life. If you've not previously been exposed to this from other sources, it will likely be profound, and change the way you live!

The title of this book replies to all your queries only when you finish reading it. I don't think anyone reading this book would like to leave it half way.
Loved the way time is portrayed by the author, keeping it a clean metaphor for the gift of life and also symbolic to the times in one's life. A positive present to the readers by the author.
Keeping this Present with one keeps his mind present and pleasant.

This book has been an eye opener for me. It emphasizes the fact that in order to live a happy life "live" in "the present". But also learn from your past so that you don't repeat the same mistakes. And always have a goal for the future. Savor each moment of your life because its yours. A very good self help book. I recommend this to anyone who is lost in the rigmaroles of life.
When I first started reading this book, I found it a little cheesy because it is written in such a simplistic way, and the story line is somewhat bland. However, it got better and it had some valid points. My favorite quote in this book is, "It is hard to let go of the past if you have not learned from the past. As soon as you learn and let go you improve the present."

I really think this book is amazing. I felt like I was the guy who was having trouble figuring out life and I definitely needed to hear this story. I think this will change my life and how I look at life. I think thy everyone should read this book. I will continue to read this every now and again and hopefully pass on what I've learned to others.
I LOVED the calligraphy--so pretty! I read this to my Mom as she was making soup this morning and I was drinking coffee in my fleece pajamas. It reminds me that I need not ruminate about the past or worry about the future; I can learn from the past and plan for the future but to be happy I can experience the present moment.
I thought this book was a big stretch.... Not very interesting. Not very well written. Okay, so the message was to live in the present. I get it. But, this is so contradictory to all the other popular management and leadership theory that I had a hard time taking this very seriously. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
