This is an amazing analogy about the balance between work and play. I've used it for my evening programs and guided hikes as a National Park Ranger as well as in my classroom with fifth graders (most recently before I took them camping overnight!). There are other books which are similar by this author.

This child's introduction to Henry David Thoreau and the brilliant minds of his time is destined to become classic children's lit. Plus, we're partial because our son is named Henry. This is the first of a series. Read them all, again and again.

What a great story! A beautiful way to introduce Thoreau and his ideas, this book asks the question, "What is more important, the journey or the destination?" As always, I love Johnson's unique illustration style.

A great children's book about Henry David Thoreau as a bear. Another of our family favorites!
