When pretty hairdresser Delaney Shaw returned home to Truly, Idaho, for the reading of her stepfather's will, she planned on paying her respects and getting out of town. But it seems the will has some unexpected stipulations-like the one that says if Delaney wants her inheritance she needs to stay put and have nothing to so with sexy Nick Allegrezz...more

4-4 ½ stars – Contemporary Romance

Rachel Gibson has a knack for making me enjoy her books, despite that her heroes are often players and jerks who exhibit at least one major asshat moment with the heroine.

Nick is the boy who teases, taunts, and pulls the girl’s pigtails because he secretly likes her. But in this case, it was a snowball in the face that gave the heroine twin black eyes. And as an adult, he continues his mean streak where the heroine is concerned, but it’s all because he’s fiercel...more

I just love Rachel Gibson. This story was a really good one. You have a real bastard who controlled everything around him. He dies and tries to control from the grave through his will. There is the bastard [literal] son who he never recognized, his step-daughter who he did, and his wife. The author weaves a nice star-crossed tale. The timing just never seems right for these two, until it finally is.

I loved the characters and the back-story. The only issue I had was the story dragged for...more

Rachel Gibson's books are pretty much hit or miss with me. (There is usually more missing going on than hitting.) Since I have given up on this author and have stopped buying her books, I don't know what possessed me to re-read TRULY, MADLY, YOURS a second time around. Maybe it was because I am a sucker for reunion romances? Or maybe because I needed a good piece of fluff after a hard day's work? I don't know, but I have to admit I did enjoy this book more than I did the first time I read it.

After liking Tangled Up in You and Sex, Lies & Online Dating, I went and bought just about Gibson's entire backlist. Some I like and some I didn't finish.

Truly, Madly Yours is one of those I didn't just Really Liked but truly loved. It gripped me from the first page to the last, making long so much for Nick to get together with Delaney. I rarely resonate this much with the H & H but TMY is one of those few.

Nick is the quintessential bad-boy down from the top of his head down to the Harle...more

DNFed.

I have enjoyed Ms. Gibson’s Chinooks hockey team series very much. I was hoping the horrible cover art was not a reflection on the writing in Truly, Madly Yours and that I would enjoy this book as much as I have the Chinooks books. Unfortunately, the part I managed to slog through was full of lazy, sloppy writing. There’s a then/than error in the first chapter. Instead of real characterization, the heroine is a cliche “quirky hairdresser with daddy issues who is obsessed with designer sho...more

Cover & Title - Cover 1/5, seriously it totally put me off reading this. Title 4/5.
Favorite line - "I have loved you my whole life, Delaney. I can't remember a day when I didn't love you. I loved you the day I practically knocked you out with a snowball. I loved you when I flattened the tires on your bike so I could walk you home. I loved you when I saw you hiding behind the sunglasses at the Value Rite, and I loved you when you loved that loser son of a bitch Tommy Markham. I never forgot...more

As far as contemporary romance goes, Rachel Gibson is always on my must buy list. She is an absolute genius at weaving original, quirky tales that involve irresistibly hunky men and independent women who don't take crap off anyone.

Truly, Madly Yours was the first book by Ms. Gibson I'd read. The moment Nick (the hero) rolled onto the pages on his motorcycle I instantly fell in love with him. The dynamic between him and Daisy is a constant tug-of-war of bickering while trying to fight the sexual...more

Ok. Not great.

Nick frustrated me when he would disappear for days after kissing or being intimate with Delaney and without a word to her.

STORY BRIEF:
Henry fathered Nick but never married Nick's mother. Henry abandoned them and did not support them in any way. Henry then married Gwen and adopted her daughter Delaney. Because Henry was too controlling, Delaney left town for 10 years. Henry never had any other children and wanted an heir. He tries to start a relationship with Nick, but Nick will ha...more

Truly Madly Yours has something in it for everyone. It is more than a romance, and really involves an entire town in it's characterizations. It reads more like fiction in parts, but don't misunderstand...this is a "romance first" kind of book.

Delaney Shaw and Nick Allegrezza share a father. Nick's biological and Delaney's adoptive. Their dad was not a nice man...he spent his life denying his paternity of Nick and controlling Delaney. Nick has always been jealous of the attention his dad gave to...more

I loved Rescue Me. This book however, not so much.

Truly Madly Yours is about, Delaney Shaw, a hairdresser who moves back to Truly, Idaho for a year as a requirement to receive her inheritance from her overly controlling step-father who is still trying to run her life from his grave. I was laughing at the beginning of this book and really enjoyed the chemistry between Delaney and Nick. However, most of the book seemed to drag on and I was always wondering when the next scene that had Nick and De...more

My friend at Goodreads recommended me to read this book and I found that I quite like this book. I enjoyed every bits of it and definitely satisfied at the end of this book. The characters are good. The flow of the story’s good too. The romance was superb!

Truly Madly Yours is a happy ending love story, so not to worry. I won’t say much but there’s something Nick said to Delaney that I found so beautiful and wonderful.

I'm giving this 3 stars because the writing was good. You did connect to the characters and I did have to read it to find out the ending BUT I did NOT like this story. Nick was a first class a**hole. I wouldn't have put up with him. I wouldn't have given him the time of day!!! After he kissed Laney at the bar and walked out, then started his Harley, held out his hand for a blonde to hop on the back and he rode off with her... I just knew Id never like his actions after that. And I don't care how...more

All readers have buttons and some books hit none of them, some books hit some of them, and this book hits all of mine. I can SEE it's flaws, I just don't care.

It takes place in a fake Idaho, but one I recognize a sweetened, fictionalized version of the real thing. I love "bad boy" heroes. I love reunion stories, especially where someone is returning to a town they left. I love stories with a goody-two-shoes heroine who feels stifled by what people expect and wants to be something else but can't...more

I'm a bit torn with this book. I really liked the story of Delany Shaw coming back to a small town in Idaho for her step-father's funeral. She only wanted to stay for a few days, but in order to inherit three million dollars her step-father's will stipulates for her to stay in town for twelve months ... not as easy as it first seems.

It's a romance story with a nice kick. Great characters, nice tension between the two main characters and great dialogues - they were witty and fun to read, which ma...more

Oh, I'm Truly, Madly in love with this book. It was awesome.
I usually don't read much about humans and I took this one from the library for my mom, but what do you know... I started it and I loved the first few chapters and I couldn't put it down until it was over.
It was a fun read about a girl and a boy, and a mean father and a will, in a small town where everyone knows everyone and everything... It's hard to keep a secret so if you want a privet life, you get the hell out of there as soon as...more

This is the kind of book where you know exactly what is going to happen by the third chapter, and your're just waiting for it for the rest of the book.
Delaney likes Nick but wont admit it. They obviously had a sexual encounter once but it didn't go all the way. Nick is the bad boy who secretly would love to be with Delaney but he puts on a front of indifference.
TECHNICALLY they both consider the same man to be their "father" (Henry was Delaney's step-father and Nick's biological father. He was...more

Oh my!! I loved this book.

I have never read a book where someone takes so many leisurely baths. Makes me want to have a soak!

Loved Nick. Loved Delaney. Would have loved an epilogue that maybe showed the couple dealing with their in laws and D loving life in Truly or something, but I guess I have an imagination for that kind of thing. I LOVED that they didn't get pregnant in the book. None of this "forced together by pregnancy" business. I wish that maybe D. would have opened up to Nick about her...more

I've just finished the book and I'm wiping my tears away as I'm writing this comment. A fascinating story of love, I read it with a lump on my throat, wondering anxiously how the story will turn out. Nick is a handsome devil, a womanizer and he is hard to keep but you can't help being drawn into him. His alpha male attitude either makes your heart melt or makes you mad at him, no matter what, you can't help falling in love with this sexy man when you get to know him better.

As for Delaney, I real...more

I would probably give this one a 2.5, only because I expect much better from Rachel Gibson. Is it just me, or could the conflict in the plot have been resolved easily? If Delaney left town, Nick would get $3 million and if they told people they'd slept together, she'd get her stepfather's property. Then they could, I don't know...SWITCH.

Anyway, I thought the H/H had a lot of chemistry, but I just couldn't warm up to Nick's assholery. Furthermore, I couldn't stomach that Delaney was ok with his a...more

This book kept me awake till 3 am last night..It reminded me why I loved nice, funny, sweet romance books, I am still a romantic after all and I guess I'll always enjoy a good chicklit.

This is the story of Delaney who comes back to her hometown after leaving ten years ago following a not-so-nice experience involving the town's bad boy Nick. Now, let me tell you about these guys.

Nick is the illegitimate son of Delaney's stepfather, the unwanted child who's always been rejected by his real father...more

Another great Gibson book that I would highly recommend. Truly Madly Yours wasn't as great as her See Jane Score, but it was far better than my last Gibson read, Sex, Lies, and Online Dating). Delaney was an engaging and unusual heroine - her sense of style would be interesting to see in person, lol - and Nick was one of those wonderful bad-boy heroes. Plus the chemistry between these two was intense; Gibson certainly knows how to write scenes that will have your skin tingling and make you reach...more

This gets prize for the worse proofing I can ever remember noting on a professionally published book. In the hundred pages of this contemporary romance I pushed myself to read, I noticed two cases of "too" where it should have been "to," "soul" instead of "sole" a "ly" suffix left off twice. I guess I shouldn't necessarily blame the author for shoddy copyediting--I can however blame her for the ludicrous (yet in romance books) cliched plot, where the stipulations of a will are used to force the...more

I first met Delaney and Nick in "Tangled up in you" as neighbors to lead character Mick, years after this story takes place in TMY. What their minor story line is in TUIY would be a spoiler for TMY, but they were likable characters in TUIY so I was pleased to find out there was a backstory for them. By the time I read TMY, I'd already read several of Rachel Gibson's later works. She has a nice, romantic-comedy style of writing, and it was good to see it's been a style she's had from the beginnin...more

Not my favourite Rachel Gibson book. I found it difficult to warm to either character. I know he is a bad boy, but he was just far too nasty to her for my liking and I'm not sure what it is I didn't like about her. Maybe it was because she continually threw herself at him - she couldn't resist him even when she knew she'd be left regretful and humiliated.

What I did like was the complicated family history between Delaney and Nick. It certainly helped to explain the resentment and added another le...more

Truly Madly Yours is one truly exceptional book and I was so enchanted by the story of Delaney and Nick that I didn’t stop reading until it was 3 a.m (considering the fact that I was going to get up at 6a.m it’s a huge sacrifice)!:) About the story – basically Nick and Delaney have known each other all their lives but always there was something standing between them – Nick is an illegitimate child of Delaney’s step-father who ha...more

Rachel was born in Boise, Idaho, USA. Her father worked for a telephone company, and her mother was a house wife. Idaho has the largest population of Basques outside of the Basque lands of Spain. She grew up with kids with last names like Uberuaga, Berriochoa, and Egisquiza, but years later she discovered the rest of the country didn't really know much about the Basque culture or history.
