The scenery of King's ranch is breathtaking. No wait. This is a book! How is that possible?
Sala paints MASTERPIECES with her books.
She is a true artist. Plus, this book apparently had a personal meaning for the author as she mentions in the prologue that in real life, her own daughter was the victim of some terrible attack. Sala translates the anguish, fear and healing process from her real-life tragedy into a splendid pageantry of words, spilling them like paint on a canvas in this novel.

The storyline was a bit formulaic and not very suspenseful but I couldn't help liking both King and Jess who made a very lovely couple. Not bad but not in the same league as her Jackson Rule which I adore.
I read this back in 1995 when my grandma had a subscription to the company. I thought it was sweet and may have to buy a copy from Abe books.
