Falling For Gracie is the perfect title for this book, as you can't help loving Gracie and rooting for her.

At the tender age of 14, Gracie Landon became famous - or rather infamous - in her hometown, Los Lobos, for her wild crush on her 18-year-old neighbor, Riley Whitefield. She "loved" him with all her heart and wasn't afraid to show it, stalking him everywhere and basically playing havoc with his and his girlfriends' lives. That took a special kind of courage, the folks of Los Lobos liked to

This one was difficult for me to rate for several reasons. First, I hate mean, selfish families that make unreasonable demands of one member (Gracie, in this case). When the heroine is spineless and won't stand up for herself, the book becomes a wall-banger, or very low rated. Mallery saved this one by having Gracie stand up for herself not too far into the book! Yay, Gracie! Second, I don't like characters who don't communicate (not so much Gracie and Riley, but everyone else in this book). Aga ...more

This book was so cute! I'm not really into contemporary romances, but I would read Susan Mallery again in a heartbeat!
Gracie is really fun, and has an upbeat personality without being so perky you want to throw something at her.
The only thing that prevents it from being a 5 star book is that the ending is too neat, too Scooby-Doo...you know, they unmask the villain and life returns to pre-villain status...
The damage done to Gracie's career was horrendous and the small blurb in the local small-to

A 3.5 read. Cute story, though extremely light. Got the audio version on audible and the narrator is decent.

As with all Susan Mallery stories I have read to date, the main character bakes (or cooks). Gracie lost her father at the age of 12 and fixates on the boy next door who is 18, while she is 14. She does all kinds of crazy things to keep him away from the girls he dates and the one he's eventually engaged to. (including putting a skunk in his car). Gracie becomes lengend and there are even a

Awesome book absolutely loved

In Los Lobos, fourteen years old Gracie Landon fell in love with eighteen years old Riley Whitefield, but he rejected her as being too young while seeing someone else. Her antics got so out of hand that the local media coverage became known as the Gracie Chronicles; her family, in desperation, shipped Gracie off to live with relatives out of state. Riley married and divorced Pam while Gracie never returned to her hometown for the next fourteen years embarrassed by h

Again, as with book 1, I believe this was a sweet read. I had a great time reading it but something important was just missing.

I will still try one more series from this author because there must be a reason for why EVERYBODY loves her so much.

More like 3.5 stars.

This was an enjoyable story about a woman named Gracie whose past is legendary, filled with borderline (ok, she was actually way on the wrong side of that border) psychotic and obsessive behavior of a 14 year girl for her 18 year old neighbor Riley. Even though Gracie had lost her father at the time, her antics caused her mother to send her away to live with an aunt and uncle, not welcoming her to come home over the next 14 years, except to help with her baby sister's weddin

This one was just okay--it had some cute moments, and some funny parts, but the overall premise and at least half of the actions of the antagonists and town as a whole were just this side of silly. The whole "Gracie loves with her whole heart" concept was just ridiculous--hello, she's fourteen and she put a skunk in her crush's car! (Just one of *many* fun ways she showed her "love".) Other than being her next door neighbor and the object of her obsession, he doesn't even know her, nor does she ...more

As I'm sure many know, I love and adore Susan Mallery and her writing. I think there's only one book of hers, that I've read, that I didn't absolutely love. Falling for Gracie is no exception; I loved it. The story wasn't anything really intense; on the contrary, it was light and fun and quirky, with just the right amount of mystery to keep things interesting. Riley and Gracie fit well together, and it was actually refreshing not to have The Big Misunderstanding with the hero and heroine.

Another great story from Mallery. There were times during the book where it was a little slow but overall the story was good and the romance between Gracie and Riley was enduring and heartfelt.

Gracie is on the road to be a famous wedding cake maker. She was sent away by her mother at the age of 14 because she took her childhood crush a little too far. Gracie at the age of 14 swore she loved Riley and she did everything in her power to make sure he knew she loved him. Gracie now a grown woman wi

I liked Gracie. I liked Riley. I liked their interaction and dialog. So how can a book where I like the writing, like the characters, like the dialog, and even like the sex scenes end up being a three star book instead of something better? If you are looking for an example of contrived and hokey plot points, this is the book for you. How many times did I end up saying, "Well, that's just stupid."? More than a couple times that's for sure. If I hadn't liked the characters so much, this would have ...more

Some parts were too silly and too ridiculous. But I really liked the couple and rooted for them.

Recommends it for: Anyone who likes fun, sexy contemporary romance light on the emotional angst
This is one of my feel good go to reads. 14 years ago teen aged Gracie had it bad for older bad boy Riley. Her escapades became the stuff of town legend when they were immortalized in a series of articles in the town paper. Gracie is banished from Los Lobos to live with relatives in LA only returning 14 years later to help out with her younger sister's wedding. Riley is back in Los Lobos fulfilling his uncle's will. When Riley and Gracie get back together as adults, it's only a matter of time be ...more

First off, Gracie's family is horrid. I really disliked them and I don't think any of her family members had any redeeming qualities. I also had a difficult time connecting to any of the characters, but this may have been due to my immense dislike of Gracie's family. The events were a little unbelievable. I also found the events to be disjointed and unconnected.

I actually laughed and cried. It's hard to get me to do both. The banter was fantastic, I would give another star if I didn't have a problem with understanding a few of the plot points.

This story is so cute that it almost gave me a cavity! And I mean that in the best possible way. Susan Mallery really is a small-town romance goddess. She creates amazingly funny, sweet and sexy stories based in quirky, but lovable small towns. Falling for Gracie was a great example of everything there is to love about Susan Mallery romances.

The heroine Gracie is so much fun to delve into. Having an insider's view into her thoughts and life made me literally smile, get upset, be sad and laugh w

A really sweet story! Lots of twists and turns.

Gracie had been forced to leave town at the age of fourteen because of her irrational fixation on eighteen year-old Riley. Thanks to several newspaper articles, the entire town of Los Lobos knew of her antics to try and win the affections of Riley. Sent by her mother to live with her aunt and uncle, it was fourteen years before she returned to the town or to see her mom and sisters again.

14 year old Gracie Landon was in love with her next door neighbour 18 year old Riley Whitefield, so much so that she stalked him and caused a major embarassment to Riley and her family - the local newspaper even wrote an article called "The Gracie Chronicles". Her mother was so incensed that she sent Gracie away to her Grandmother's and then onto her aunt and she is only coming back now for the first time after 14 years for her younger sister's wedding.

Sometimes entertaining but not very nuanced. The first half of the story seemed like it was going somewhere interesting, but alas it was not to be.

This was a cute book that followed Gracie's return to Los Lobos where as a 14 year old child she humiliated herself following after her crush Riley trying to break up his relationships. After her childhood escapades got Gracie infamous by having a story written about her in the paper, Gracie's mother decided to send Gracie away to save her the embarrassment of being the talk of the town. Thus Gracie grows up away from her immediate family and only returns 15 years later because her younger siste ...more

Very cute, and maintains this the whole way through. There are places where the author could have easily gone a more clicheed romance novel route and I felt like cheering when she did not.

I am a huge fan of romances where the couple never really do the whole "FIGHT AGAINST THESE FEELINGS OF UNWANTED ATTRACTION" nonsense. In a lot of contemporaries I have been reading lately, the pair didn't ask for this to happen but they shrug because they are adults and adults have sex sometimes and sometimes

Although it was very chick-lit, and seemed a little like eating something really bad for you (like... deep-fried twinkies) in the sense that you knew it was bad but you juts couldn't stop, I would have given it a pretty good rating... until the big mysterious climax in which (spoiler, not that anyone cares) someone stuffed Gracie the cakemaker's car full of boxes of cheap cake mix while she was inside doing an interview with a lady from a bridal magazine. When the magazine lady comes back out an ...more
