During the month of November, I searched through my shelves for all Christmas themed novels I had. To my surprise, I found I had over 40. ( Not all were romances) So, I picked out some of the shorter ones , so I could squeeze in as many as possible between my regular reading list. This book has only 188 pages. It is a Silhouette Desire romance written by Joan Hohl and published in 1989.

I normally love Christmas stories, and I tried to love this one but I just couldn't get into it. Both Virginia and Hawk are terribly one-dimensional and the plot didn't exist

My problems:
* no villian (sorry, no, a bad guy from the past who shots Hawk and then is NEVER seen from again and never impacts the storyline)
* Hawk and Virginia's insta-love for no reason
* We are supposed to believe that an intelligent, independant doctor would invite a virtual stranger to live with her based mostly on her

I'm not normally a huge fan of time-travel romance, but this one kinda worked. I think it's because it's about someone from the past ending up in the current period (although by now, it's set almost 25 years ago... I'm getting old!).

And the whole thing was dealt with kinda realistically. I loved MAtt's thoughts about everything strange he saw (he thought Virginia was a hooker because she wore make-up for instance). I liked how he gobbled up information like it was nothing, and loved simple thing

She is a popular U.S.American writer of over 60 romance novels since 1980. She also signed her novels as Paula Roberts and Amii Lorin
