"Good thinkers are always in demand. A person who knows how may always have a job, but the person who knows why will always be his boss. Good thinkers solve problems, they never lack ideas that can build an organization, and they always have hope for a better future. . . . Those who develop the process of good thinking can rule themselves---even while under an oppressive ruler or in other difficult circumstances. In short, good thinkers are successful." Thus begins John C. Maxwell's ex

Maxwell is a very good motivator.
However, I am not sure if he has not written this book for people who want to think like Successful People or for MEN who want to think like Successful People.
ONE THING that has really, but really, really bugged me is when he talks about the fact that HE does not have time for the mundane ! Margaret, wonderful, Margaret (that's his wife) takes care of these meaningless things, because Mister's time is WAY too valuable for them !!!

Short and easy to read exceptional and practical book about the importance of thinking! What a concept. well, for me. There is a chapter on each of various types of thinking: big-picture thinking, focused thinking, creative thinking, realistic thinking, strategic thinking, possibility thinking, reflective thinking, questioning popular thinking, benefiting from shared thinking, practicing unselfish thinking and relying on bottom-line thinking. My favorite quote from the book is "the truth

It started off slow and generic. There are some good points in the book though. I especially liked Maxwell’s thoughts about going against popular thought processes and putting others first.
I picked this up because I wanted to hear something new on creative thinking but most of what he talked about has already been covered by other “experts” in his field. Read Brian Tracy or Anthony Robbins and you’ll understand.

In a time when too many people act first and think later, I sincerely hope that thinking is making a comeback.
When I finished reading this book, I immediately thought of half a dozen people who would love it. All six of those people are successful, and are most likely already thinkers themselves. Still, it can't hurt to fine-tune your skills!

Well, this one was a great disappointment! The book was infinitely boring. I'm not sure if it was the reader, Chris Sorensen, who made it that way, or it was just the material - I'm leaning towards the material. The author is a pastor, which may explain part of thepreachiness of the text, but does not make it acceptable.
The author was also a conceited prick! He constantly talked about how he ran so many companies, blah, blah. I wanted to smack him! He also mentioned how smart More...

If you have a background in management consulting, there's no need to pick up this book. You already have the training and tools to which the author refers. On the other hand, if you're not a management consultant and haven't had leadership training or would like a primer or guide that helps with keeping ideas in order, then this might be for you.
Quite frankly, there is nothing in here that was revelatory. If you've followed magazines like Fortune, Inc., or Strategy and Business you More...

I think this book starts strongest and then tapers off a bit, with a few jumps in quality throughout, or maybe it's just that certain chapter topics--for example, Big-Picture Thinking and Possibility Thinking--appealed more to me.
In any case, it's a pretty good read that gives some fresh ideas for how to think.

This was a great, short read. I liked how Maxwell combined the different modes of thinking. There was a balance between, creativity, realistic, focused and possibility thinking. Maxwell shows thinking is not only desirable for success, but needed on so many levels.

Over the course of the read, I gained a few thoughts...but not quite enough for me to recommend this book to others or plan to reread it in the future.

Some day I will learn not to read "management guru" books. I am always, always disappointed.

I will likely read this several times. Good ideas on how to think more deliberately.

A gem in your library. Just a fun self-help book you should read. I really enjoyed it.

Classic John Maxwell book - full of good insights, practical principles, and great inspiring quotes. He does speak truth and I hope to be able to put into practice some of the different types of thinking that he elucidates for the reader.

Quick and easy to read. You can find some useful ideas. I didn't find any fresh or new concepts. Nice to read but not highly recommended.

Not his best. Very basic... I felt like he just wrote this to write it.

Another practical book from John C. Maxwell. Although this is certainly not his best, I liked it because it made me aware of my pattern of thinking. Maxwell encourages us to make focused and creative thinking a daily habit.

Think with purpose, plan time to think? I started reading this book because I often have ideas that rarely leave my brain. I am learning how to document them, and come back to them analytically rather than acting first, thinking second. So far so good. I find I take a lot more notes now. Rather than asking my brain to remember every minutia, I now have more capacity for analysis.

many of people let their mind (think) as flowing and simple is that... it's not wrong but it more harder to get your dream..

As always John Maxwell snaps me back into reality and saves me from my whining and complaining ways to realize what got me into those situations in the first place. This is a great lil reader for the kiddies as well.

This was not all that groundbreaking, although it was a good refresher for modes of thought. It's a small pocket-size book, so for the non-reader it's a nice reference/gift.

There were a few chapters with some good insights but in general, nothing spectacular. It is however a very quick read which is nice.

The author challenges the reader to rethink how you think. Discipline the mind is the first step to a changed life.
