was pretty good. i appreciate the authors cultural integration with the Norwegians and the Venezuelan influence from Tyler's mother, all mixed in with the North Carolian mains here. lovely story altogether. not over the top, deep where it needs to be, doesn't bother to get nasty...just a lovely story
**Possible Spoilers**This was my first read by this author, and although I thought this book was ok and I finished it in a day's time, I know it wont resonate with me. I cant really put my finger on what it is about this book, but there is something missing. I liked Gunnar's character(gray eyes to boot-GRRR!), but I really didn't care for Tyler. I guess I have an issue with her ridiculously oversized self-conscious attitude. I mean I get it, she's "chubby" and not model thin(which who would want...more

Excellent love story and definitely one of the best I've read from an author who isn't "well known". I appreciate how the storyline flows and actually takes you on a journey instead of forcing you to emotion-hop along with the two characters. I got where Tyler was coming from, even when she got on my last nerve. And Gunnar? Well, there is simply nothing NOT to love about Gunnar. Definitely one of my favore male protagonists to date. The realism of having him voice his own knee jerk response in re...more
WOW, I was so over this book by like page 80. Nothing was happening for the longest time. I wanted to give up and stop reading but I forced myself to continue. I did not like Tyler at all. She was forever whining about her weight and about her ex from not 1, not 2 but from 6 YEARS AGO! Gunnar wasn't a strong enough male lead for me. He was practically begging for her to get with him and I didn't find that romantic at all. I didn't believe the attraction they had for each other.

Things I found ann...more

I could not get into this book. Some of the dialogue was borderline too stereotypical for me. And, this is like the third IR book I've read where the heroine is a beautician. There are so many professions to choose from, authors, be bold, branch out a little. Nurses, teachers and even ***gasp*** doctors. I've read at least one attorney but why so many beauticians? Anywho, maybe I'll pick it up again later and finish it. I might be in a reading "mood" right now. TTFN-Sandy
Well written and sexy book. Good plot and great chemistry between the leads.

I really wanted to like this story, I kept hanging on waiting for it to get better. It was good, but I was expecting more. Tyler was the biggest issue I had with the book. Her self image and her emotions stemming from them caused unnecessary problems for her relationship with Gunnar.

At some point, I really wanted her to embrace her curves, especially after she lost weight initially and everyone was praising her, it should have been enough then. She should have had an 'ahha' moment, and discover...more

I absolutely loved this book.It is a great mix of comedy, sassy comments and romance. It wasn't all fun and games though, as the topic of self-acceptance and self love was explored. The intimate moments were quite good and the ending was very romantic and happy which is always a plus for a sap like me. Tyler is a thick, curvy woman who suffered with self esteem issues almost to the very end. She was discarded by her first love because of her appearance and left utterly broken in the process. She...more

I liked Trolling Nights. So when I decided to read this, I probably expected the same pattern. To say this book has its own twist, yes it does. Did I like it? Errr..unfortunately I didn't.
Tyler's biggest weakness is she had a hard time to believe that nobody's perfect, but hell she's the poorest imperfect one. She pitied herself. She didn't have a confidence. She even couldn't stand for what she had. She always had a chance to see things negatively in herself. Those, I couldn't bring myself to...more

2 stars the story of Tyler and Gunner is too far fetched. I get the bottom line that larger women are attractive and as lovable as any other woman, and I agree with that both in theory and practice; but, this story is not believable.
I loved it! Usually, I don't like books that have a weak minded main character. They tend to get on my nerves! Tyler was a women who was broken down and lacked self esteem from years of being bullied as a kid and a traumatic break up with her first love. This book followed her life as an exceptionally beautiful man (inside and out) helped her heal herself. It irked me at times that Tyler couldn't see the unconditional love that Gunnar had for her. Looking forward to reading more books by Frierso...more
Although the pace of this book was a bit slow I fell in love with Tyler's & Gunnar's story quite easily.

This is my first time reading a book where there's an ebony protagonist that self conscience about her weight falling for a white Norwegian man! Wow...triple whammy. In the end In actually loved it and how it all turned out. I just love Gunnar-but not his name- and how passionate he is. Then there is the supportive family behind the two interracial couple that added even more love to the mix. All in all it was a book about inner struggles and tribulations they had to go through and I love ever b...more

After "The Perfect Chemistry" had melted my heart and leave it eager for another lame book, I picked another love story.
In the second book of my reading year, my romantic side continued to be fed by "The Beauty Within".

Though much adult than "The Perfect Chemistry", this one was also heart breaking, with one bit of "real problems" that gave an unexpected interest to the story and turned the characters much more appealing.

For those who like a good romance, read it!

LOOOOVED IT. I'm a fan of interracial relationships. I'm a fan of romance and beautiful love making scenes. This book is awesome.
I did like this because I could so relate to Tyler but she was just so caught up in her own bad feeling that Gunner feelings seem to not matter. She didn't even see her problems until he forced it (really forced). I like how it felt like he was really into her with his words and actions but Tyler never really commited until the end. And the story just was not there for me. The plot was not making me want to read on. just wanted more from the Characters then I got.

Not exactly my favorite, but I enjoyed it.

I loved it when the chubby heroine feeling insecure but have enough fire within her. And the hero, Gunner, is sweet and I love him. I rarely read about interracial romance, but this one is good and the different color didn't really become a barrier between them. I liked it.

Overall, good book with good storyline. But predictable.
3.5 stars.

I liked this book. The beginning was very good, but it felt pretty long in the end. It should have been edited more, especially towards the end!

The author needed help with the spanish and norwegian, there were pretty bad translations around. Awkward!
A good story other than the fact that they make a big deal over white and black... like the language they used between the races was so distinct. Other than that, the book was very good. The storyline, the plot, it was good.
Loved Loved Loved it! The characters were so real! I mean for a second there I thought we were friends. Her storytelling abilities are superb! The story never lost my interest.
Bought the paper back of this book. LOVE IT!
