This was one the books I had to read for my adult materials and services classes. I had to read books from genres I usually didn't read from in my leisure.

A Booksquirm Book Club pick - and fortunately the first book voted off of the island. Our assignment was to read chapter 1. The following are my thoughts of the book based on that first chapter.
This chapter would have been shorter if the reader didn't have to experience daja vu while reading it. For example, on page 3 "she (Belinda) knew she would remember Blake and this moment for the rest of her life." And then on page 4 "It was a day and a moment that Belinda kn More...

This is the first Daniel Steel that I've read, and I am quite disappointed.
I liked the concept, because it's fresh on my part. A diversion from my usual lawsuits, medical drama, mystery and fantasy things... This time I gambled on a romantic side.
The sweet part here is that Steel colored American family differently from what the "usual American family" is. In "Rogue", the divorced couple became friends, in fact, they seemed best friends. The premise t More...

The book as a whole wasn't as good as I would have hoped. This was my first Danielle Steel book I have ever read, and it may be my last. She is very in-depth when describing her characters, and my reason for reading the book was the title. Rogue by definition is a person full of mischief and doesn't abide by rules, similar to my personality. I looked up to the character, Blake, for his ways of never settling down and traveling as a rich entrepreneur. The main character Maxine is in love with

This was my first Danielle Steel novel. I was surprised by how much lack of descriptive details there were among character interactions; specifically the ones between the hero, Maxine, and the men in her life.
I was expecting something a bit more juicy, but instead I got some quick summaries of the events that were supposed to be juicy.
For example, in the middle chapters, there's a single sentence that was supposed to deliver passion and excitement: "It was everything___ More...

I did not like this book at all, everything was so rushed one minute the hero is in relationship with another woman is thinking of marrying her then he catches her with other man in his bed and then he goes back to ex-wife realises how good she is and the only woman for him(after sleeping with god knows how many women and also enjoyed having sex with each one of them)and stops her wedding and ex-wife takes him back just like that
The characters were so shallow n weak,no continuation i More...

I listened to this book on CD, and the voices were AWFUL! Some of the characters came off as being completely obnoxious, although I don't think they would have been if I'd read it. I just couldn't stand listening to Charles talk. He sounded like a snobby, dorky old man. And her kids voices were terrible too! Her son jack sounded like a pot-smoking dope. And her daughter was equally annoying.
Other than the reader, I think it was an OK book. It passed the time while I drove, a More...

I liked the story as I do the many books I have read by Danielle Steel but the more I read her lastest book the more I skim the first half becuz I feel she is killing time repeating herself. Seems almost like she has great ideas and just cranks them out anymore. Which is fine...for selling out and not giving us the Danielle Steel love in her books. Slow down and give us the good old fashion juice that we use to know and love. I gave it three stars becuz of respect and good storyline but.....

Sometimes a book just charms you. This was one of those cases. I love the way the story was all woven together and then tied at the end with a pretty ribbon. There were hints at how it might end all through but it was still a pleasant affirmation and left me with a smile on my face.
As usual, Ms. Steel's female characters who are strong, capable women with real careers and all the life balancing of family and career, is refreshing and a welcome change.

Another "twinkie" book. A pleasant enough book to read at the beach. It didn't require any thinking and passed the time quickly enough. However, I did spend a large portion of the book wanting to shake the female protagonist 'til her shoes fell off for being so STUPID about a man she was planning to marry. But, in true DS fashion, everything was wrapped up with a nice bow at the end. Mild language and "intimacy." You won't suffer if you don't read this book.

I really should know better than to pick up anything written by DS expecting anything different from the tons of stuff that has come before. I have liked a few of her books in the past - A Perfect Stranger and The Ghost amongst that short list - but for the most part they're basically the same.
I know I've read more than my share of her when I begin to notice distinct similarities in characters from book to book.

This was not one of Steele's best novels. The storyline was a good one, but I didn't feel a connection with the characters at all. It was just a story with not much feeling. You know that feeling when a 4th grader tries to read out loud to the class and there is no heart and no feeling, just complete boredom? Yeah, that's what it felt like while reading this book. I was so disappointed because it could have been so much better.

Danielle Steel has written novels with richer characters and engaging plots. The book was an easy read and I enjoyed the tale of a fast paced single mother, easy to relate to. Disappointing was the intended evolution of the chauvinistic Blake and the imposed changes. I found the ending was rushed and not enough time spent persuading the reader of the attempted change from Rogue to responsible.

Her "theme" in this one was teen suicide -- dreadful! Her hero is unreal; her protagonist is too dislikable and too "pat." The heroine is perhaps a bit naive. And, it seems that Danielle had a word count she wanted to meet -- repetition of facts just provided on previous pages (and paragraphs) were insulting to my intelligence -- how many times had i needed reminders of the facts?!?!? But, i did finish it so ....

It was the typical Danielle Steel book, I needed something though before I went nuts and just joined this new library it was about to close in ten minutes so just grabbed something lol lol lol...... excuses excuses eh rofl. As far as romance fluff goes it was fine, filled my lack of a book void. I got a kindle coming to me next week cannot wait to play around with it no more waiting for nothing now !

Thought I would give a Danielle Steel book a try (had heard good things about her as a writer in general). I did not agree that she is an "Excellent" writer! I was completely bored almost the entire way through the book. The plot barely progressed and when it did move - it was unbelievably predictable. At least with other predictable books the description of the characters and their situations are captivating enough to entertain me - not so in the book.

I got this book in the 3 days rental at the library, I liked the cover (stupid me) and also I haven't read a DS book sinse I was very young, now I know why. The writting style was dull, the characters were predictable. I skipped the middle and went to the nicely tied HEA, what a waste of gas to get the book back to the library on time so I don't have to pay a fine.

Another Danielle Steel I picked up to listen to on CD for a drive to Seattle. About a successful woman, raising three children without much help from her husband who is a very wealthy man, traveling the world and living the life of the rich and famous. The ending was cheesy but, a lot of romance books are. Good for a quick read on a vacation perhaps.

Another typical Steel book about perfect women, imperfect men, rotten children and a ton of money!!! And you wonder why the author has been married and divorced so many times! I like to read these books once in awhile because I don't have to think at all and can read them in an afternoon or during a baseball game. Easy on the brain books.

I liked this Danielle Steel book better than the previous two I read. I didn't feel like the plot was rushed or romances were sped up to fit the book into a certain page requirement. It did follow a typical DS format but I enjoyed reading it and was able to read it quickly. A good summer beach read for sure :)

Against my better judgement, I accepted this book from my aunt who begged me to read it. First and last Steel for me. The child psychiatrist character was intriguing to me, but that was about it. This story was beyond predictable. I had it figured out by the 3rd chapter. I'm surprised I finished it. I put it down about 100 times swearing not to pick it back up.

I don't usually read this kind of book, but the audio version was a gift so I am listening. It's the first of Steel's for me, an so far it's OK, but predictable. It passes the time as I drive and keeps me from listening to the dreary news or exasperating political talk. I agree with one reviewer that the voices are bad, Charles especially. He just doesn't sound appealing at all. I'll finish it, but it probably won't rate more than 2 stars.

A wonderful read. I loved the story and how things twisted at the end. Besides I didnt like that Charles that Max was going to marry. He knew from the very start that she has kids and she has a good relationship with her ex who is charming, very rich, entertaining, but irresponsible or... maybe not.

Another good book by Steele. Relationships that are broken as people mature, or not; and then the possibilities. Enjoyed the fact there was depth in the long term relationship and not arguing and friction. Maybe not too realistic as to what happens in the real world but I read for enjoyment.

Now I remember why I don't read Danielle Steel. Her books don't require any thought process whatsoever. No real meat - just fluff. If you like that, then you like her books.
I picked up her book at a bookstore in an airport. I was desperate to read something on the long flight home...

I picked this book up at the library, figuring I'd give her another chance.
Most of her books are basically the same story, book after book....this one ended well (as hers usually do) but the storyline was a 'little' differetn.
I enjoyed it!

It's been several years since I braved a Danielle Steel offering. I am a fan of cover art and when this book came out in hardback a year ago I pondered buying it just for the places the cover took my imagination. I'm glad I held out for the paperback. The first rule of a writer is to show and not tell, I think in her long standing best seller status Ms. Steel may have forgotten the simple rules. This felt more like an outline in a lot of scenes than a real book. A lot of very key elements were

I'm listening to this book on CD. I started this book on 03/06/2009. I finished this book on 03/19/2009.
I listened to this book on CD and it was actually pretty good. Danielle Steel books have always been hard for me to read and get into but I usually like it on CD. Anyhow, it was good. I loved the twist at the end and thought Charles was a butt the whole way through.
