What a great, absolutely amazing book! Derek and Alyssa have a one night stand, when he didn't know who she was. A couple of weeks later he's assigned as her bodyguard:) None of them is too happy and try to keep it professional, even though it's obvious they're attracted to each other. Derek has trouble believing Alyssa is not the supercilious, scandalous party girl she used to be, while Alyssa has been trying to move on with her life and gain the acceptance of her family. After some weeks of li

5 stars – Romantic Suspense
Kept is the second book in Jami Alden’s Gemini Men series about three ex-military brothers, twins Ethan and Derek and older brother Danny, who run a private security firm that specializes in undercover work for very high-profile, elite clientele. Although I liked the first book in the series, Caught, this installment has a deeper, more intriguing plot, much steamier sex, and the suspense has been stepped up a notch as well. I may have found my next favorite romantic suspense author. I couldn't turn the pages of this book fast enough. Very well written and pretty well plotted. The characters were believable and their relationship seemed real. I am looking forward to reading about the other 2 brothers. For once I was okay with reading about a spoiled rich girl. She seemed very real charming and vulnerable. Just a quick review. I'll try to fill this out later.

The heroine, Alyssa Miles, is a socialite comparable to Paris Hilton. But she's much more likeable than Paris Hilton! Her every move is detailed in the tabloids...She's got a somewhat "bad" taste in men (they kiss and tell) and was even in rehab a couple years ago because of drug abuse. But now she's absolutely clean. When she meets a security guy (Derek Taggart) at a party and he doesn't even know who she is, she seizes the chance to spend time with a man who sees her for herself and

This is book 2 in a series about 3 really hot brothers, older brother Danny and twins Ethan and Derek Taggart who are all ex military hunks and run a Security business together called Gemeni.
Ethan was caught by Toni in the first book “Caught” and now it is Derek’s turn. He first meets Alyssa at a function that he was a doing security at and even though they got together he did not she was famous, until the next day. Three weeks later he is told that Gemini had been hired by her company More...

I stay away from trade size romance books as a whole. When I picked up this proof copy I had no idea that it was to be a trade book. I'm glad I wasn't paying attention, because I actually liked the forthright story. The mysteries and hidden agendas are spelled out for you, leaving the author time to concentrate on the relationship forming between the two main characters. I wasn't quite expecting to know who-done-it the page after it was done, but it was still fun to see the characters get to fig

Here's a lesson from this book: Don't trust anyone!!!!!
Good very good! I really liked it. The story was good, a bit harsh here and there, but I appreciated the insight about diamond mines and what really happened there.
At the beginning I had some trouble with the heroine, who seemed to be really vapid and bi-dimensional, but she really improved. He, I want a man like this. Always there for you! ;)
The HEA was really a bit of tale side but good!

I really enjoyed this read. It is different enough from the first book that you don't feel cheated, and although the other brothers are present, they don't dominate at all. I kind of started out thinking the hero was not particularly interesting, but the characters, the plot, the steamy bits (oh yeah!), and how well it was all pulled together with great writing just sucked me in. The hero and heroine are so well drawn and complex that I would really recommend this book.

I loved book 1 but I can't really give this one a fair review because I absolutely hated the heroine. The whole Paris Hilton thing [even if she is trying to get over it:] makes me faintly ill... I just can't read paparazzi stories!
I'll still look for book 3 though... Incidentally order doesn't seem to matter between these two.
Gemini Men
1. Caught (2008)
2. Kept (2009)
3. Unleashed (2009)

I am pleasantly surprised with Jami Alden. I never think to buy her books unless I see them at the used books store I frequent. But, as I have often noticed, they are very good reads. This one I liked even though I was a little worried at first with the whole starlet role. Both were great...very much along the lines of Shannon McKenna before she got really graphic.

4.5 stars. I enjoyed the tight writing. I also liked the multiple viewpoints and the consistency of the characters. The book, despite being heavy in erotica - which I'm not going to complain about- had a decent plot and was suspenseful. The male viewpoints were well written considering the author is a woman. All in all, an enjoyable read.

I didn't like it as much as the first, but it was still a good read! The heroine was a little hard to relate to! The hero was a jerk, but I like jerky hero's so it worked for me! The bad guys were definitely more sinister in this one, much more suspenseful then the first!

Kept is about a "celeberity" and another of the Gemini brothers Derek. The celeb is seen as an embarassment from her family so they hire Derek to babysit her. After a few attempts are made on her life he finially accepts that he loves her. Another decet naughty read.

Caught was very good and Kept is starting off even better...
And it finished with 5 stars! It was a romantic suspense with steam. Felt like a Shannon McKenna or a Linda Howard book. Excellent entry in a great series.

Enjoyed the book. However, the author went pretty fast. I guess I like a little deeper feel.

A pretty entertaining romance. I liked the pace and the tension in the novel.

Damn you Derek Taggart, you were such an asshat MF'g dickhead to Alyssa that I took 1 star from your rating! However, you redeemed yourself well in the end and made me love you anyway. Damnit. But you're not getting your 5-star rating. There are consequences for your actions, you know? And your brother Ethan's story was just better. Now I must read Danny's story, and I hope he's not a bigger asshat than you were. And find out FINALLY what's going on with your mother??!!

I found this book to be an easy, quick read - and I don't mean because of the smut. ;) The story telling was fast paced, the puzzle pieces of all the different plot points weaving themselves together for a climatic ending that was just okay. It was a nice distraction book but not one that I'd keep on the shelf for a re-read.
I'll admit that I am curious to see what kind of story JA will come up with to loosen up the oldest brother, though. ;)

So far this is my favorite of the Gemini series. There's plenty of steam between Alyssa and Derek to go with the action as they try to find out who is after Alyssa. I really felt for Alyssa who it seemed just wanted someone to love her. Derek was a bit of a tool and slow to acknowledge he feelings, but I love when he finally did.

2nd book in the series. Derek, the hero, got on my nerves through most of the book. Only because he was to scared to admit his feelings, and was at times kind of cruel to Alyssa. He manages to totally redeem himself towards the end of this book.
There is a bit more suspense in "Kept" than was in "Caught", the book first in the series.

I'm reading the Gemini Men series books one after the other. Derek and Alyssa were both just a bit too dysfunctional. The characters are attractive, the sex is hot, the plot is acceptable. But the hero and heroine were both so dysfunctional--I foresee problems in their relationship future. Just a little over the top.

Ok, so although I liked thevpremise of the first book, there were entirely too many typos for me to enjoy it...and the "romantic scenes" were so-so. "Kept", however, was a vast improvement. The action was good, the suspense was great, and I loved the romance!

Although I figured out the twist at the end or at least suspected it way early on, I still liked the book. A lot of things unfinished about the Taggarts. I'm guessing we will find out about their long-lost mother in the third book.

LOVED IT! Adorable heroine who doesn't take too much crap from her man, and a hero who is sexy as all get out, once he puts on his big boy pants! READ IT! You'll love it if you like sexy, steamy suspense romances!

The Gemini men are drool worthy... the women that are catching them are interesting... Toni was hot and geeky where Alyssa is delicate and debutante... but determined and resilient. Ahh... a great read!

2nd in an enjoyable series about the men of Gemini Security. Romance, mystery, and fast paced action make this series one that keeps you guessing and waiting for the next installment.
