The Holy Terror
I have to give this one 2.75 stars because it just wasn't as good as the first book. There were some sexy and funny parts and even some that made me tear up, but the whole wedding business and the family dynamics kind of turned me off. Mama Ginger and Jane's whole family (except her Dad) could never again appear on the pages and I'd be happy. The scenes with them were frustrating and I wanted to slap a few of them on a number of occasions. Plus, the fact that the one storyline I actually wanted...more

Everybody remember my love of the first book? No? I linked my review up top so feel free to go read the fangirl'ingthe review and come back. I'll wait.

Okay so now you must know how much I love Jane. She only gets better. On the back of the book the tagling 'Forever a Bridesmaid, Never an Undead Bride' kind of sums up the funny of this book. Jane is Maid of Honor to Jolene (Zeb's wack-a-doodle werewolf girlfriend he met in the previous book while trying to come to terms with Jane's undead status)...more

Review by Cassandra from Book Talk

In the second installment of this series, Jane's problems are not quite over. She is dealing with the planning of her best friend's Titanic-themed wedding to a werewolf bride, her crazy and frustrating family, and her relationship with Gabriel. Her best friend Zeb seems to have lost his mind when, at certain times, he starts to make passes at Jane. Gabriel is keeping major secrets and Jane feels it might ruin their relationship. All in all, Jane's new undead lif...more

I was in the mood for a bit of light reading, and Molly Harper’s Jane Jameson series is about as fluffy as it gets, basically the literary equivalent to an almond meringue – absolutely no nutritional substance at all, but irresistibly delicious. (The novels do get one better over the pastries though, in that they are also very funny.)[return][return]There is a theory that humour is a product of the clash of the ideal with the real, and Molly Harper’s is a very nice illustration of that, as a sig...more

I really enjoyed Harper's How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf. Driving Mr. Dead is one of the funniest cutest pieces of fluff ever. But, Harper's Jane Jameson series continues to fall flat for me. After the first book, there is a serious lack of action. I'm not sure that much of anything happens at all. The baddies aren't big or bad enough to be entertaining. Jane is a super bland heroine. I realize that’s kinda Jane’s thing: most boring ordinary person to be turned into a vampire. However, it do...more

First of all I loved, this book, truly and deeply loved it! It save from hours of boredom at my "job" (if I ever describe the nature of my job, you'll understand the quotation marks), and scare the crap out of some costumer who approached to see the merchandise and found me laughing by myself staring at my cellphone, not good for business....

But then, if I loved it so much why do I rate it with just three stars?

Well, easy: Jane's relationship with her mother and her sister ennoyed the crap out...more

This was an okay book but think I liked book one of this series a bit better. Just seems like this one lacks any real action because it's basically more or less revolving around the wedding of Zeb and Jolene and all it really entails is the bickering because his mom hates Jolene and she always wanted him to marry Jane whom she has always adored but who she doesn't know has been turned into a product of the undead after a freak accident in the first book.

And Jolene's family is about as impressed...more

Quick & Dirty: Non-human weddings are the pits.

Opening Sentence: “I can’t do this.”

The Review:

Jane is back in another sarcasm filled adventure in this, the second book from the “Nice Girls” series. In today’s episode Jane is the Best-Maid in her BFF Zeb’s wedding to the werewolf Jolene and things are rather complicated. The werewolf clan won’t accept Zeb because he’s a human and Zeb’s family won’t accept Jolene because she’s not Jane. And there’s something...more

Molly Harper has quickly became one of my favorite authors, I can't seem to get enough of her books! The second book in her Jane Jameson book is no exception.

Our favorite dead librarian is back, along with her beloved undead boyfriend and my personal favorite, Dick Chaney! The bulk of this book focuses on the wedding of Janes best friend, Zeb to the Warewolf Jolene.

While I have to admit, this book wasn't as hilarious as its predecessor > it was still great! I loved getting to know the other...more

After reading several of the reviews for "Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men" I was a little worried. Most of the reviewers indicated that they did not like this second book as well as the first. It was just the opposite for me, I liked this book better than book one.

After a somewhat turmultous beginning as a vampire, Jane is beginning to make adjustments to all of the changes in her life. Her best friend, Zeb is engaged to a werewolf. Her sister, Jenny is suing her for the inheritance her Aunt Jet...more

Note: Nice Girls Don't Date Dead men is so a member of the Snort Club. Consider yourself warned that the "baby" chapter will make water come out of your nose if you are drinking while reading/listening.

What I Loved: Jane has to be one of my favorite all-time characters, ever. She is smart, sassy, and has the knee-jerk reactions that make you wince and then think, oh shoot I would have done that too. In Nice Gi...more

Second in the Jane Jameson urban fantasy series set in Half Moon Hollow in Kentucky and revolving around a former librarian.

My Take
This is a fun beach read which I do enjoy although this story wasn't so much about dramatic occurrences but more of a see-all-the-weird-stuff-that-happens-in-Jane's-life. And Harper is trying too hard in this one. She has Jane being mad because Gabriel goes out of town and takes care of business. Why is Jane mad? Yes, I understand that Harper is trying to create a...more

Okay...to be fair, I may just not be in the mood for this. I love campy humor and relevant (to me) snarky remarks. I love vampires, and I love the idea of mixing human society with the vampire world.

However, I couldn't help comparing this book to the Queen Betsy series. Not in story line, because, yeah I know our heroine here isn't a queen. But in the tone. Our heroine here Jane is our focus as the reader. She sees ghosts, she has a strangely distant boyfriend, who really does love her, but we...more

Jane's a Funny, Funny Girl...For a Dead Chick.
Poor Jane. She's got the bridesmaid dress from hell, a dead great aunt with a penchant for getting some ghostly nookie in her living room, a mother who refuses to come to terms with her less-than-alive status (and still foists food off on her at every chance), a grandmother who's a black widow - maybe, a sister who loathes her, a boyfriend/sire who keeps disappearing for weeks at a time with suspicious reasons...when there are any, and a best friend...more

Jane getting stronger"
For the second book:

In the second book, the storyline is focused on her BFF Zeb's wedding and his seriously screwy mom's antics trying to ruin the wedding. Trying to deal with all the difficulties, Jane becomes more independent and comes into her own. I still think she is a wuss when dealing with family, but I know she does REALLY good in the third book. Another fun book from a fun series

For the whole series:

I liked the premise of the first book a lot....more
Kt from A Book Obsession..
Even though Jane is still trying to come to terms with the reality that she is a vampire, her biggest challenge right now is accepting the worst bridesmaid dress imaginable. Her best friend Jeb is getting married, and Jane is the Maid of honor. The Titanic is the wedding theme, which is fitting because everything really does seem to be a sinking ship. Somehow she becomes the one responsible for holding everything together despite her own bad track record with relationships. She is ever suspiciou...more

This is the second book in the Jane Jameson trilogy (the third book is Nice Girls Don't Live Forever). It was a great installment in the series, although I didn't like it quite as much as the first book.

Jane has gotten roped in to being the Maid of Honor at Zeb and Jolene's wedding and is stuck playing sympathetic ear to their problems with the future werewolf in-laws. Meanwhile Gabriel, supposedly in love forever with Jane, keeps disappearing on business out of town and won't tell Jane what it'...more

OMG this book bored me to tears!!!
The first book was just OK, at least it had a mystery involved and some sort of character development. The first 200 pages of this book could have been omitted completely as this book dragged and dragged!! I skipped about 14 chapters just to skim the last chapter to get closure.

It seemed that 99% of this book is a clear reflection of the authors personal taste in music, books, and remants of her own failures in highschool. The main character's entire family ju...more

Just as funny as the first book, now I know that it wasn't just a fluke. In this book, Jane is in the bridal party for her best friend Zeb's Titanic themed wedding to Joelene a werewolf. She also has a new job at an occult bookstore and is trying to figure out what to do about her lack of money. There are the occasional fights with Gabriel and the makeup sessions that pass after that, and her interactions with her family as well. When Jane is with her family I find it so hilarious and also very...more

I liked this book better than the first one. But by the end I was sooooo tired of hearing about the wedding and all the ways it was going to be trashy!!

Jane seems to be adjusting to her new life well. There are issues with Gabriel, like where the heck he has been going. I am hoping that we learn about that next book.

The whole wedding thing had the feeling of the Hatfields and McCoys. Although it was funny to see all the ways both sides could scorn the other. What happened to Zeb was fairly predi...more

Jane's back, and just as hilarious as ever. :] I loved the first book, and was looking forward to the next one. Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed - I loved it.

When I first picked up Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs, I was expecting it to be pretty much the same as most of the ever present vamp books out atm. I suppose in some aspects it is, but this book has something most don't - it's FUNNY. And I'm not talking about snorts of amusement here, though there are many - I'm talking real laughs. I really like this series. I've seen a lot of people compare it to the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mysteries (which is not a bad thing, given their success) since they are both set in the south and involve vampires. But whereas Sookie is more of a Paranormal/Mystery/Romance, the Jane Jameson series is a Paranormal/HUMOR/Romance series. I've read a lot of vampire books and it's nice to read one that doesn't take itself too seriously. Vampires are named "Dick Cheney" (he had it first) not L...more

Zeb's wedding is coming up and neither of their families is happy about it, but they still decide to do a Titanic themed wedding. What could go wrong, right? Zeb's mother is specially unhappy about her son's wedding and will make the happy couple miserable, which will eventually become Jane's problem. But Jane already has money problems, sister problems, boyfriend's problems and her horrible Grandma Ruthie found a new victim during her ex burial. Jane has a lot of fires to put out!

After the first book, I was expecting a book filled with action (of some sort) hilarious internal monologuing, sexy vampire moments, wise cracks out the yin yang, relationship development among various characters, and Jane getting into one type of exaggerated situation after another. All but one were delivered.

Planning a wedding is BORING to me. I'm engaged, and I don't know that the walk down the isle will ever happen, because I'm just not clear-head enough, nor do I have the attention span nec...more

Jane Jameson is at it again, and this time she's back planning the wedding between her best friend and his werewolf fiancé. And you know there's bound to be more paranormal creatures, sarcastic comments from Jane, and mystery from the dark and broody Gabriel.

Jane is even more lovable in this book than she was before. She's finally getting used to being undead (though her family, obviously, is not) and she's finally found her place in the paranormal bookshop owned by an adorable old man. Her rel...more

Preferred book 2 over book 1
http://anotherlookbookreviews.blogspo...

I really enjoyed the pop culture reference lovin Jane Jameson in Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men. I preferred this book two over the first book, Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs. This book was toned down comedy wise compared to book 1 and I found the humour to be less forced and more natural. Jane Jameson has some great lines. I was at work when I read these lines in the lunch room and I was giggling like crazy.

The 2nd installment in the Jane Jameson series was as good as the 1st one. I am in love with these characters.

Jane & Jenny are still not on good terms after the fight in "Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs". In fact Jenny is suing Jane for some items that were left to Jane from Aunt Jettie. Jenny is such a spoiled little brat that you want to bitch slap her. Jenny still feels that house should be hers and that she is entitled to certain items with in the house. Jenny is still uncomfortable with Jan...more

What can I say about this book? The women are still the villains. Jane is still snippy. This book was a good addition to the series. I was reading it late the night before last and realized that it is set up similarly to sitcom in how the dialogue is written.... it was a creepy realization. But I transcended (I do not like most sitcoms) and read on.

In this story, Jane is less "new vampire" and more "recent vampire" which means that she is less surprised about the changes in herself, and a little...more

For 4 stars. I enjoy the humor from Jane & It is a light read but, I also enjoy a strong woman who

My mother remembers an 8-year-old me setting up my “writing office” in our living room by putting her old manual typewriter on the couch next to a toy phone. And I (very slowly) pecked out the story of my third-grade class taking a trip around the world and losing a kid in each city.

I had a dark sense of humor, even then.
