love love love the private series. they have to be my favorite teen non-fantasy/paranormal series.i love the dark air they have about them, it makes them different from a typical "mean girl" series. kate brian does a wonderful job.
i was soooo overjoyed when i saw this book sitting on the bookstore shelf, excpet for the fact if was short ): but i really liked this book, i love that the attempts on Reed's life were more dangerous and more succesful than they have been in the past, with the person...more

Suspicion was the tenth book in the private series by Kate Brian, which I really enjoy. I like all the drama in the books, it makes my life seem so much more normal. In suspicion, Reed, is constantly getting attacked, and nearly killed. And this is all because of a guy she likes. I guess I can relate to the fear. Reed was kidnapped and held at gun point on some random island. My situation might not have been that extreme, but there are everyday situations where I found myself scared. Just the fe...more
When I was sent this book to review, I wasn’t too sure if I would enjoy it. The Private series is aimed at the fans of Gossip Girl, and from what I’ve heard about Gossip Girl, I’m pretty sure it’s not my time type of thing; I’m not one for popular, superficial girls, it just doesn’t entertain me. I thought I would give Suspicion a go anyway, to see if I would be surprised. Unfortunately, I wasn’t.

In the tenth novel of the Private series, you can't help but to feel very sympathetic to poor Reed. Who isn't out to get her these days?
After a wild New Year's bash thrown in honor of Sawyer's life saving abilities, Reed has some after party plans with Upton Giles. He leaves early to get everything prepared, and sends a chartered boat to take Reed back to the island. Except, all goes wrong, and Reed ends up in the middle of a kidnapping plot, and stranded on a deserted island.

When we last left Reed Brennen, she was treading water in the middle of the ocean in a couture ball gown. When we meet Reed again, well, she’s still treading. She’s been pushed of a boat on Casino Night in St. Barths. While she thought this would be a great way to relax after finding out her roommate at Easton was trying to kill her, it’s been nothing but. She’s had three near-death experiences, but that’s nothing compared to what she’s got coming. Someone on the island is trying to kill her and...more
Good book. I was eagerly waiting for this book to be released, but I usually wait 'till I can put it on hold at the library. As much as I am hooked to the series, the book only takes a few hours to read so I don't know if buying it is worth it, yet.
Unfortunately, with this one, I had the outcome predicted by Chapter 2 or 3. Now, I don't think this is to blame from the writing. I think that after so many of her books, I can predict how she will conclude better. Later on, it becomes much more obv...more

This book is about Reed and Noelle's winter break vacation to St. Baths in the Caribbean! They start out having fun and they meet hot guys but then suddenly someones got it out for Reed and they won't stop until the job is finished, and that job is that she is dead. Now Reed and her friends must stop this killer from striking and try not to get themselves killed!

Having read the first nine books of the private series in less than a week, I was very eager to read the tenth book, unfortunately the public library didn't have it. Yesterday, I spent my dad at the book store finally reading Suspicion! Paradise Lost left off with the biggest cliff hanger ever, so Suspicion picked up where it left off. I have to say this was one of my least favorite of the books in the Private series, but that doesn't mean it was a bad book. I have to say I felt really sorry for...more
Even though this series has never been realistic, it was nevertheless entertaining and intriguing, keeping me looking forward to the new installment. But now this series has gone from unrealistic to downright ridiculous.
Reed has turned into a one-woman circus. She attracts jerks, jealous psychos, murderers and stalkers like moths to a flame. I am considering abandoning this series, something that I hadn't considered before, that's how bad things have gotten. I'll await the third installment of...more

people who don't mind reading the same thing over and over and over and over again
I didn't like this book. Why, you may ask.
Well, here's one thing. When I first read Private and Invitation only and Untouchable, I found the tension thrilling and captivating. Now, after reading about the 20 millionth time someone's tried to kill Reed, I am tired and extremely ANNOYED at the murder attempts and the secret threats. It seems to me as if Kate Brian secretly hates Reed or something and tries to kill her off but then realises towards the end of the book that if she kills Reed in the...more

Suspicion tells the story of Reed Brennan who is holidaying with her rich friends on a Carribean Island. The story begins with Reed stranded in the middle of the ocean after being pushed off a boat by a mysterious attacker. Although this is the eleventh book in the Private series and I hadn't read any of the previous books, I found it easy to follow and a complete story in itself. Suspicion can definitely be read as a stand alone novel.

I'm only going to say a few things: I am almost going to give up reading this series because I can't take any more crap that Reed or Noelle have to go through. I think Noelle is a good friend (in her own strange way) but no matter what, the more she tries to protect Reed, the more trouble Reed gets into. I think the moment Reed stepped foot on Easton is when her destiny was decided. I am certain that only more bad things await Reed and Noelle and the rest of the Billings' girls in the near futur...more
This is officially my worst book in the entire series. This book and Paradise Lost could have been one book, but for some reason it was split up. Half of it as pointless, especially the stranded island part. And Reed Seriously Needs to Get Some Therapy. It is for her own good. (view spoiler)...more
NOTE: this was originally a comment on a review for this book, but I decided that this really was more of MY review, but whatever:P
Here it is, my review:
Okay, so funny story. I read this book in about 30 minutes, it was so short, and at the end I thought what I think after I read any YA book: "Wow, that was great!"
So i went on Goodreads and gave it 5 stars.
BUT, as usual, the more I though about it, the more flaws I could see in it.
I find my new review close to yours actually.

Man, what I would give to know what makes the dudes so into Reed, while most chicks pretend to like her, but really they loathe her, well except Noelle. If Reed was my friend I am not certain I wouldn't drop her just to be rid of the drama that follows this poor girl where ever she goes. This story feels like one you have read many times before, and until the end of it when Kate Brian throws in a huge twist did I realize I would be reading the next book in the series out in March. With that said...more
Will this series ever end?
The first two books of this series were actually not bad, the drama was believable, and the plot lines were fresh. Fast forward to Suspicion and all of that is gone. The same basic and totally farfetched plotline that applies to the last seven books is back again. The only reason I read this book in the first place was because I wanted to know how the series ends. For the next book I'm going to save myself the painstaking effort of reading the whole thing and just look...more

In this book poor Reed's luck (or lack there of) gets worse. Is there anyone who wants Reed alive?
I don't really like Reed with Upton, he seems to much of a player. But all Reed has planned is to spend quality time with him, when of course someone tries to get her.
All on vacation in St. Barths. I like Sawyer. I was very upset that Josh didn't try to contact Reed at all. He was at Easton with Ivy. I really like Josh with Reed but after him not contacting her I want her with Sawyer.

Ah, not since Sweet Valley High #56, "Lost at Sea," have I read such a delightful tale of survival on an unforgiving isle! Although this was the shortest Private book ever and took about two hours tops to read, it was jam-packed with scandal and excitement! I did start to suspect (natch) who the villain was, but many misleading clues kept me guessing. I LOVED the glimpses of Thomas Pearson in this!
Next up, "Scandal" all the way in March. Where will the Billings girls go now and what shall they...more

The Private series is really boring me now. I thoguht the series was going to be more addictive but the only book I actually loved was Invitation Only. The mystery in the books aren't predictible but very uninteresting. I feel Reed is still bragging about how she nearly died and she won't ever get over it. I wouldn't say Suspicion was down right awful but was close to it. The writing style was very good but no the best. Suspicion might be the last book I read of the series. It was an ok read but...more
Unfortunately I'm finding the Private series less and less likable as the series goes on. I find it really difficult to believe that any of these things would feasibly happen to one person, and even more different to believe Reed didn't just gtfo that damn island the first couple of times she was nearly killed. The first books in this series were fun and captivating, but I feel like Kate Brian is getting more and more desperate to have grander and grander hijinks- and she's not necessarily pulli...more
I have completely enjoyed all of the Private series in the past. My favorites were definitely 3-8. I was so eager to read Suspicion because at the end of Paradise Lost it really leaves you hanging and you want to know what happens next, but *sigh*. You have to wait a couple of months for the next book. Like all of the Private series books, you get so into them that it doesn't seem like that long of a read. I liked it. It wasn't my favorite though. It was more predictible than others but was pret...more

Believe it or not, SUSPICION is the tenth novel in Kate Brian's PRIVATE series. And SUSPICION picks up where PARADISE LOST ended. The girls are still holidaying on St. Barths.

“I was still alive. Ha! Take that kidnappers. Still alive. Maybe it was my butt that was feeding me. I always thought it was kind of round. I bet my body was eating up all the fat stores from my butt now. Yeah. See, having a big ass is a good thing. Good, good, good. They should put that in magazines. Why diet? Why stay thin? If you ever get kidnapped and left for dead, your fat ass could save your life!”
