When I picked this one up I really had not idea what to expect and didn't realize it was book #3 in a series. I think it was fine to dive into book 3 It works as a stand alone.
My favorite part about this book was the romance between Helene and Phillip. I loved that they had a second chance at love. I was a little startled at the m/m scenes but I was okay with them and saw them as part of Phillips journey to rediscover himself after a horrible marriage.

I loved this book. Loved it.....loved it......loved it. I didn't want it to end, I couldn't put it down and the only reason I didn't read it in one sitting was because, you know, I have a job to go to.
Book 3 of this series tells the story of Madame Helene - who is the owner of the House of Pleasure. I love a good tortured hero. I also love a good tortured heroine. Fortunately for me, this book has both.

I tremendously enjoyed reading Madame Helene's story, it is a beautiful tragedy, a story of fate, desperation, triumph, betrayal, and eroticism. Those are just some of the few things one could find while reading this, it heightened my senses, really engaged me and made me wonder, and I admired Helene's character, she's one strong woman who did what was necessary to survive. Given what she went through at the tender age of 14, she's more practical than romantic. I can't help but feel for her, as ...more
This was ok, but not as good as the first two books, Simply Sexual and Simply Sinful.
STORY BRIEF:
Philip was in India for awhile where he learned erotic delights. He returns to England where he meets and shows Helene what he knows. They fall in love at first sight, but Helene leaves him because his family arranged a marriage for him to another woman, and Helene refuses to be a mistress to him. She opens a private club for men – a house of pleasure. Years later, Philip’s wife...more

What a remarkable book this one is! Ergo, five stars are given to this book. I agreed with others who had read this book that the story is so, so great and it's the best too! Much better than the previous two books.
I liked the beginning of this book where Helene and Philip met for the first time. The instant spark of love happened between them. Although the event was short, it was so romantic and filled with so much love. I awed. However, these two separated. When two were meant toget...more

I really enjoyed this book.
I'm a big fan of second chance love stories, especially when the characters are multidimensional and the reason they didn't work out originally makes sense. The backstory on how Helene came to be a Madam was well done and really made Helene a heroine I could get behind. She was a strong confident woman who did what needed to be done. Philip is a great hero, angsty and tortured in his own way, yet strong and confident enough to be with a woman like Helene...more

So far this would probably be my least favorite in the series. But I think it's because I spoiled myself by accidently reading this series out of order in the beginning. This book is amazing of course but if I'm being completely honest, I don't think there were enough love scenes!! LOL.....don't get me wrong there were PLENTY in this one and they were ON FIRE HOT...but like I said above...I read out of order in the beginning so I've seen much more hotter and riskier scenes! :) This one is pro...more
I enjoyed this book immensely. Once I started reading I had a hard time putting it down and ended up reading the whole thing in one day. I'd probably have to say that this is my favorite of the series so far.
Series Note: This book is the third in the House of Pleasure series (historical erotic romance), but can likely be read as a stand-alone with no problems. There are some references to past events and characters, but the story is pretty independent. I believe there is also a ...more

This was another excellent addition to the House of Pleasure series. It was somewhat thicker in plot and had a little less action that previous books in the series but that didn't really diminish its appeal. This was a book that brought in aspects of the French Revolution nicely and gave light to some of the harsh realities of that time. It was very interesting to see how the House began and get to know the enigmatic character Madame Delornay and understand her history. This is an excellent ...more
The best in the series so far! I LOVED these characters; strong characters, great build up of personal history and interesting background history and setting; post french revolution. The characters had chemistry and passion and unlike the others, this was a very confident, assertive female lead in control of her own sexuality. I found it interesting how she came into the life of a Madame. Her history made for a much mroe sympathetic and strong character.

This was good, but I didn't love it like I have the others in this series. I thought the story had so much potential, but the love between Helene and Philip didn't really ring true to me. They spent so much time bickering and mistrusting and trying to out-maneuver each other that you didn't really see many times where they let their love grow. Pearce does write excellent erotica, though, so even a not-great attempt (for her) is really good.

Serinin en konulu ve ilgimi çeken, itici gelmeyen hikayesi. Yazarın bu kurguları nasıl bulduğuna hala şaşırıyorum. Fazla detay veremeyeceğim. Merak eden sorsun ;)
Love this! Very hot and sensual. The best one from the House of Pleasure series so far! ♥ It has just the right amount of heat and drama to keep things interesting until the very end.
I really enjoyed this book. I began the series with this one and had no problem with the story, which was nice.
I really liked the hero and heroine in this one. Helene with her tragic past was a strong character, and I found Philip intriguing. There passionate encounter is absolutely hot, and I love that they get a 2nd chance at love. Really good story, well written, good plot, good sex scenes! Good characters!

More complicated than the first two in the series, and in some respects better. It was not what I expected as it wasn't as erotic as the first two.
This was much more character development and history. I do like the real world problems and how the characters try to make them worse while claiming that they are just doing the best that they can.
