الرواية جميلة لبساطتها وإنسانية فكرتها قال عنها يحيى حقي إنها أخرجته من إطار الملل الذي لحق به من خلال قراءته للكثير من الروايات الرمزية والذي يستلزم جهدا مضاعفا من القارىء في رأي حقي أنه لا يحتاجه!
كما ذكر إنه قرأها بالصدفة وعمل على ترجمتها لأنها لاقت استحسانه ..
الرواية تدور حول إمرأة اختفى زوجها في ظروف غامضة وبذلت كل جهدها وأموالها حتى تسمع عنه خبرا ، الجميل في هذه الرواية هو رسم شخصية الزوجة بهذا العنفوان الأبي وهذا الوفاء النادر على الرغم من أن حياتها مع زوجها لم تكن مثالية !

'Baltagul' is a book that, to my great surprise, has stuck with me for the past many years. I first read it for school and then again for my own pleasure, and I remember it quite well.
This is a fascinating detective book that sets itself apart easily from the normal classic Romanian literature. A central theme is still the need of the peasant for wealth, but it is woven into a whole new style of narrative, less common.
For the Romanian boys and girls out there, I would recommend they read this...more

Ce ma frapeaza cel mai mult este ca Baltagul este un roman semi-politist. Thriller de tip romanesc? Pai, foarte simplu. Cativa ciobani se bat pe oi! Nu mi-a placut cartea asta, poate si din cauza lipsei de afinitate pentru autori romani vechi. Proza romaneasca, cel putin cea numita "clasica", nu m-a atras niciodata.
Sper ca la urmatoarea citire sa pot sa vad mai mult in cartea aceasta, dar pe moment.. Nu.

Contrary to popular belief (e.g. everyone in my class), I don't actually hate everything our teacher assigns us to read just because it was assigned to us and that makes me obligated to read it rather than choosing it on my own. Take this book for example, it's not exactly one of my favorite books of all time but I have to admit I didn't hate it, I actually enjoyed it until a certain point, ergo the 3 star rating.
Took me ~ 3h to read it with some breaks but I didn't find it boring at all. Since I enjoy detective books this one was a pretty good read. I recommend it if you don't have anything better to read and I say this because it was a book from school and almost everyone agrees that those are not really the best books in the world
A shepherd's wife from Northern Moldavia goes looking for her missing husband, discovers he has been murdered, investigates and discovers the perpetrators. I read this in junior high-school. It was compulsory reading for the high-school admission exam. Would I re-read it today? Hmm...
A good mystery novel, obviously better the first time you read it but only because you know what's going on after that point, even if you forget or miss some details; still an enjoyable read even the second time and a welcomed genre change in Romanian literature.
Am citit aceasta carte doar pentru ca a fost nevoie. Nu mi-a placut deloc. Finalul a fost mai interesant, dar restul cartii m-a facut sa adorm de plictiseala. De obicei, imi place sa citesc ce scrie Mihail Sadoveanu, dar de data asta lucrurile s-au schimbat.
First time I saw the movie. It is a must read book at school and the first impression was: W.T.f. .... All the children screaming at the cinema: Kissss ittt!!! Kissss it!!! as the head is found in the cold...
Am citit cartea pentru ca mi-a trebuit la scoala. Bineinteles nu am inteles mai nimic , dar la scoala am aprofundat-o si totul a fost limpede...

N-am inteles nimic, absolut nimic din cartea asta :(

Cam 2.75 stelute :)) Nu m-a plictisit, dar Vitoria m-a exasperat la culme.

Pentru o carte scrisa de un roman, mi-a placut foarte mult - desi a intampinat o reticenta naturala. Personajele sunt bine creionate, iti faci o opinie pana si despre Nechifor, actiunea se leaga placut si la ce instrumente rudimentare de investigatie aveau - cainele - reusita lor este neasteptata si nu pare 'fortata' deloc.
Un roman superv ce prezinta taria de caracter si indarjirea unei femei care e capabila sa treaca peste tot si toate pentru a-si indeplini datoria de sotie.
A trebuit sa citesc cartea aceasta din obligatie, daca nu era profa de romana care sa ma puna sa o citesc nu o citeam. A fost foarte plictisitoare, 2-3 parti interesante, nimic mai mult. Mai mult de * nu merita.
