Tara Sweet, a sensible, predictable, older sister had her life turned upside down when her Mother suddenly marries a very younger man and Tara's long time boyfriend dumps her. She never thought that she would be moving back to her hometown of Otter Bay, but before her Dad passed away he made her promise to return. With no ties to keep her in Missouri, and in hopes to relive some of the good memories of her youth, she takes off for Otter Bay.

Tara's mom leaves for her whirlwind honeymoon...more

I listed this novel under "inspirational" instead of "spiritual" because the spiritual end of things was underplayed and doesn't truly show up until the end of the book. I think it goes more in depth in the second book so if I decide to read it it'll probably be considered "spiritual"...we'll see.

I appreciated the growth shown in the main character, Tara. The steps taken for her to achieve certain insights to herself and change particular characteristic...more

In the book Sweet Waters, there’s nothing left for Tara Sweet in Dexton, Missouri. Her fiancé called off their wedding, her sister is moving to Manhattan, and now her mother is marrying a much younger man with plans for an extended honeymoon in Europe. Tara believes a move back to her childhood home of Otter Bay, California, will help restore the fun and fearlessness she’s already missing in her twenties. For me, this is a good "beach read," and also makes you reflect on your life and ...more

Tara Sweet never thought that she would be moving back to her hometown of Otter Bay, California. After Tara’s fiancé’ calls off their wedding, there isn’t much left for Tara to do in Missouri, so moving back home for a new start is exactly what Tara needs.

It seems that Tara isn’t the only one looking for new adventures. Tara’s sister, Liz is planning to move to Manhattan and their mother will be traveling the European countries with her new younger husband of eight years her junior,...more

Recommends it for: fiction, Romance, faith, little bit of intrigue
Returning to a safe place after several major changes in her life...that safe place isn't what she remembered. I thought Julie was writing about my life. Very easy read.

I enjoyed the premise of this book: Tara returning to Otter Bay to fulfill her father's dying request and discovering things about her parents she never could have imagined. However, her discoveries were a bit drawn out...it seemed to take forever to get even the smallest (and usually very vague) pieces of information. Tara's relationship with Josh was quite juvenile and the nicknames that she and her sister, Melanie, had for each other (Tare-Tare and Mel-Mel) made me crazy.

It was a good book but it being the 2nd in the series the only thing it had in contact with the 1st book is that it's held in the same place.
