two words for you... Danielle Steel sucks rocks in a big way. So that was more than two words, but well... she freaking does. I bought this for a quick beach read and realized that I've never read DS before. And now I know why... because she's retarded. I absolutely hate the way this woman writes... beat a dead horse much? I'm retarded for buying it - even with the 40% off. I will gladly pay you to take it off my hands... else it will end up as starter wood in our chiminea.

This was the first book I've read in my lifetime that I wanted to return to the store for a refund. I also contemplated burning it to spare others the agony of picking it up and reading it. The characters were shallow and self-centered, but the worst was the doormat mentality of the "heroine" in the story. Danielle Steel should be ashamed of herself for offering up the same tired storyline in every book and selling it to the gullible. I would give this book a negative five stars if Goodreads wou...more

I just started reading this book last night. I got it becuase it sounded like an interesting plot. Who doesn't want to read about the rich glamourous life of celebrities? So far it's been a let down. I don't know if I can finish it. I got about 100 pages in but it took me about 3 hours to do it, because, it does not keep my attention at all. I think (so far) it has been poorly written. I don't need to read about how much she loves being a housewife or how good her sex life is 20 times a chapter,...more
I hated the 1st two chapters. I will give the book a chance as, when in need of a light, quick read, I have enjoyed other Danielle Steel novels. Update: It never gets better. This book is aggravatingly bad. I usually like a book like this after a serious read or when nursing a hangover and can't quite get thru anything else. This book is headache inducing. I would rather drink a bucket of margaritas and wake up in the Sahara then go through this experience again.

Admittedly, I am a Danielle Steel fan. I first discovered her books in 1993 and have read several since then.
When I initially heard the title of the book "Bungalow 2", I began to wonder if I had suddenly missed out on "Bungalow 1". Obviously, after reading more into the storyline, I discovered this title refers to the "on location" set that the lead character, Tanya Harris, has left her family for. A devoted wife and mother, Tanya is branching out from her San Francisco suburb and taking on Holl...more

In the interest of not beating a dead horse or only repeating the same monotony complaint other reviewers have covered - I'd rather talk about the other problems with this book. Not to say it wasn't monotonous (it was) and that alone made it a 'scan' read. A book you don't read every single word on the page but rather scan paragraphs for some dialogue or action that is doing the job of moving the story forward.

Tanya Harris is a forty-something mother and homemaker, and a part time, moderately successful writer of short stories and soap opera scripts. Tanya is a beautiful woman with stable, happy teenagers, a fulfilling and sexually active marriage, a career she loves, and no desire for any other life. She has long given up on her dream of someday writing a screenplay, but then her agent calls with an offer that's very hard to refuse: a major director wants her and her alone for a new high profile film...more
"Tanya nu dorise sa stea in Bungalow-ul 2 cu el fiindca fusese acolo cu prea multi barbati. Scrisese trei filme acolo, plansese dupa Peter, se despastise de Douglas si si distrase cu Gordon, cel putin o vreme. Se simtisera bine, dar nu durase mult. Nu voia sa stea cu Phillip intr-o camera pe care o impartise cu alti trei barbati, in momente diferite." - un pasaj din roman, spre sfarsitul lui.

The story was a good one. I feel like the characters were well presented that an image came to my mind each time that really gave me a good view of the story. This is the first book I've read by her and she's veerrrryy rambly. I feel like she was just filling up pages by repeating herself several times. A story doesnt have to be long to be good. I may or may not read others by her. I feel a little of her own personal writers fantasy is that of this book. Way to dream Steel! Although every good b...more
I listened to this book on CD while going back and forth to work. The best part of this book for me was learning more about the process of screen writing and making movies. The rest was just sort of flat and ho-hum. I really like DS and normally her books are entertaining and I may even find myself wondering how a certain character turned out. The main character was so spineless and annoying that it ruined the story. I could write about all the things that I disliked but it will just take time a...more
The story of a women writer who leaves her family in San Francisco to live in LA to write a screen play for Hollywood movie. Initially reluctant to go away from her family to work on a film, she accepts the opportunity as her husband supports her. However, her life changes dramatically , how the family starts rifting finally takes away her happy-marriage. Her experiences in Hollywood gives you a inner close look at the lives and life styles of celebrities . A good read.
I cannot say this was the best book by Danielle Steel and it did take me longer than usual to finish it. However, I still enjoyed the story line and actually felt like it was an entertaining read. I agree with many reviews. She did repeat herself a lot and the end did seem like it was underdeveloped, unlike the beginning of the book. But I found that I wanted to know what happened at the end and how things turned out. Overall, I would say that it is one of those books you read while commuting in...more
What a great book! This is my the first book by Danielle Steel that I have read and was I ever impressed. A great story-line about a female writer whose husband really wants her to take the opportunity of a life-time to write a script for a hollywood movie. She moves to L.A. and a few months later finds her husband cheating her on with her best friend. Then the story follows her life and romances over the next few years. Such a great book. I am looking forward to reading more of her stories!!!
I enjoyed this book so much better than Honor Thyself by Danielle Steel which I reveiwed last week. The character development was stronger and the storyline more interesting. My one complaint about this book was I felt the development of the last relationship in the book was a bit underdeveloped. Timeline wise it wasn't rushed but I just didn't feel like I understood that relationship as well or was as into it as the others. This is a good summer read!
Very poorly written, the author kept on repeating herself as if she was trying to fill out pages. Steel's earlier work was fabulous, but the latest books I've read of hers were awful. It's like she writing to meet a quota, her stories have no depth. I found myself skimming through this book and it felt like it was never going to end. No more Danielle Steel books for this girl!
I like Danielle Steel's books in general - they are usually a very easy fluff read, but this one was really hard for me to get into. I had to take it back to the library after several renewals, and then I didn't pick it up again for a couple of years. I finally finished it, but the subject matter and then the ending just left me dry.
You're in page 100 but you don't know anything that you didn't know at page 10.Really.Does the writer think that we read one page per month?I can't explain otherwise why she keeps repeating the same stuff over and over. It's driving you insane.

okay. after reading this, what i really said was "WHAT WAS THAT?"
i mean, i've come to love danielle steel but this one really disappointed me. i would have loved it if she stopped the story when Tanya broke up with Douglas Wayne, but instead, she continued the story and introduced to more boys to Tanya's life just so that it'll have a happy ending. I THINK I WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS STORY BETTER THAN HER. HAHAHA!

This book suckeeeeeeed..it dragged on way too long, and i lost count of how many times the phrase "made love" was used. It was cute at parts, but it dragged on and on..Is it bad that it was somewhat entertaining to me when she got cheated on? All the perfection was getting to me haha. I'm not heartless, I promise, but after I finished it, I left it on the plane. I never wanted to even look at it again
This is the first Danielle Steel book that I didn't like. I'm a fan but this book just didn't do it for me. Tanya was not a believable charachter. In fact, she was annoying! I didn't even finish the book. Disappointing because I've always loved reading stories by Danielle. She's one of my favorite authors.

This book is a wonderful book about a woman's journey to a everyday mom to an award-winning screenwriter. There is happiness, heartbreak, and "challenges along the way". Basically in the book she usually wrote paragraphs in newspapers, magazines, and stuff like that. All of the sudden her agent calls her and she gets a deal with Douglas Wayne who wants her to write is screen play. While she's writing the screenplay and having to leave her family lots of stuff happens. During this whole trip lea...more

Since 1981, Ms. Steel has been a permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover and paperback bestseller lists. In 1989, she was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having at least one of her books on the Times bestseller list for 381 consecutive weeks. But Guinness was premature. The fact is that one or more of Ms. Steel's novels have been on the New York Times bestseller list for...more
