I was moved by the contributions that Old Tom had on the game of golf and how he and Young Tom influenced how golf is played today. The author was able to convey the highs and extreme lows of both of their lives and how hard life was in those times.
What an incredible book, which is about Old and Young Tom Morris. I learned so much about the history of golf and its humble beginnings at St. Andrews and Prestwick.

great book, learned a lot about golf history all while reading a well told story.
This was a well written book and the story would be very interesting to golf fans, which I am not. I read it because it is history and I got it for $1.
Great tale of two of the founders of golf in the 19th century that engages you with the human ups and downs of these two colorful characters and their society in late 19th century Scotland.
An excellent record of the origins of golf with the two Morrises who dominated competitive golf in Scotland including of course The opens. Morris senior effectively built St Andrews.
