I'd give this about a 1.5 if I could. I didn't actively HATE it, I just actively disliked it. It was a bookclub book, and although I'd never pick it up on my own, I really did try to keep an open mind. I've never read any Nora Roberts before, so I didn't know what to expect. Well, scratch that. I did expect that someone who seems to crank out books as fast as she does would at least know a little bit about the fundamentals of writing. In that expectation, I was sorely disappointed. The incomplet...more

So I thought this was supposed to be a holiday read? Oh well, it was a sweet story nonetheless. It started out strong, so much mystery, suspense, and passion, but then it fizzled out pretty weakly. Overall it was a quick, easy read with a sweet sentiment.

I’ve returned once more to the land of Nora Roberts. I’m working my way through an intense non-fiction piece about art in World War II at the moment and I needed a break to something fun and fluffy. So while making what has become my weekly trip to the library I picked up Gabriel’s Angel, a new to me Nora Roberts for a much needed palate cleanser. I’m happy to report that this is not as painful as my previous forays into early Roberts fare this year. While this story is simplistic and lacking in...more

Pregnant and alone, Laura Malone, gets stuck on a Colorado road in the middle of a blizzard. Gabriel Bradley, a renowned painter, rescues her and brings her to his home to ride out the storm.

Both have suffered losses with different results. Gabriel his beloved brother and he no longer feels a reason to live. Laura has lost a philandering, abusive and wealthy husband and is now running from his parents who are determined to take her child from her as soon as he is born. She believes that they wil...more

I cannot for the life of me think of why Gabriel fell in love with Laura. She's a meek, insecure, door mat that has no redeeming quality except her beauty, which she herself says is all she has. She finally got a back bone for a full two minutes and then quickly lost it again.

I imagine their HEA is full of Gabriel trying to convince her to stop apologizing for breathing. Dear god, Laura is a horrible character. Not like... a horrible person or a villain or anything, she just has nothing to recom...more

This is the first book I've read by Nora Roberts. I know she's a famous author, but the fact is, after a long hiatus from reading (too much interest in the computer), I've stuck mostly to my first love, which is historical romance. Back in the day, I read a lot of Harlequin Romances, which were contemporary, but since starting to read again, I've not read much in the contemporary line.

However, I have to say that I loved this story! It was wonderful, caught my attention from the get-go, and held...more

I debated whether or not I should give this book 2 or 3 stars. My rating is probably somewhere between the two. I got very, very annoyed by the POV Nora Roberts used to narrate this story. The varying third person POV drove me crazy! It constantly switched between telling Gabe and Laura's thoughts and they were thinking the exact same things. The book could've been half the size and a lot less redundant had Nora Roberts just chose to tell one side. The story line of the book also seemed to drag...more

Bought this book at 2am and read it in one day. Predictable love story. I like Nora Roberts, more so her Eve Dallas series. They are somewhat predictable as well, but there is suspense, as well as twists and turns. Can't read too many in a row (like I did last year). I loved the story of Laura, Gabe and Michael. I didn't expect the former mother-in-law's actions. I would have preferred a longer book with a more detailed fight for custody. All in all it was entertaining. I like books to leave me...more

Another good book by Nora Roberts. She is such a fabulous writer it never fails to amaze me how with each book I read of hers I always want more.
A snow storm, a woman on the run to protect her unborn child and a man trying to find his way back.
Gabriel's Angel is a book of growth, courage and the strength to over come life altering sorrow and violence. Gabriel and Laura are two people running from tragedy who don't see they need someone to help them. Both have a hard time seeing what's in front...more

I have nothing against the romance lit, but I have only read a handful of books from that genre - most of them paranormal-esque and from Nora Roberts. So, when looking for some light and fluffy holiday reading, I thought this might do the trick. If anyone asked me how this book was, I would give a resounding, "Well, it's okay!"

I'm not really sure how to rate Gabriel's Angel. It's not bad, but I found myself just waiting for it to end. It's a good, sweet story filled with affluent people of both...more

First off, GABRIEL'S ANGEL is, indeed, a reprint of the original Silhouette edition that was published in 1989. I had read this story years ago, but wanted to reread it and was intrigued with the new cover. Is the book a Christmas story? Not in the literal sense. In the way that it inspires love, happiness, selflessness, and a sense of well-being, then yes, it's a good holiday read.

Laura Malone, former model and a woman whose face was known worldwide, is on the run--not from an abusive husband...more

I read this years ago, but read it again after I saw a new cover. I did not recognize the title. It is not really a Christmas story, but does take place in the winter. It is a sweet story about facing obstacles in your life and moving forward. One has faced sadness, and the other needs help. A pregnant young woman, and a grouchy artist are snowbound. It was not a deep story, nor one of Robert's best, but I still enjoyed it. It was a quick read, and had a good story about new beginnings.

I know I gave it a 5 star before, but after my english has improved and I re-read it for the second time, I found that there are things I don't like about this book. Don't misunderstand, I still love it overall, but just not as much as I used to.

Maybe because it was one of Nora Roberts earlier works. Maybe because I'm under a paranormal spell of the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter and Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. But I found something lacking in Gabriel's Angel. The rel...more

. The book involves a pregnant lady, Laura Malone, alone on the run from her husband’s family. She is caught in a snow storm, but is rescued by a handsome artist, Gabriel Bradley. I am a pregnant Laura and read this during the cold of March so it was the perfect book for me!

Gabriel’s Angel is a short vintage 1980’s Nora Roberts romance. It is a quick read and a satisfying romance. I enjoyed it.

She get snowbound and is forced to stay with Gabe in his cabin till the roads clear. Will there new found love last after the snow melts and they are forced to deal with their past? A simple love story and a fun easy read.

Another good Nora Roberts book.

The front cover might make you think of Christmas but it is not set at Christmas - it must be the snow.

Laura Malone, is 8 months pregnant and on the run from her estranged in-laws, she has a car accident and artist Gabe Bradley comes to her rescue. After hearing her story he finds a need to protect her and her unborn child so they marry and it goes on from there.

I found it an enjoyable read and it was quite easy flowing.

I thought this was a Christmas-themed book. It wasn't but no matter. Overall, I liked this story of a young pregnant woman stranded with a (supposedly) gruff painter/socialite waiting out a snow storm. I wish there was more confrontation with the women in Laura's life that tried to use her. She did have backbone... I just wish we got to see more of it.

I love Nora Roberts and everything she writes is wonderful, this one was good. It was one of her older books and maybe a bit off. I don't exactly know what to say I wasn't disappointed, just pleased. Usually I'm excited when reading her books and I can't wait to read more, this one was very relaxing and didn't cause me to want to read read read.
Jess
I just have to say... if you were a pregnant woman, even if you weren't pregnant, would you follow just any guy home? I wouldn't!! It made it hard to take in the story when I couldn't stop thinking about how people don't do these things. Although it was pre-cellphone days, but still, I just couldn't suspend reality enough to believe that this would happen.

Just the tyle of book I've been craving lately, damsel in distress with a baby on the way. enjoying and engaging read for a rainy or snowy day in doors. Nora Roberts did it again, character development wasn't rushed, just wish this could have been a series or lasted longer so the ending wouldn't have been as disappointing.

this is definitely one of my favorite nora roberts books. it was just sooo much sweeter than most of her other books that seem to just have the same tough-hearted characters and wild nights. this was more quiet and intricate, and better and more original than most of her books. i really really liked it.
Lindsey
It was very interesting to read one of Nora's earlier works. Her writing style has changed and improved almost to the point that at times, I thought it seemed like a different writer. Still an enjoyable (quick) read that was worth my time. I did feel that the ending was too rushed, but not many complaints other than that.

This book was so much fun. The other night I was down in the dumps, and picked this book up from a pile that my neighbor had loaned me. I loved it! I stayed up all night reading this book, simply because it was too much fun to stop reading.

The characters felt real. The feelings that developed between them in a very short time were very believable. I could imagine things happening as the story unfolded. Some of the interactions between the characters "made my heart a flutter!"

The reason I loved this one so much is because I read it around the holidays and it just made you feel so warm inside. It was definitely a very different story from her usual novels. It was however a VERY QUICK READ. It seemed like I finished it as soon as I picked it up!

I can honestly say that if this were not a Holiday story (and i'm not really sure it is?) it would have gotten two stars. It started out really really strong and then just fizzled, wrapped up and ended. I can't say that I felt any connection or was interested in any of the characters but I kept reading. It advanced, although slowly, and then just when it can get good again it just lags. It's lacking that sparkle that her books usually have.

I borrowed this from a friend years ago and read it in one sitting. I cried, cried, and cried as I read it. I was a beautifully touching story. Now I wanna read it again. Makes me miss her now that that fiend has exited my life....

This book surprised me. I think this was one of Nora Roberts best stories. It wasn't rushed or unbelievable. The characters were scarred from their past, but they found peace and resolution in their love for each other. It was a great short read!!!
Loralee
I liked this, it's certainly a very early NR series romance, but it was good. Fast and light read. The cover is misleading thought, it doesn't take place around Christmas, but there is snow(in April) during the first part of the book. lol
Maureen Young
It was an earlier novel by Nora Roberts...Although it was a sweet novel..in the Mills and Boon fashion..Saying that I did enjoy it. Both characters had things in their lives to come to terms with and through each other healing came.
