High fashion, high art, high expectations – this is Pretty Woman for the twenty-first century Money makes the world go round – that’s what twenty-something Grace Reeves is learning. Stuck in a grind where everyone’s ahead apart from her, she’s partied out, disillusioned, and massively in debt. If she’s dumped by another rock-band wannabe, squashed by anyone else at her cut...more

Actually I didn't finish the book.I wonder why I marked it as to-read at first place.Grace is the woman I don't want to be even if I they give me a million UK pounds(158.430.000 U.S.sdollars).She has 8 credit cards and 7 of them have reached their limit she cries because her not-so-boyfriend dumps her on her birthday even though she doesn't love him a...more

Wow this book is Amazing! I love every bits of it from beginning till' end just like a sticky toffee pudding:)

Don't click, you'll be hungry;)

Despite their difference, because of their differences, they were a perfect mismatched set. Two sides of the same tarnished penny.

If you are into Alpha billionaire Hottie well Vaughn is perfect for you but beware:

I'm still just a little bit protective of my feelings over this book. Do you ever feel that way after finishing a book that completely threw you for a loop (in the very best way)? I feel distinctly protective of our relationship, the book and I. I'm still mulling over the way things ended on my lunch break and as I lie in bed waiting to fall asleep. Because it took me by such surprise, and because I fell in love with it so fast and hard, I'm just not at all sure I'm ready to talk about the exper...more

This is going to be a tough review to make spoiler free, but I'm going to try so I apologize in advance if it seems a little fragmented.
This book was weird. I have never both loved and hated a book so strongly as I did with this one. So, I was heartened to see when I read other's reviews that I wasn't alone in this assessment. It might also be the first time I read a romance more for the heroine than the hero. Because usually it's the other way around. I kept seeing a lot of people com...more

I’m torn between hating everything in this book to loving all of it (mostly because I cannot stop thinking about the people in it.) It’s an absolute puzzle really. There was nothing good in them! The girl went from being superficial, to being whiny then to being a doormat then later worse, and the boy (if I can even call Vaughn that) is controlling, manipulative, emotionally stunted and was absolute ass.

So, why was I reading it again? Should I say it was their very imperfection that drew me? I...more

More like a 4.8/9ish, but I loved it so much I'm rounding it up.

Admittedly, this is the type of book that, on paper, normally has me shirking away. An older (albeit sophisticated) man setting up a rather naive younger woman as his mistress, not to mention his cold and ruthless behavior, generally doesn't sit well with me. But somehow, Manning manages to make it work, and I think that's the beauty of it all.

The idea of exchanging services for money is really brought into question here, because...more

“We're broken. It's like we have all these jagged edges that scare other people off, but when we're with each other, our jagged edges fit together and we're almost whole.”

On paper, Sarra Manning's Unsticky has all the trappings of a novel I should hate: a wealthy man; a desperate, naive young women and an outlandish scenario throwing the two together.

And yet, it came highly recommended by Angie, whose taste is excellent and is ver...more

OK...Honestly, I'd heard mixed reviews on this one. I didn't quite know what to expect. But I have to say I was loving this story from the very beginning. I still don't quite get the title, but that is neither here nor there. I suppose I'll have to ask the author. Anyway the characters were very thick and rich, just like the sticky toffee pudding they shared at dinner.

Every part of the story reeked of dysfunction, to the point where, it all starting sounding like real life. Grace was so flawed,...more

I loved this book! It was a long read, but it was okay 'cause I got attached to the characters. I love both Grace and Vaughn. Both of them can be annoying at times, but their imperfections make them real persons. I realized after reading that I didn't know much about Vaughn. The story mentioned about Grace's past, which made me understand why Grace is... Grace. I wished it had also shared more about Vaughn's past. Actually, I could have given this 5 stars but I felt that it ended too quickly. Af...more

I love Sarah Manning! I read Adorkable sometime last year and thought it was AMAZING! In my review I mentioned that I’d read the Fashionista books when I was a tween (meaning = I read the kissing bits over and over again and blushed at words like breast and sex.) Oh how I have changed! Looking right at you Mr Grey.)

Anyway, I saw this boo...more

I would never have picked this book up if it hadn't been for an overwhelmingly positive review that I read on one of my favourite book blogs. The description does not do Sarra Manning justice, and I am so glad that I was introduced to her writing, and Grace and Vaughn, and gave a book a try that seemed to be the opposite of everything I normally enjoy reading.

Manning is such a smart, realistic, funny writer. While the basic plot of the book may seem a little unrealistic taken out of context, I...more

I went back twice to check the date this was published because it started out a little like 50 Shades, but Gracie had way more backbone as well as an actual career. Since this book was published first, I pressed on and I am glad I did. Gracie is "broken". Both Gracie's parents abandoned her and she was raised by her grandparents and is living in London under heaps of debt stacked upon tons of denial and a serious shopping addiction. She meets Vaughn and they begin a crazy, dysfunctional and pain...more

If you were to ask me to give a broad definition of Romance, I would say that it’s a genre that mainly focuses on the love story or the development of the romantic relationship and has a happy ending; an ending that, in this particular case, always involves the characters romantically attached ending up living happily together.

But what happens when a story has all the necessary ingredients, yet everything about them is slightly off? Is it still a Ro...more

At first I was a bit daunted by how long this book is--562 pages for what's essentially a romance seemed a bit much. But by the time I'd finished the first chapter, I was a goner and I didn't look back once. This became one of those rare books that I found myself thinking about even when I wasn't reading it. Because Grace and Vaughn are so painfully real. Both of them are far, far from perfect, and they say and do so many hurtful things to each other. And there were so many times when I just cou...more

4 ½ stars. He treats her bad. They both are flawed. But good story. I was absorbed. Happy ending but abrupt.

STORY BRIEF:
Wealthy art dealer Vaughn hires Grace to be his girlfriend/mistress for six months. Vaughn is single. He doesn’t do normal relationships. Grace earns low income at a fashion magazine. She lives in a wretched place with huge credit card debt. Vaughn is 41. Grace is 23.

OPINION:
This is third person told from Grace’s point of view. We know her thoughts, feelings, and fears. We don’...more

It's NOT what I've imagined to be from this author.

Grace is vapid. Nothing interesting or remotely inviting in her character. Shallow and more then a little stupid. She gets dumped by a guy who doesn't love her, and she doesn't love him back. She cries..... Not because the relationship is over, but from the whole indignation of HOW DARE HE!

Welcome to the world of one whiny bit*h! Her shopping sprees and the way she takes care of her finances scream immaturity with an ostrich complex. Just stick...more

First, I want to promise you that this book is not a 50 Shades Of Grey copycat, even if it might sound like it from the description.

This book and its author prove that the romance genre can be as smart as it is sexy. The characters and dialogue never falter and everything feels gritty and exciting - the perfect mixture of entertainment and realism.

Grace is fantastic, and her worries rarely become annoying or trivial, as she wants more from life but has made bad choices and has been dealt a cra...more

Oh where to start with this book? I am so conflicted over this book and the characters in it that it has given me a complex. I guess I'll start by saying I've gotten into the habit of picking a book off of the listopia that are similar to other books I like and I have not been reading the summary. Just to surprise myself. I have to say I read this book because it was compared to Fifty Shades of Gray and I disagree. Grace a 23 year old nieve girl who was dumped on her birthday meets a rich 41 yea...more

This is the first book I’ve read by Sarra Manning, and I must say I enjoyed the story very much, so much that I was staying up late at night to read an extra chapter because I just could not put it down.

In Unsticky, we meet Grace, up to her eyes in debt, unhappy with life and who has just been dumped by her boyfriend – on her birthday – and right in the middle of an expensive store. It couldn’t get any worse. Then suddenly Vaughn turns up, a wealthy older man on the lookout for a female to accom...more

After reading 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me' I knew I had to read this one - I adored that book, and loved the authors style...

And this is a brilliant book! I was hooked all the way through, literally - ask my husband, I barely spoke for the two days I spent reading it.

Sarra Manning has, in Grace, created a heroine who is both hard to like and easy to love. She seems shallow at first, but it's clear that she also some deep emotional scars that make her act that way. It makes you want to kee...more

It's really strange how much I like this book, considering, when you just look at the characters, they are so flawed. Vaughn is manipulative, controlling, bossy and just plain horrible at times. Grace is whiny and passive-aggressive. When you look at the facts of this plot, it shouldn't be something I enjoy. I've condemned more than enough books before on the grounds that the man was controlling and the woman was too passive and let him walk all over her. And, on the face of things, this book sh...more

Probably one of my favorite book ever. The thing about this book is that both characters have major flaws…they were so many times I wanted Grace to yell at Vaughn because he was so controlling and they were so many times I wanted Vaughn to to tell Grace to grow up a little… but most of the times, they didn’t and when they did Manning di dit just the right way and at the end of the book, and when I read it the second time, I realize.. that the way they deal with each other is exactly why they’re...more

The characters annoyed me in this book. The storyline was basically the same as Manning’s other novel: You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me. And it was far, far too long again. It dragged and I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

So, yes, sorry, this review is pretty negative, but I just hate it when authors try to romanticise abusive relationships, because this is what happens in this book and it’s just not cool. There were bits and pieces that had me frowning throughout the book, but it was page 514...more

I read this book partly because I loved You Don't Have To Say You Love Me; because the plot were slightly the same - coming to an agreement or arrangement with time limits; and because there were people giving out 5 star ratings. After the first ten chapters, I told myself to be patient because it will get better. I was actually excited at some point because damn, it had a lot of potential or I was expecting a lot. I tried to be patient with the characters because it took some time to get accust...more

I loved reading this book. As soon as i started reading it i couldn't put it down..
Grace the main character a 23 something year old seemed very shy at the beginning but as she progressed through the book she became her own person and less clingy and more independent.
Vaughan her "boyfriend" seemed very cold and continued to be abit cold throughout the book. But we as the audience saw the different sides to him. He could be loving, playful, drunk, serious, angry and plain rude.

You guys, you know when you have one reviewer who's reviews and recommendations for books you trust 100% because you just KNOW they could never falter? Well, thats what Angie from Angieville is to me. After reading her review of this book I just knew without a shadow of a doubt that I had to read this book. I even know a few YA bloggers who rave the hell out of Sarra's YA books, which I have to say I will be tracking down like YESTERDAY!!

As far as she knows, twenty-three year old Grace Reeves has hit rock bottom. Dumped by another aspiring rock artist in her favorite department store on her birthday – well – things couldn’t get much worse. Then as she trudges on at her thankless personal assistant job for the fashion magazine Skirt, the collection agencies keep calling, the hidden box with her overdue bills begins to bulge, and all she can do to handle it all is go designer binge shopping. Deep down she knows she has a serious p...more

I love this book.

"Unsticky" by Sarra Manning is a sophisticated, more adult version of "Pretty Woman". Manning really does this book justice by writing the sexual tension in such a way that the book itself doesn't become too smutty nor does it become too bland either and the sex and sexual tension doesn't deter or distract from the storyline because, yes, there is an actual story to be told here. And it's a great story. It makes one really question under "realistic circumstances" if a relationsh...more

I hadn't even noticed this book on the shelf when I went hunting for my latest read to get me through a bout of flu, when my partner picked it up and suggested it seemed like something I'd enjoy. I was sceptical when I read the cover, put off by the premise of the story in the 21st century, but this is definitely one of those times you should NOT judge a book by it's cover!

I have since read many of the reviews on the book and feel really protective of it and the characters. I agree in some cases...more
