Part biography and part literary criticism, this book explores Primo Levi's life and work in a clear and intelligent manner. It spends much of the time finding and discussing patterns in Levi's worldview as seen through his books.

I thought the author did a great job with analyzing the underlying themes of Levi's work in a way that encourages deep thought and understanding into the mind and heart of the book's subject without simplifying or alienating.
