Good for beginners - very basic bare bones for novices.

This book was better than the last history book I read for this class. It shows both sides of the event, not just one. In each chapter it goes through the same time period from different perspectives, giving you a fuller look at the time period. I'm going to keep this book for future reference.

The main textbook for my U.S. History class. An excellent overview of American History, from the earliest Native settlers to the end of the Civil War. The great illustrations help, too.
