Perhaps I am getting a bit cynical....I usually love Karen Kingsbury's books. However, I have noticed an annoying trend in the majority of them:
Boy and girl meet in elementary/middle/high school and fall MADLY in love
Boy and girl are separated by some terrible twist of fate
Boy and girl lose each other and their faith
FASTFORWARD 5-10 years
Boy and girl are living separate lives FAR from their hometown...but oddly within blocks of each ...more

I read this book first in the series. I wish I kept an eye more about when books belong in series. I always mistakenly read the last one first! I really need to work on that...
I thought that Kingsbury did an excellent storytelling of the terrible tragedy of 9/11 which occurred over eight years ago. This is still a touchy subject for those who have lived through it and heartwrenching to hear the details over and over.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 9/11 series by Karen Kingsbury. The first two books One Tuesday Morning and Beyond Tuesday Morning -- were fabulous. Of all the Kingsbury books I have read, these were the best in terms of story line, quality and well-developed characters. While Every Now and Then was quite good, it was not as strong as the first two in this series. I am a Christian. I believe what John 3:16 says. I go to church every Sunday. I am raising my daughter in this faith. That being said I can't stand most Christian Fiction. With the exception of Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti, it all seems very fake. It's like a fairy tale, it always seems to have a happy ending. I am here to tell you folks, there have been periods in my life where there was no happy ending. So I do not want to read sappy love songs disguised as christian fiction.

This was my first book by Karen Kingsbury and I really wanted to like it...but I found myself disappointed in it. I felt that too much time and detail was spend on useless things, such as her in depth details of the freeways/streets. Do I really need to know that Alex turned right off the Ventura freeway onto a Jones Street and then left over a hill, to lead to the second house on the left?! Also, I found it frustrating that it took 3/4 of the way through the book for Alex and Holly to finall...more
I really liked this authors way of writing. She has alot of series books that i read awhile ago. This one is about the emotions that a boy is dealing with even 7 years after loosing his firefighter father in the 911 attacks. Alex turns way from love to put his whole life into fighting the bad guys and walks away from holly the love of his life. His dedication to getting the bad guys off the street might just cost him his life if he doesn't start thinking like the k9 cop he is and not the hurt 18...more
I have read pretty much all of this authors books. She is a fantastic Christian author. This book in particular touched my heart - she quotes the bible verse, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads only to death." (Proverbs 14:12) The theme of this book is about how God never intended for man to eliminate the evil around us but rather through Christ's strength, to take a hard look at the evil within us.
I really liked this book the message was heart-felt and honest as Karens books usually are. I liked that this book dealt with the thought that you can't take on the things that happen in the world onto yourself. Anytime the events of Sept. 11th are dealth with it almost always brings about a heavy heart but I love that Karen continues to show that good things can come from any event even as one as horrible as the terrorists attacks.
I think Karen Kingsbury is a wonderful author, and I've read all 3 of her 9/11 series books. The endings are always a surprise, and this was no exception, but I did feel like asking her to offer a different ending as well because I did not particularly like it. I prefer hardcover books, but for some reason, the only way to get this in hardcover is to purchase it in large-print.
Not my favorite Karen Kingsbury novel, I didn't find Alex's story as powerful as the first two 9/11 novels. The other hit home and where very powerful. Alex was a character I just couldn't find myself liking. I'm not exactly sure why I couldn't like him, but I just felt no sympathy for him. Oh well, I am looking forward to reading Karen Kingsbury's other series, especially the famed Baxter family novels.
Another great book by Karen, I don't think I have ever read one of hers that was bad. This is about a man whose father was killed in the 9-11 attack on the twin towers. He can't get over the loss of his father- to the point he turns away from God and his family and girlfriend. Things start happening to him to make him do some soulsearching.

This is a Christian author that I have read quite a lot. I like reading one of her books every few months. She writes a good story, it is always uplifting and well-written. This is the third book in a series she wrote after 9/ll. The first one was called "One tuesday Morning", (I think). Anyway, I liked it.
I enjoyed this novel very much, even though it was somewhat predictable. Karen Kingsbury is a wonderful writer who keeps you entranced by the characters and the plot until the end. I love the spiritual aspect. The characters encourage one another in brotherly, Godly love. I admit I shed a tear or two.
Such a pretty boy, such a nice dog. I picked this up from the library when my blood sugar was low and I wanted to grab something quick to take on an unplanned lunch out. I'll probably finish it. I read the first one in the series. Some of the characters return as secondary characters.
This was ok. I'm going to try one of her other books, preferably not book three of a series (oops) before I decide to give up on this author entirely. She's not bad...it was an ok read. just not stellar--too much repetition of character's feelings.
Once again KK did not disappoint me! I liked the approach she took to living with 9/11 years later and where people are in their lives now. I enjoyed catching up with some of the characters and meeting Alex.
Excellent series of books. Loved all of the characters, their ups and downs and how God used every situation to strengthen their faith. Karen Kingsbury touches you deep down with her writing. Get your tissues!!
Every Now & Then is a very appropriate title for this story; the plot illustrates that with the Lord's help someone can progress from being so consumed and obsessed with a tragic event in their lives that it hurts them as a person and destroys relationships to healing and arriving at a place where the event is still important, but they can enjoy relationships with other people again and think of the past periodically. I have been wanting to read this book for a while and didn't have the time. Kingbury did a great job showing how bitterness and anger can consume us. It also had quite a bit of suspense. I really enjoyed it.

The 9/11 series was not my favorite of the Karen Kingsbury books, but as always I enjoy her sweet writing style, her well-developed characters, and a story of how faith and love triumph over tragedy.
I truly enjoyed this Christian fiction book. It was a quick, easy read with deep, sincere meaning. This was my first book by the author and I look forward to reading others by her.
Another good one from this author....fairly predictable but still a good story! Brings in a new character but revisits the folks from the first two in the series. Worth reading!
This series was sooo good! I love how all the characters pray constantly through the day, hear scripture come to mind when they pray and are not afraid to share the love God has given them. What an inspiration!

I listened to this on CD while sewing, otherwise I don't think I would have finished it...too predictable. First time I have read anything by this author.
Good book about the tragedy of life following 9/11. I loved the relationship between the lead character and his K-9 dog. Heartfelt and a wonderful book.
