We're the D'Artigo Sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we're savvy--and sexy--operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Camille is a wicked-good witch whose magic is as unpredictable as the weather. My sister Delilah transforms into a tabby cat at the worst possible times. And...more

Fangs for the Fantasy
Menolly steps back up as protagonist in this book as the sisters come across an old potential crime while burrowing through the storerooms of the Wayfarer. Tracking down a missing elf from years ago isn’t easy, but is complicated by a missing vampire, a posse of undead, a friendly neighbourhood necromancer and his wandering ghouls, a demonic frat house who get exactly what they deserve and a whole new force of demons who fight on the astral plane

It’s a lot to juggle and, of course, behind it all...more

Sixth in the Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon paranormal romance series revolving around the three D'Artigo sisters currently living Earthside in Seattle. The perspective is from Mennolly this time around with Roz and Vanzir pushing their own agendas with her.

My Take
It's hard to say whether this series is urban fantasy or paranormal romance. The focus changes with each story. One book might be primarily from Mennolly's perspective while the next might be from Camille's or Delilah's.

It certainly...more

I love this series! Each new book expands the storyline, the characters and the worlds a little bit more.

The battle the sisters and their lovers/friends are fighting against Shadow Wing takes a backseat in this installment, as the matter of the disappearances and murders of Fae women are investigated by the D'Artigo sisters.

There are also unattended Ghouls running amok and causing trouble in Seattle, meaning a Necromancer is in residence somewhere.

As always Yasmine Galanorn does a fantastic job...more

These Yasmin Galenorn stories are a Guilty pleasure of mine. The church book group is not where I am going to recommend this one, LOL! But awkward subject matter and non-church-approved lifestyle choices aside, I really like these "urban fantasies" by Yasmine Galenorn. Why? For me it's all about the characters and what the take home message of a book is. All the other stuff is well, just stuff to me. These stories are about overcoming hardships, realizing one's worth and value is about how one l...more

I suggest you read the previous five books in order before taking this book on (Witchling, Changeling, Darkling, Dragon Wytch and Night Huntress). Menolly is my favorite out of the sisters. She is tough, cynical and the least bratty. If you are a fan of the Otherworld series you won't be disappointed with this book. Menolly and the gang investigate the kidnapping of an elf women and a vampiress. Simultaneously, Chase has his hands full with unsupervised ghouls. A fraternity house full of amateur...more

Ok so the sisters are delving deeper into the chaos that has unleashed with all the new portals, and do they fight some dosesys in this one. So yea Menolly & Nerissa decide to be exculsive to each other..YAY! But only in gender so they ca hae boys on the side since both of thier schedules are crazy and they aren't getting enough time together. So menolly & Roz DO get in on in this book, and of course hes awesome. But not only does she want Roz but also shes getting a thing for Vanzir! Ohh...more

This series is one of my favourites. You know the ones that feel like you're catching up with old friends every time you open the latest book in the series? The type that although you're absolutely itching to read, you try to put it off as long as you can because you don't want it to be over? Yeah, this series is like that for me. :)

I also love that the books are told in the POV of each sister. This one's the sixth book and happens to be narrated by Menolly. She's a vampire, and a very complex c...more

Every so often I forget why I stopped reading a series, and grab a book in a series without thinking.
That was the case with this book. I forced myself to finish reading the book, but it was a painful experience. Maybe that pain would remind me the next time I see the authors name.
One word sums up this book in a nutshell "Crass".
Imagine what you would want to be if you could be your own favorite paranormal character, Would you be a dethroned princess? Would you be unbelievably beautiful? Would...more

Demon Mistress, Book 6, is another excellent volume in the Sisters of the Moon series by Yasmine Galenorn. Told from the point-of-view of Menolly, youngest of the the D'Artigo sisters and a vampire. Menolly is still recovering from her torture, rape, and death at the hands of the Dredge, leader of the Elwing Blood Clan. She braided her hair after she returned home from experience at Dredge's hands and finally at the end of this volume decides, that maybe, it is time to unbraid her hair. This is...more

Ok, I am still totally enjoying these books, but I'm going to vent about some of it anyway. First the way the characters prioritize is mind boggling. Spoiler warning! For example, they've got a number of individuals having their life energy fed on by an unspecified demon and they decide to delegate helping the people in mortal danger to others while they go interview Harish about Sabele. Now obviously the missing elf becomes a major part of the bad guy plot later on, but at this point in the sto...more

So I just finished the 6th book in the series about the D'Artigo sister and I was impressed as usual. Although I prefer the books that are from Camille's point of view, this installment from Menolly's POV was pretty good.

I liked the idea that instead of one supernatural big bad they were surprised and had to deal with human's who were truly evil instead. Showing that the threats were not just from Shadow Wing and his minions. Menolly and Roz were great, I was rooting for a hook-up. I've enjoyed...more

One of my ongoing themes for my reviews is that I've been mostly undecided as to what I ultimately think about the series. While I still have my doubts, I can say that for the most part I rather like this series overall and Demon Mistress highlights a lot of what I like and dislike about the novels as a whole.

What I do like is the continued openness and frankness that Galenorn applies to her characters' love lives. She's not afraid to have a bisexual character and she's not afraid to have Menol...more

Demon Mistress / 978-1-101-05529-8

The sixth book in the Sisters of the Moon series, "Demon Mistress" continues the familiar point-of-view switch by settling back into the braids of the youngest D'Artigo sister, Menolly. I felt that Menolly's last book, "Darkling", was the best of the first three novels in the series, and I have nothing but good things to say about "Demon Mistress", particularly after the very slightly stale "middle-series" feel the earlier two books seemed to carry.

Menolly has a...more

The D’Artigo Sisters are half-human and half-fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. They kill the ghouls and trolls that would otherwise kill the human population. Menolly, the middle sister who got turned and is now a vampire, starts cleaning the room upstairs from her bar with the intent to rent them out and increase the family income. During the cleaning, she finds a diary and a locket belonging to a prior owner of the bar who disappeared. Menoklly becomes convinced that Sabel...more

I really like this series, it is set in such a fun world that I always look forward to the next one. This one is Menolly's. I would have to say out of the 3 sisters she is my least favorite, but after reading this book she has grown on me. We learn more about her and the dynamic of her being a vampire in her family. Menolly really steps up to the plate to help fight the big bad evil this time around, even when some things hit really close to home for her. Watching her grow and start to come out...more

I really love these books. Switching narrators in each book keeps it fresh and allows you an insight into each sister that you couldn't get otherwise and keeps me waiting for each installment. Though I do wonder at why is it that whichever sister is narrating is suddenly the one in charge! This book followed Menolly, the Fae turned vampire. I really like this character, not as steamy as Camille but not as crybaby as Delilah can be (very much looking forward to her growing into her powers!). All...more

This book is part of a series. If you start here, you will be confused. Go check out Witchling if you're interested in exploring the world of the D'Artigo sisters.

Liked:
* I went back over my ratings for some of the previous books in the series and it seems like Menolly's voice appeals to me the most. She's got a lot to deal with in her life, and she deals with it well. She acknowledges her problems/trauma but doesn't slip into brooding.
* The relationship between the sisters remains awesome and...more

This book exceed my ability to suspend belief. I believe that in every generation there is a Chosen One, I believe that One rings rules them all, I believe in hyperspace and wormholes, I believe there is a no spin zone on Fox News, but I find that I do not believe in a half Fae-half human, loving caring compassionate bisexual vampire who has successfully completed therapy and is fighting the current "big bad" with her were-dragon brother-in law and her were kitty cat sister. I had four books of th...more

Even as I like Menolly most of the D'Artigo sisters, who is in narrator in book, is this worst book in series, mostly because book has so many idiotic plot twists and some times I got feeling that writer keep chansing inner logic of her world which is always confusing and bad form of writing. And it get bit tiresome how often sisters could make some serious mistakes, but keep their lives only by pure luck, some times it could be intresting to read if some of their plans would work and our magic...more

I didn't pay attention. For some reason I just can't connect with Menolly. Perhaps she is just too emo for me. I do like that she kicks ass and takes names so that is a plus. She talks like a sailor and doesn't put up with bullshit, even though she is tiny. I guess I agree with several other reviews in which they stated that the delivery is odd and the character development is lacking. I get why they are they way they are I just don't care. It never seems to get more in depth is just regurgitate...more

What I liked: Vanzir gets interesting, Roz gets very interesting in a naked way and Menolly seems to be healing from all of her emotional baggage. Yeah for all of that!

What bugged me: (1) How did Menolly get in the fray house? The whole "vamp can't enter unless invited" construct has been well set up, yet she traipses around with nary a pause through a demon and a frat house. What gives? A Frat House is NOT the same as a motel-it is not a public building. (2) Camille's inconsistency is annoying...more

This is the 7th book in the Otherworld series and even though I cannot add Galenorn to my list of favorite authors yet, up until now all her books have been/are great ‘in-between’ reads (good to read while waiting for other books to be released). They keep my interest, have good characters, hot encounters, and decent action. The writing style is not quite as good as some other paranormal authors but good nonetheless.

The main sister in this book is Menolly, the half human, half Fae who was turned...more

Don't ask me why I keep reading these. They are kind of a filler when I am out of 1st reads and can't find any thing else to get. But that is one stupid reason to spend money on something! Ah, well.

I really like the premise of the stories. I don't care for the delivery that well. I guess I would have to say that I do want to see what happens...if only I didn't have to read the "Whaaa????" (all those annoying pieces and inconsistencies that just boggles the mind) to get to the 'what happens'.

This was the sixth book in the series, you are seeing Menolly's perspective in this book. This book had some strange twist, first off Iris and Menolly discover a diary of the old bartender from the Wayfarer and this starts an investigation into a missing elf. Then there is a ghoul in the woods, and a necromancer nearby causing all sorts of problems. Poor Delilah's getting leeched off, and that leaves just Menolly and Camille to try track down the source before it takes her soul permanently. All...more

the Sisters of the Moon characters are interesting enough to keep my attention, although I felt this book in the series was one of the weaker ones. Galenorn left enough up in the air that one wants to see how they'll resolve things, but at the same time, I also wonder how she's going to do that if she continues in the vein she started. This last book especially read almost like a "chapter" in a larger novel. If the installments continue thusly, we'll be many, many books before the heroines win t...more

This book was Okay, however, I must admit that I am still far from hooked on this series. I have managed to get through all the books in the series that I have bought, and I probably will just stop there. I noticed at the end of this book that there is another one either out already or coming soon called 'Bone Magic.' I don't think that I'll be reading that one, but if this was a series that you liked, then you should be on the lookout for it as well.

INFO: True to form, this book rotates back to...more

This is the first book of this series that I have read, even though it is #6. (It is the first one that my public library has.) It was not too hard to jump into the world and characters. Also, although I usually don't read romance, I found it more like an urban fantasy. (The sex scenes are explicit like in a typical romance, but they don't dominate the plot.)

“We come together, we create our families, we chose our mates out of the desire to form a life together. Love takes many forms, wears many faces, but when it's real, when it touches your heart, you will know it and--with hope--embrace it. Love is stronger than hate, love is stronger than anger.
