I had very mixed feelings about this book. It's a story of multiple National Guard Members who were called up to serve in Afghanistan...what happened to them there and how it changed their lives. I believe it is made up but seemed quite realistic. The individual stories are both heart-wrenching and inspiring. I didn't understand the actions of some and yet, in real life, when do we understand everyone's decisions...perhaps we don't even always understand our own. There were moments it felt a bit ...more
