Would someone please option this series for the movies! Seriously! I can not read these books without picturing the whole movie in my head. Love this series!
This is the perfect example of a series where you CAN NOT read them out of order - absolutely not! But book #4 "Timescape" is fantastic and it is the first book that uses settings suggested by readers. So we get to follow David through a portal onto the Titanic... as it is sinking! I really want to kill this author so very badly. No I am just kidding. I want to have the fifth book of this series to already to come out so I can read it. Mr. Liparulo has really sank and reeled me in with the King family and I never want this series to stop. I remember when I first read the first book House of Dark Shadows. I hated it but as I continued to read the series I love the way the author built the characters descriptions.

The King family discover one portal that leads to the future, and it isn’t pretty. Their only hope is to stop whatever it is that Taksidian is planning to do to create such a horrifying future. But how can they go up against someone they know so little about? They decide to switch things up, spy on Taksidian for a while. Do they really know what they’re getting themselves in to?

David, Xander, Dad, and Keal have discovered a terrible secret. Now, finding Mom is only a small part of their mission. And time is running out. Using the portals to build an empire, Taksidian wants the house for himself, and there's nothing he won't do to get the family out. The consequences of his meddling reach far beyond the family--to the future of the world itself. The Kings know their survival depends on stopping the bloodthirsty assassin. If only they can find his weakness in time.

I really liked the mystery involved in this story it definitely keeps you guessing from one minute to the next what adventure the boys will encounter. The whole series is based around this crazy house that has managed to steal their mother away and now they are determined to find her and bring her back. The story is continued from one book to the next with five books in all. This was book #4. I'm pulling for the family I hope in the end they are all reunited and get the heck out of that house! Meh. I picked this one up off the shelf at the library not realizing that it was the fourth in the series. I quickly figured it out, and read it anyway because I was bored.
The novel was really just a chapter in the overall story, and that always bothers me. I mean, in the entire book not one single essential event happened that made it its own story. Not one.

This is the fourth book in the series and I have been consistently enthralled in each of them. Can't remember the last time I can honestly say that I was "on edge" reading....these books just do that to you. I started this book yesterday morning and have finished it already. It is good enough that you don't want to put it down. The worst (or best) part of the book is the ending....you are on the edge of your seat and it just stops in the middle of the best part, which makes you wan...more
This guy is an original, with a limitless imagination and masterful writing, Mr Robert Liparulo knows his horror stories, and is good at telling it. Kudos to you!
Whew! After reading the previous book (Gatekeepers), I immediately opened and started reading this and it's really classic...the Titanic?! This might sound corny but mentally I heard the first few notes of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". I felt the biting cold of the arctic ocean and I have to admit I found cons...more

This series of books is really exciting! Timescape is book 4 in the series. I highly recommend its reading.
The general premise of the entire story is this: The King family, a father, mother and three children, moves into a house in Northern California and they discover the house has a secret. There is a myterious third floor with a central hallway and doors lining the hallway on both sides. These doors are portals to other time periods in our world, all to the past save one. Th...more

Timescape is the fourth book in the Dreamhouse Kings series. In previous books they have found the real reason they moved into the house, lost their mother into one of the portals, come face to face with Taksidian and man from another time. By the time we get to the fourth book the family has taken things in a different direction. They are still searching for their mother. However, knowing that Taksidian has tried everything to get them out of the house they are taking no chances. They keep hear...more
The Kings have a new tact for finding their mother. They have decided to turn the tables on Taksidian and get some dirt on him before he does anything else against their family. They will have to use all their smarts to outwit Taksidian's diabolical mind.
I like this book because the action never stops. The characters have distinct personalities. Each scene is displayed vividly by the exact amount of detail needed.
I recommend this book to fans of dark secrets and intense stories.

I feel like the series is getting back in stride after the last two. Despite a pretty uneventful middle, the opening and closing of this one were insanely exciting. An adventure on the Titanic, revelation of a destroyed Los Angeles filled with mutant creatures and a battle against Norse Vikings are but a few of the new adventures facing the Kings.

Not really that impressed by this series. I still haven’t learned anything about the house or why the Kings are so involved. I'm on the fourth book for Christ sakes and I still am clueless to what is going on! I feel like they have gotten nowhere in this book. The end was pretty gruesome and kind of exciting, but mostly I was skipping boring scenes and trying to stay awake long enough to finish the book. The only reason I'm still reading this series is...more

Good...but not as good as the previous ones in the series.....I didn't like the way this one ended...way to suspensful (and in danger) with the next one not due out until January....I'm not sure what I got out of this one...a little more "fluff" than his last ones...but of course I'll read the next one...and the one after that if it comes to that!!!
Just when I think this series can't get much better - it does! The boys dilemma becomes even more dire when their newly found Nana might be taken from them. And then their great-great- etc. Uncle Jesse is seriously hurt! The action just keeps on coming! I am so looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
Does not stand on its own. Should have read the ones before it. Ends in complete cliff hanger with David and Xander both in bad places.
Hoping to finally locate their mother, David, Xander, and Toria King venture into the near future and discover a world in which Taksidian has taken over and populated a destroyed city with strange mutants. Before long, the Kings realize they are out to save not just their mother, but humanity itself.

This is the 4th book in the Dreamhouse Kings series.
This series just keeps getting better and better! I couldn't put this book down. The story is getting more complex and intertwined, and it is full of suspense and drama. I cannot wait to read the last book and see how things are resolved!

Once again, this book starts and stops ring in the middle of the action. Never a chance to take a breath! I read this one in a single sitting. An easy read, obviously, but very entertaining. I willingly kept flipping the pages as quickly as I could and will buy the next book immediately!
HA ha ha ha, as a mother of four, I am COMPLETELY intrigued by these books. I have a hard time wanting to put them down. They are quick reads. They have humor, mystery and creepiness all rolled into one! So good! Definitely a must read!
The King family continues to go through portals and visit times in the past - in this book one portal led them to the sinking of the Titantic - feel like the author could have done so much more with this adventure!!
Another fantastic segment of this very appealing and addictive tale. If you like a bit of non-vampire fantasy, mystery, and history in your reading, I highly recommend Liparulo.
I do really love this series, but I'm thinking there could be half the books. This 4th book really didn't progress the story much, although I did enjoy the room they went into and who they met there. And there are still way too many movie references. Other than those 2 complaints, it's a fun series, and it's imaginative.
I am really enjoying this series. It can be predictable at times, but then it will take a new twist and totally surprise me. It's a super fast read, mainly because it keeps you interested the whole time. Sometimes one of the characters gets on my nerves, but not enough to stop reading.
Very good I can't wait for the next one! I enjoyed it it was exciting I couldn't put it down I actually speed-read this one! I wanted to know what happened so bad!
This guy is a great-great horror/terror/spine-chilling, chair gripping soul-stirring, story teller! Ya gotta read his stuff! :)
This whole series is amazing! Theres action and adventure around every corner. Every one of Robert Liparulo's books in the Dreamhouse Kings series is amazing. He knows how to capture attention and keep you reading past your bedtime. There is never a moment in any of this series that is boring. I encourage anyone who like adventure and historical books to read this.
