As someone whose Grandfather was in the Dutch resistance as a messenger, I naturally found the topic of the book to be interesting. My Grandfather also happened to have cousins who volunteered for the Dutch Waffen SS. Like my own family, during the German occupation Holland was split into many groups, from Pro-Nazi Dutch to eccentric resistance artists. This is a wonderfully chatty book on a heavy and difficult subject. The author has an appealing writing style and provides a good sense of the range of activities in the Dutch Resistance. Although some of his facts are a little off according to other sources, his personal experience and wealth of information make up for it.
