I loved this book..I really enjoy the way Carol Snow writes. Her language is fluid and her characters are realistic. I identify with her characters quickly and I feel as if I know them well. Her books may not get the acclaim of other authors, I know many people dont take "chick lit" seriously, but her books always leave me thinking about what I would have done in the same situation. This book, in particular, is about a girl that is enamored by a man and decides to take a leap of faith and do som...more
I left my designated beach book in the car while on vacation, so I was forced to read this from a "share shelf" at the inn I was staying in. I couldn't put it down so I "borrowed" it, with the full intention to pass it along to a friend once I finish and keep it circulating! I am LOVING this (probably more so because I've been to Maui twice and was familiar with the sites mentioned)!!! Pick it up and read it, you'll be happy you did. It's a wonderful summer fast-read.

Jane Shea likes lists. She likes plans, and organization, and orderliness. So when her boyfriend invites her to vacation in Maui with him, Jane is cautiously optimistic. She wants to have a good time but is afraid something is going to go wrong - a freak snowstorm will come to L.A. and ground the plane, or the airline will lose their luggage, or worse, Jimmy will never show up to pick her up.

Jane O’Shea is thrilled to be going on vacation to Maui with her boyfriend Jimmy. Jimmy’s always been a little unreliable and maybe a little flaky, but Jane knows a week’s vacation in Maui is just what Jimmy needs to realize they can have a future together. Neat-freak Jane and laid-back Jimmy and a week in paradise; what could go wrong?

CHA-ICK LIT! But...stayed up til 2:30 am finishing this book, so I am giving it a positive review. Two thumbs up for being a fun read, interesting plot, and enjoyable characters. The book is nothing more than a quirky love story with a dash of mystery and some sweet scenes of Maui. Carol Snow nails Maui perfectly. I especially loved one part where Jane, the heroine, and her love interest snorkel out around a rocky point in the Ocean & she encounters her first sea turtle. Snow captured my exa...more
Carol Snow's "Here Today, Gone to Maui" is a fun, witty, colorful read--but wait--there is more to this story--a mystery! What a surprise I didn't see coming. I was a bit stunned for a second and then I simply couldn't put the book down. Very clever Carol Snow! I hope she continues to write mixing beautiful locations, spirited heroines and mysterious plot lines.
Anal-retentive control freak goes to Maui with boyfriend. Boyfriend is actually a criminal borrowing someone else's identity. She discovers when the romantic trip completely unravels. Meets boyfriend's "other" girlfriend, meets man whose identity boyfriend was borrowing. Easy reading, but somewhat of a downer for chicklit. Typical happyish ending.
I suppose it wasn't the worst book ever... The overall plot is the only thing that kept me going in this novel. Jane and her boyfriend, Jimmie, take a vacation to Maui that goes bad the second he goes to pick up the rental car. Jimmie just rubbed me wrong from page 1. (although probably intentional, the author doesn't portray Jimmie as ideal) Further I had a hard time appreciating Jane's perspective because, after all, she chose to love Jimmie. The best page in the whole book is the last one, bu...more

A fun beach book! Perfect for the holiday weekend .
With a title like this, how could you not take this book on vacation! Jane's boyfriend, Jimmie, who has a dive suit business, travels to Hawaii often for business and on this trip, has invited Jane along. Her disappointment in not staying at a fancy hotel is warranted, but the plain condo on the beach is an ok substitution. Jimmie seems to be full of plans that don't materialize for Jane, but she gamely motors on. Things get interesting when Jimmie disappears while diving, adding many twists to...more
This book is a perfect for light, vacation reading! I enjoyed it a lot. There wasn't a whole lot of depth, but it seems that wasn't the intended genre for this book. I liked the twists and turns in the story. Some were predictable. Others were interesting surprises.
If you're looking for a light read with a little bit of mystery, I'd highly recommend this book.
