He called it love...

Emma Blair could not suspect the truth behind the English soldier who introduced himself as Robert Melton, Napoleon's enemy, Wellington's man. She couldn't know his secret mission, or the role she would unwittingly play. She knew only that he was irresistible—and dangerous— an officer who, like her own late husband, would put the call of the drum above

Lucie Sorel's been murdered and we don’t know the reason, the motive, or the killer. Robert Lescaut, a French intelligence officer and her husband, absent from Paris so often and for such long periods of time during the Peninsular War and the ensuing war between the British and French, doesn’t know who or why, either. How could the roots of the murder go all the way back more than 20 years? And moreover, how could causes go back to the 400-year-old feud between two Scottish families living near ...more

Shores of Desire drew me in to the story from the first page and kept my attention until the last. Emma Blair lives in Scotland with her daughter and extended family when Robert Lescaut and his son come upon her and assist her in rescuing a neighbor. Robert is pretending to be Robert Melton, an acquaintance of Emma's deceased husband. Robert believes the Blairs to be responsible for the death of his wife Lucy four years before. What follows is a engaging story filled with twists and turns before ...more

I have been a fan of Tracy/Teresa Grant since reading "The Daughter of the Game" which is now known as "Secrets of a Lady". This is one of her earlier works but still has romance, war, intrigue, rich historical background and a difficult to put down story. GoodReads calls it #3 of a quartet, but the author's own chronology on her website calls it #2. Whichever order, its a good story, however her 2nd series is still one of my favorites. I would re-read this one, but have re-read "Secrets" and ...more

Another historical romance by Tracy Grant purchased for $2.99, this is the story of Emma and Robert. Again, couldn't put it down! The mystery in this doesn't get resolved until nearly the end of the book, but I didn't feel strung along at all. I loved the romantic resloution as much as the historical details.

I love that the main characters were a widow and a widower and that it's full of intrigue and mystery.
