Where Hearts Prosper was the first give-away book I've won from Goodreads. After reading the synopsis and a couple of reviews at Goodreads and Amazon I must admit to being somewhat skeptical. It was clear this was not the type of book I normally would chose to read. I was under the impression it would be both sappy and preachy and feared this book was destined for the communal bin at the office.

Suzanne is the aunt of my BFF from high school. Though I met her YEARS ago when I was in high school, we became better acquainted over lunch. I was enamored that I sat next to someone who would have her fist book published soon. I monopolized her and her time as I peppered her with questions about her book and the process of becoming published. And I promised I would read her book.

I honestly didn't expect much from this book. I know Suzanne only a little, and knowing it was her first published book I thought it would be kind of "cheesy" and slight. There are a couple of other LDS authors who get published a lot that I think are really shallow.

This book just couldn't hold my attention. I feel like it was trying to be deeper and more meaningful than it really is. It is a LDS romance novel! I want lighthearted, easy, quick-paced and fun! Not four or five pages of a character sitting in a hotel room, thinking! That technique is only to be employed by authors who can pull it off! Also, the main character of this book has one of the most obnoxious habits, the "I have a secret and I'm going to make life super complicated by not telling...more
Maybe a 3+. A single mother decides to move back to the very small town where she grew up because she has the chance to telecomute for work and she is concerned about her teenage daughter. The story covers about a week when the daughter is in the town of Prosper and the Mom has flown to Chicago for work. The river overflows and the town is flooded. Good book.
