Το δεύτερο βιβλίο που διαβάζω από Α. Ε. Βαν Βογκτ, μπορώ να πω ότι και αυτό με άφησε αρκετά ευχαριστημένο, χωρίς να ήταν κάτι το ιδιαίτερο ή το συγκλονιστικό. Βασίζεται σε κάποια διηγήματα του E. Mayne Hull, τα οποία ο Βογκτ τα "ένωσε" ώστε να αποτελέσουν ένα μυθιστόρημα. Φυσικά είναι ευδιάκριτο ότι το βιβλίο χωρίζεται σε πέντε ιστορίες, αλλά και σαν μυθιστόρημα μια χαρά μπορεί να θεωρηθεί.
