I allways liked fantasy books..when I was child and now still...
I've pick it up in our library for my son...becouse he likes mistery and adventure books for bedtime stories....and he was so happy...he hardly wait, that I read him next chapter....and when I finish the first book I have to get next one....and so on....
I also like it...it's easy to understand...not too complicated and not too much information...and Tom, main caracter, has a girl for a friend, and not a boy, like usually...more

I would personally give this series, in general, a generous 2 stars. Nick would give it five stars, so I split the difference. The problem, of course, is that these books are written for children, not grownups, but Nick's reading level isn't up to chapter books yet. So I have a lot of time to notice the impossible geography, Snidely Whiplash-type villain, repetitious plotlines, and implausibly intelligent animal sidekicks. Nick, on the other hand, notices the cool monsters, the frequent fight sc...more
This book was amazing! It was fillled with action. This book was a just right book for me beacuse I loved the book and I understood it perfectely. I think you should read this book beacuse it is filled with action.
Here is a small summary of the start of the book:
Tom woke to the sound of birds chirping. His uncle came rushing hes room saying "the river has run out of water!" They went to go see when the saw a farm tha looked damaged. they went to go check it out. When ...more

Definitely the shortest and worst fantasy book I have EVER seen!!!
As my 7 year old was ill today and didn't go to school, I finally relented and finished reading our first "Beast Quest" adventure to him. To be perfectly honest, I don't find it well-written, exciting or even particularly engaging (given that I'd already forgotten what had previously happened, i.e. what we'd read only last night), but my son's big eyes grew bigger with every chapter, and he is now desperate for Father Christmas to bring him the rest of the series.... therefore, I will...more
this was a pretty good book it was allright thought because of some stuff that the main character does that could be way more simple, but he ends up saying "finally my unnessicarrally long and confuzing rout/path is 1/4th complete soon i will be there!" and thats the type of thing i hate in these books i mean it could be way more simple they could just go there defeat the dragon kill the wizard while he is trying to make a proposition to you and just save it for the next few books i me...more
I read through this quickly because I'd like to do a Beast Quest program at the library and haven't read any of the books. Considering the age level this series is for, it's not too bad. It's not the best fantasy book you're ever going to read, but I know kids here go nuts for them and that's all that matters to me. I may skim through a few more in the series just to see how it goes. They are only about 75 pages long and take about 30 minutes to read.

I read this with Garrett. It's the first in a series about beasts (dragons, sea serpents, etc) who have been made to wreak havok on the kingdom by an evil magician, and a boy who is trying to release them from their servitude by unlocking a band from their necks with a special magical key. It's a fun, adventurous, heroic story set in medieval times. Great for elementary school readers.
I read this to my son and he seemed to enjoy it and is eager to read the next one. I'm not sure you can get higher praise from a six year old then wanting to contiue the series. I personally thought it a little slow going, but I think the next one's should be better. We know the players of the story now. I am intrested in finishing the rest of the series.
For anyone who loves fantasy, and the idea of heading off on a quest with a sword...this book is for you. I enjoyed it. Adam Blade puts together ta great story. Tom finds his destiny in setting out on a quest to stop evil. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series...I love how each book is about a different beast.
I grabbed this one because a young patron wanted #3 in the series--this is #1. It has all the elements of good fairy tale--orphan of mysterious parentage, adventure, magic, unlikely friends, the whole shebang. Fun to read and short(78 pages), this would be a good choice for a reluctant reader.
This is the perfect book for a little boy. It's about the level of a Magic Treehouse if you're familiar with that series. This had wizards, knights, swords, shields and a dragon to defeat. Cougar loved it! Anything that makes my little guy beg to read get 5 stars in my book.
Page-turning medievalish fantasy for the early chapter book reader. A little thin on character development, but that's hard to do in 78 pages of dragon-slaying. Would totally recommend to the 7 year old boys (and a few girls) who turn everything into a sword.
I just found this on my book shelf and I have yet added it on Goodreads. So of course I'm going to mark it as read in 2011.
It's alright. Nothing really special at all. But it's for kids (I can't actually remerber why I have this, anyways).

The Beast Quest Series is interesting, but it is repetitive and after a few books you sort of know what's going to happen next. I find the book very simple and a easy reader for kids. I think it is very descriptive but I will only give it a 3.
Just read this with Dallin (just turned 7). The words are still a bit hard for him but he sat patiently while I read and begged for "just one more chapter before lights out". I enjoyed it as well.

it was a good book cause it always sucked me in when i continued to read it and it makes you forget about anything that you would rather usually do.
At only eighty pages, this is fantasy for beginners. I found it really pretty bland, and my son did not like it much either.
i like it because its short and easy to understand.im looking forward to reading the rest. (i think there is over 40 books!)
I thought that this book was really short but i still liked all the adventure in it.The thing that really bugged me was that there was a whole lot of inferencing you have to do to really understand but it is still exciting.I really want to read the second book and i can't wait until i do.
Checking this out for my Grandson. This is the first in a series of fantasy adventures of a 12 year old Tom who has to release the dragon from the spell of the evil Malvel.
Ages 8 - 12

I did not like it because there was Ferno on each chapter. But I was also worried because I thought of my friend, Tom.
I can't honestly say there is a ton of substance to these books, but my six year old sure does love them!
First read of the box set of six. Aidan read it in one sitting and is on to number two. Loved it!
I've just read this with Maxim. Quests, knights and dragons, perfect for a 7 year old :-)
Ryan's review: It was amazing and I loved it!
Mom's review: I'd give it 3-4 stars.
Mom's review: I'd give it 3-4 stars.
I've read 1-7 (book for kids) and there are entertaining for a second-fourth grader!
I find the Beast Quest books dull and predictable, but all of my kids like them.

Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father’s paintings of historic English battles – which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father’s office. Adam’s father said they were a Blade family heirloom....more
