I should tell you, up front, that I did not finish this book. So, take that into consideration if you plan to keep reading.

Girard had a few good things going on in this book. I like the idea of the Black Stockings Society, and it could have been a very interesting plot point. Who doesn't get all excited at the thought of a secret society? And I absolutely love a plot line with exes. Yep, I sure do. I think I like this one least of all. Dominic was as sexy as the other men from the Black Stocking Society, but Brenda was too rigid and clinical. I could feel Dominic feelings for her, but I couldn't feel her feelings for Dominic. Even after her makeover, she didn't seem sexy like the other women in the series. Her character lacked femininity. This was an okay read. I especially liked the underlying theme of being lost in someone else's shadow. The main character Brenda has divorced her husband because she lives in the shadow of his accomplishments. Although she loves with him, she is not happy for him. In the end she realizes that she is not in a competition with him but the reason why he can do what he does. I felt that the concept of the Black Stockings Society was an interesting one, but corny in its presentation.

The book was a decent read, I think I liked the other two a lot better than this one. I have read worse books and I finished it which means a lot coming from me. It was a quick read of about two hours for me
