It did not present much I did not already know, but there were some tidbits. For instance, one reason so many rural and poor folks took up the guitar was due to how easy they were to obtain through mail-order. And from page 69 '...because the strings easily bent to accomodate the sometimes flatted tonality commonly found in black folk music.' While the book did not touch as much on race and identity as I was hoping, it did introduce me to some new artists and reintroduced me to some I had ...more
