Lily Morrisette wants roots, respect, and independence. So what is she doing on a road trip with a handsome marine who′s carrying her into the heart of serious peril? It started out as a lark fuelled by her strong chemical reaction to sexy Zach Taylor - a tough, yet tender-in-spite-of-himself military man who′s determined to break up the engagement of his ′baby sister′ Gly

What can one say about a creative settlement of gender war,
where the GI Joe hero and the Meals-on-Heels heroine *she's a chef who likes to be taken seriously as a _Bimbo*
are forced together (happens! when you climb into a car with someone whom you profess to hate)
in an artificially dangerous situation (that involves a mailbox and a house full of characters nuttier than fruitcakes...Getting Lucky is when you get to read an unwanted secondary romance between two of those said f...more

2nd book in Susan Andersen's "Marine" Recon Master Sergeant Zack Taylor is on leave, he comes home to find Lily Morrisette staying with his younger sister Glynnis. He believes her to be a gold digger, after his sister inheritence. These two butt heads from the start. He learns that his sister has got engaged and he is worried, cause he is afraid that this guy David is like all the rest. Their main interest in Gynnis is her money.
He decides to go to David's home, to confront this g...more

Another contemporary romance with a hint of mystery. I always wonder about the 'we are going to fight like cats and dogs until we fall in love' storyline. Sometimes you never buy the antagonism. Sometimes you never buy the love. This is closer to the latter than the former. with the actions and statements of Zacharia Taylor (our hero) I don't know how Lily would ever get past them to forgive him. He's still an ass at the end of the book. But I did like the kidnapping story and it was good...more

Solid ... 2.5*! Yah, I'm afraid this one was no "keeper"; straight to the PBS shelf where I got it from!

This was my first Susan Andersen, and although I did finish it ... it was a chore, not the goal for my romance reading choices (nor the type of book I like to spend a bunch of my time reviewing/berating even).

WHAT WAS WRONG: The hero jumped right out of the box as soon as he was on the scene making ridiculously unfounded accusations to the heroine, whom ...more

Zach Taylor (alpha male) comes home from a marine stint to find his sister gone and she has rented out his room. He has always worried about his sister being conned and being takin advantage of because she is wealthy. So he jumps to the wrong conclusions about Lily Morrisette. Lily is a corporate Chef who just happens to be between jobs at the moment. Zach is accusing her running a scam on his sister Lily, when she shows him the lease it doesn't really calm him down much because Lily isn't aroun...more

Story of a marine and an executive chef trying not to be attracted to one another as they travel together to find Zack’s baby sister who’s run off to meet her fiancés family and is kidnapped. Characters are well developed and likable. Plot is simple but it works. Good beach read. Fun, fast fluff.

I liked it and would recommend it to anyone. The banter btw the H/h is good! It was a nice change of pace to read a book where the heroine knows how to cook something besides an egg. :)

This was the second book in the series, and if you thought the banter was great between Coop and Ronnie, then you are going to love the banter between Zack and Lily. This was a fun fast read, that grabbed you from the front line till the last. I am happy to report that neither the Hero nor the Heroine got on my nerves, and I never found a moment where it was hard to get through, like the first one, or even the third one since I have read it as well. Maybe it was because there wasn't a kid involv...more

Zach Taylor is convienced that his sisters roommate Lily Morrisette, trying to bilk as much money from his trusting sister Glynnis out of her money. When Lily tells him that Glynnis is on her way to meet her fiance's family, he hits the roof. And follows after Glynnis.

Why I picked this up: Road trip romances are almost as fun as arrianged marriages... and a little more likely.

Why I finished it: Sometimes the story is entertaining enough that you can stop worrying about ...more

I love it when a cranky alpha male is undone by the softer side (not the weaker side) and finds his equal, if not his better.

Just enough intrigue and wit to make it a book to re-read, not read and pass along.

Very good. Sexy Soldier trying to rescue his sister while trying to fight his feelings for her friend who is helping him out. It includes characters from "Head Over Heels". Can't wait to read it again.

Fun read. I really like Susan Andersen's strong female characters. They aren't afraid to stand on their own two feet!

Good quick read. Thought the "baddie" could do with a bit more fleshing out, but loved Zach and Lily.

I grew up in a household with two brothers, a daddy, and my grandfather. Too many men, in other words. They diluted M'ma's influence by diverting my attention to things like the danger of answering nature's call in the dead of the night. I've got a hint for those of you raised in a less spit-and-scratch world: check before you sit, because chances are that seat is gonna be up. And they don't even ...more
