The Christopher Killer is about 17 year old Cameryn Mahoney, who has the annoying habit of challenging her elders. She also has the unshakable desire to be a forensic pathologist and a very strong stomach. This comes in handy during the autopsy of a friend, the latest victim of a serial killer whose signature is a St.Christopher's medal left with each body. The vivid autopsy scenes are surprising given the fairly routine story line and agreeable though certainly not complex, characters. It's Cammie...more

I would describe the Forensic Mystery series as Nancy Drew meets CSI. Cameryn Mahoney, the protagonist, is the daughter of the Colorado County coroner, and she is obsessed with forensics.
Convincing her father to hire her as his assistant, Cammie joins her father to investigate the first murder in her town in several years. When the killer gets too close, Cammie fights to solve the crime before she becomes one of his victims.
The descriptions of the crime scene, the victim, and the details of an...more

Are you a fan of CSI or Bones? If so, this series is for you. Alane Ferguson has written a good forensic mystery. Cameryn Mahoney is a seventeen-year-old with dreams to become a forensic pathologist. She is in a great position to do so with her father being the county coroner. The budget problems have prevented the county from hiring an assistant for him and the work load has been too much. So, he asks Cameryn to be his assistant and she accepts, even though her Mammaw (Irish way of referring to...more

17-year-old Cameryn Mahoney's dad is the town's forensic pathologist, and Cameryn wants nothing more than to follow in his footsteps. When she convinces him to make her his assistant, she has no idea that one of the first deaths she'll investigate is that of her friend Rachel. This is a extremely mature young adult novel. Cameryn Mahoney is our protaganist, a senior in high school, almost 18. She's always wanted to be a forensic pathologist. Her father is the local coroner in Silverton, CO. When he complains that he can't get the budget for an assistant, he takes Cameryn's suggestion & hires her (out of his pocket). Naturally, this is a boon for her when one of Cameryn's friends becomes the fourth victim of the Christopher Killer, who has been killing young women...more

I don’t know much about forensics, or serial killers but author Alane Ferguson wrote The Christopher Killer in such a realistic way, it made me want to learn more. But I didn’t need to do research to know about serial killers, forensics and what an autopsy is like. Alane Ferguson described everything accurately with vivid detail.

Alane Fergusen is a great writer. This book, The Christopher Killer, is one out of many books she has written. I love the way she describes all of those things that happen to Cameron, the main character. It feels almost as if you can feel what she is going through. I really liked this book because the author kept you on the edge and that made you want to keep reading The Christopher Killer. I would gladly read the other books because every time Mrs. Ridder said “I am going to stop for today,” the whole class would moan,” NO”. Now I don’t know much about forensics and autopsy but Alane Ferguson made it feel like I did. And I did learn some things about it anyway. There are...more

Bang! I thought. Wow! I liked how the author used so much description when the christopher killer got down on his knees and looked under the bed. Cameryn is a 17-year old girl looking to become a pathologist. I think Cameryn is a very clever girl and strong. I would give this 8 out of ten stars. I thought it was very good and can't wait to read the second one. I like how Alane Ferguson gets you to like the characters so much that you get to feel the pain and joy that they have. This book was one that I could hardly put down. It is a book where a girl named Rachel gets killed and her friend Cameryn tries to find out who did it. When she does find out who did it, she has the surprise of her life.Cameryn and Rachel were best friends and both worked at the Grand hotel until Rachel's murder rips Cameryn's world apart. When Dr. Jewel comes to town (literally) he tricks everyone into thinking that he's real.Only Cameryn suspects that he's a fake. When you read this book, you...more
I've read about lots of murder scenes, but no one has ever given me as good of a picture as Alane Ferguson. In the Christopher she does an amazing job of describing everything while still keeping the story suspenseful.
In my point of view this book is very well written because it had a lot of action. Just enough to make me want to keep reading, but not so much that it was hard to follow.

Really not impressed. Only for a few reasons.
1. ...I read books about dragons, magic, the surreal reality; but, I refuse to read a book about a 17 year old who is a publicly unlicensed forensic pathologist. I'm sorry, you don't let a 17 perform an autopsy on on a murder victim. Even if she catches the murder (in 3 days?!) They'd throw out the case because she touched the evidence. I'm sorry. Did the state hire her? What is her degree?
It's not petty. The author is asking me to believe something...more

WOW. How to start on this book? I actually tried to read this book in high school, but some of my classmates had a car accident and unfortunately died, and I did not feel like reading a book about dead people so I stopped. But I did started it, I thought I would be able to deal with it, but I was SO wrong. It was too hard. So I decided to try it out again, ironically a few weeks ago, another classmate of the class before mine suffered an accident and died too. Anyways, when I read this book, I d...more
In the small town of Silverton, Colorado, lives a teenage girl names Cameryn Mahoney. She's kind of an odd duck, living with her coroner father and her Irish Catholic Meemaw (Grandma). Cameryn is fascinated with forensic science, and somehow convinces her father that she would be perfect as his assistant. When Cameryn visits her first crime scene with her father, she becomes ill. Since that went so well, her father takes her to observe an autopsy for a murder victim recently found in the woods....more
The Christopher Killer is a very interesting book to read. Especially since it takes place her ein Colorado. Its in Silverton, Colorado and theres hasnt been a murder there in years. Cameryn is a teenage daughter of Pat, the county coroner. He thinks its not a bad idea for his daughter to be his assistant since many murders dont even happen there. But both are surprisingly shocked when there first case has to do with the murder of someone Cameryn knows. Theres been a series of Murders here by a...more
Cameryn's father is the area's county coroner, and our story opens with Cameryn asking if she can be her father's assistant. She's been studying forensic science for a while and would love to 'get her feet wet', as it were. Hesitantly, her father agrees, as he is shorthanded and has a small budget. Cameryn proves herself on the first case, but things start to get personal on the second--someone she knows has been found strangled and left in the woods. The added twist to the story is someone call...more

This book was full of surprises. It was definitely a page turner! Mix in some death, a long-lost mother making her re-appearance, a crazed physic, a dead twin, and some soon-to-be romance, and you have the perfect book for all ages!

This book sucked me in from the very first chapter. I had no idea it would be so interesting. Cameryn Mahoney is 17 years old and she is an assistant to her father, the Silverton, Colorado County Coroner. She is hellbent on becoming a forensic pathologist and she thinks this will be a great start. But as soon as she begins, things get crazy. There is a serial murderer out there and he has come to Silverton. So she sees some pretty horrific things and has to deal with the finding of a body of som...more

I am so proud of myself for reading outside of my normal genre. The Christopher Killer is a realistic forensic murder mystery… A far cry from my normal fantasy books. Even though this is not my usual type of read, I enjoyed it.
