“We are back from three months on the highways of Canada, driving 24,863 kilometres, which is 15,539 miles to you old-timers.” Clearly, after this beginning, The Canada Trip is not going to be a conventional travel guide. Nor is it a journalistic dissection of the mood of the land, because “the country has been analysed to death.” Instead, Charles Gordon keeps what he call ...more

Charles Gordon and his wife Nancy took a trip across Canada from Ottawa and back again and this book was the result. It was interesting and at times humourous. Overall an enjoyable read. Published in 1997, things may have changed a bit by the time I read it, but it still made for some good armchair traveling.

The author and his wife took a car trip across Canada. They drove from Ottawa east to St. John's, all the way west to Victoria and then back again. It took them three months.

If you have ever wanted to take a cross-Canada trip, reading this book is the next best thing. Maps included.

I just couldn't relate to the author. Not the same type of travelling I prefer.
