I have just finished the Belisarius series and was greatly impressed.
A mixture of science fiction and alternate history with a heavy dose of fantastic narrative.
Top rating in my book.
Over the series I grew to thoroughly enjoy the characters - their triumphs and failures; their successes and short comings.
