I read Necklace of Shame and Never Too Old together. I recommend you do as well.

Ms. Lynne always gives us characters we can easily care for. In the first novella, we have Brody's story. He's hidden his love for Bel for years, since the night she was brutally attacked. When her attacker is released from prison, Bel is attacked again, and this time Brody declares his feelings. This one was a fast read. The relationship between the three worked really well. I was a little worried after reading Branded by Gold. This book is about 1yr newer (publication wise, at least) than that one and her writing has only gotten better. In Branded, Cree and Jake are already lovers and you feel the passion and love between them, Jenny is added later on and you don't really see that they need her like they need each other.

I'd pretty much decided that I wasn't going to read any more Carol Lynne books because her stories are just too light and unsubstantial for me. But I'v been on a bi-menage and ebook kick and this one fit the bill so I figured I'd give it a try. I ended up mostly enjoying the book. I thought it was much better than the other books of her that I've read.

I thought it was much better than the other books of her that I've read.

Summary:
When Annabel Jenkins was just 16 years old she was beaten, raped and then had her throat slashed by her own father. She survived thanks to the help of police office Brody Dunberg. Since that night, both have been fighting feelings for the other. But for Brody, Annabel was just too young and he denied her advances toward him.

Now, years later, Annabel's father is out of jail and Brody wants to protect her. He's also realized it's time to stop fighting his feelings for her. But what will that mean for Brody's lover, Callum McCloud? Callum is willing to share Brody and also realizes he could come to care about Bel as well. He's already physically attracted to her. The two worry Bel won't be able to handle it, but she's more open than they expected. Things go well in their new relationship, but Annabel's father is determined to get even with her for sending him to jail.

Review:
One of my biggest problems with the Lynne books that I've read is that they've been so light, skimming the surface on everything and never digging down deeper to give the story some substance. Some people like that, but I'm just not a fan of light stories (for the most part). So after a few, I decided that was enough for me of Lynne's book. And it's been a while since I read one.

I thought this book had a lot more depth than the previous Lynne books I've read. There was emotional turmoil, character development, a little bit of a suspense plot...it made the story so much more readable for me. It was an interesting story, too. I kept wanting to go back and read more to see how it would all work out.

I liked the relationship that builds between Bel, Brody and Callum. It's maybe a bit simplified, but hey, there's some hot sex! But beware, there is M/M sex in the story.

The story wasn't perfect, by any means. It's still got some of Lynne's quirks...like how bizarely open main characters are about their sex acts. There's little to no sense of discretion and it's just really weird. There also could be a little more development in some areas, and some things were oversimplified.

But on the whole, I liked this book. It was sexy, interesting, had good characters. It's by far the best book by Carol Lynne that I've read. Just don't be put off the the kinda weird title. It's actually fits the story.

The cover is the worse -- but as they say you can't judge a book by its cover... Right?

Very cute story but not super hot... Pretty tame in fact. However, it is truly a wonderful story with good strong chars.. But a bit unreal. 10 years... Really? I might have given this 5stars if it was longer with a bit more of an erotic tone that isn't quite there. I know it was a shorter story but there were parts that just went a bit too fast and could have used a bit more words...
