I'm a sucker for old radio shows / good radio drama, and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is one of my favourite books, so it's no surprise that I really, really liked this.
If you're wondering, there are differences between the radio series and the books, and though I prefer the book version of the story, (if you're a H2G2 fan) this dramatization is definitely worth investing your time (about 14 hours).

(This is the original radio series that lead to the books - amongst other things).
Hysterical! A very fun, very silly listen. The acting and sound effects, so effective. Such clever humour. I also admire how the writer creates a strong sense of place even though all the places we are taken are of course no where at all (or are they?). Still just as entertaining as my early listens years ago, but sadly only 4 stars from me as I find the writing weakens as it enters into the later "phases", and I...more

While not technically a book, it was in the list, and I've read the books that the radio shows are based on. Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Phases are my favourites with Quandary and Quintessential next favourite... I think by the time the series got to these last 2, it was beginning to get a bit old. It became hard to follow in a couple spots, but otherwise was fun.

Douglas Noël Adams was an English author, comic radio dramatist, and musician. He is best known as the author of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Hitchhiker's began on radio, and developed into a "trilogy" of five books (which sold more than fifteen million copies during his lifetime) as well as a television series, a comic book series, a computer game, and a feature film that was comp...more
