Junie B. Jones is a first grader. She talks about her experiences in the first grade class. It's almost Christmas and everyone is getting ready. They are getting ready for their Christmas program and she loves that thing because she gets to wear an elf costume. She loves all of the great activities that they are going to do at school. There is just one little problem, and that is May. May is always tattling on Junie B. and getting her into trouble. Then, Mr. Scary tells them it is time t More...

This one would land in the two-and-a-half to three-star range for me.
Barbara Park's comic poise is as faultless as ever, and the unique syntax that qualifies the Junie B. Jones series as such a rarely enjoyable literary find are ever present in this book. Barbara Park also manages to fit the spaces with some real depth of feeling, and takes us through all of this in a narrative that includes some unexpected happenings for all of Junie B.'s fans, regardless of age.

Junie B. Jones: adorable, hilarious, and just what any kindergarten girl needs to hear as she says and does everything a girl might WANT to, but doesn't.

Now in frist grade, the inimitable Junie B. has to sit next to Tattletale May. Since Junie B. is always doing something tattle-able, this gives the girls a lot of reasons to dislike each other.

When it's time for Secret Santa, Junie B. thinks she knows just what to do. But in the end, it's Junie B. who learns that people s More...

This was my first exposure to Junie B. Jones...oh, my! My 7-year-old granddaughter, Heather, was intrigued with my new Kindle, so I asked her if she would like me to buy a book on it for her to read. We did some browsing and she chose this book. She read it to me and most of my enjoyment of the book was in listening to Heather's dramatic and enthusiastic reading style. She loved the book, but I would strongly caution parents [and grandparents]. Our heroine, Junie, is more than a scamp. Par More...

I love Junie B.! Here's just a little taste:

"'My father says that friends should never borrow money from each other.' [says May]

"I clapped my hands real thrilled. 'Then it's perfect!' I said 'Cause I you and I aren't friends! I don't even like you, May! Plus listen to this! I'm not even borrowing the money! You're just giving it to me! And I'm not paying you back!'

"May made a mad face at me. Then she quick put her wallet away again.

Read this with my youngest daughter...or more like she read and laughed the story to me. Great books to read with young kids. My daughter loves the characters and the silly things the other kids say/do in the books. Not to mention I love the ending of the story in regards to the gift to May. I think my daughter is about ready to reread all Barbara Park books to me again. Great line of books for kids that are ready to spread their reading and get into 'chapter' books.

I love Junie B. Jones. Absolutely, positively! These books are funny, realistic, and heartwarming. This book, in particular, has a great message without being hokey, preachy, or false. My only concern is that this series may be a little difficult for children to read because of the colloquial language in the first grade classroom. The solution is to read these books aloud to your children (they're really geared to adults, so it should be a pleasure).

My daughter enjoyed this book at first - I think she related to the characters and situations and understood how it felt to want to say and do some of the things Junie B did. But she was very upset when Junie B plotted her revenge against May - she didn't want to finish the book because she knew how bad she was behaving. It tied together in the end but I had to talk about the lesson learned with my daughter and the 2nd half was definately a struggle.

My daughter brought this one home for Spring Break, I was between books and wanted to see what she has been reading about.....

Christmas parties are one of the most anticipated events of First Grade, and when Room One got the chance to see the toys and stuff available at the gift shop, Junie B. wanted the Burb-a-Bag more than anything else in the world. She knew five dollars was a lot and she would have to do some figuring to be able to come up with the money for it. Then the problem More...

I LOVE Junie B! What a sweet kid. The adults in the book drive me nuts...there is absolutely no positive interaction between the parents and Junie and the teacher and Junie. It's like all they're interested in is making her follow the rules and punishing her when she doesn't. But I like that Junie's spirit remains strong in spite of that!

I'm not a fan of Junie B. and only read them because my daughters enjoy them. That being said, this title with a message of seasonal goodwill, was more enjoyable than others that we hve read. While strife between her and classmate May is at times over the top, seeing Junie B. do the right thing at the end is a nice way to sum it up.

I checked this out on CD from the library. The girls and I listened to it together. It's classic Junie B. Jones only better. It's hilariously funny and it has a wonderful message as well. After we listened to it we talked about the golden rule. I highly recommend this book to all Junie B. Jones fans!

I read this with my son. He loves the story line. I like that the format of the books are easy for him to read, but the grammar is horrible; it even bothers him. He says, "That should say . . ." I just don't want him to think that is the correct way to say things. Cute story though.

I give it three stars, but my kids would rate it much higher. This was Noah's first (and only, so far) chapter book, but Ethan has read every last one of them. To adults, Junie's incorrect usage of the language can be annoying. But this is a good series for emerging readers.

This is the FUNNIEST of them all. OMG. That girl May that picks on her and her teacher Mr. Scarey. You gotta read this one, if not to a kid, just to the kid inside you. It also has a really nice message.

I love Junie B. Jones! Such a crack up for all ages. I read it with my 7 year old and laughed just as hard as she did. Barbara Park is such a clever writer who truly understands the first grade mind.

Junie B Jone books really make the kids laugh, so for that I love them for my six year old but what I do not like is the awful grammar. This one has a very cute ending, teaching the kids a good moral lesson.

I loved it. I don't know if I should admit this, but it's my first Junie B. Jones book. Funny and sweet. I ended up reading it to the family on Christmas Eve and we all enjoyed it.

Irrepressible first grader Junie B. Jones is back and trying to decide what gift to give to her classroom nemesis May, whose name she has drawn in the class’ “Secret Santa.” With only $5 to spend on her entire family plus tattletale May, and an irresistible “Squeeze-a-Burp” at the school Christmas store, Junie B. entertains thoughts of putting a lump of coal in May’s gift sack. What child with money to spend for the holidays has not felt exactly the way Junie B. does? Kids will wait in line for More...
