Leave it to Ben to take a contrarian view! Of course the 'yes' part of this answer involves very long time lines, 15 years to be meaningful. Wish I had read this 15 years ago, and had the wisdom at the time to believe it...

This is a more common sense approach to investing. Basically, buying and selling according to value -- like you would do with anything else in life. If you decide to follow the advice in this book, just remember that you are in for the long haul. I read investing books and either get bored by the filler material or outdated claims. This book, although 10 years old, shows all the data behind the claims and remains believable. The authors are careful to point out that they do not have a stock-picking method, only a long-term market-timing method. It is a fast read, too.

Good data backed tips on when to join the stock market.

The trouble, as admitted in the book, is in the present when a good time to join? No pat answer can be given, but it book provides a good methods to evaluate how the current market is priced.
