Wed Him Before You Bed Him is the sixth and final book in "The School for Heiresses" series and I have greatly been looking forward to it - and finally discovering Cousin Michael's identity!! - even though I haven't read all the other books in the series. I was not disappointed and found it absolutely delightful; I would recommend it to people even if they haven't read all - or any - of the other Heiress books (though reading them certainly makes this book more enjoyable since you have the myste...more
Here it is, the final School for Heiresses book, where we at last learn the identity of Cousin Michael. I was... mixed on it. On the one hand, it's a moderately enjoyable read on its own (although Charlotte's stubborn independence gets a little wearing at points-- you'd think she'd have a jot more business sense, after 14 years at this job-- and David is a little too overbearing at times-- you think the bloody fool would KNOW BETTER after 14 years). On the other... this is the last book of what'...more
Kisah penutup yg sangat bagus untuk the School For Heiresses series.

masih ingat khan the famous cousin michael?? orang yg membantu charlotte harris selama ini tp kita tidak pernah tau spt apa orangnya.

I can see how others might feel differently, but I was taken aback and disappointed when the book that finally reveals the mystery of "Cousin Michael"... did so on page 13. I think it's because none of the men listed as possibilities had ever stood out for me in the other books in the series and I would have liked a chance to really get to know them so I could wonder and guess. I just read the previous book in the series before this one and none of the possibilities was given anything like an ac...more
We finally get the story of Cousin Michael and Headmistress Charlotte in "Wed Him Before You Bed Him", Sabrina Jeffries latest in her 'School for Heiresses' series. Michael's identity is a surprise as is the 'incident' that began the whole charade.
Charlotte's school is in danger. Her neighbor is planning to sell his estate to a horse-racing developer and Cousin Michael isn't answering her letters! Then from nowhere Lord Kirkwood appears bearing a legacy from his recently deceased wife to the tu...more

When a romance novel is one of a series, you look for the threads of the core romance, the one that ties it all together, and then you hope that this one is the absolute strongest of them all and you anticipate it greatly. This is the core romance of the School for Heiresses series.
I have a love/hate thing with Sabrina Jeffries as an author. She often writes plots and situations that are the very ones I enjoy, so I keep being drawn to them, and yet she tends to have a dynamic in the relationship...more

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I have only read one other book by Sabrina Jeffries and I assumed all her books were going to be like that one, not that it was bad, just lacking something!
In this book you can see where misunderstandings and lack of truthful communication can really end up hurting you and so many other people around you.
This story took me on a ride with my emotions. In the beginning I felt so sorry for Charlotte and David. They were being forced to marry, it was a match...more

The time has finally come to find out who Cousin Michael is... and I'd be lying if I didn't admit I went into the book hoping for it to be someone in particular. And therefore it's only fair to admit that my rating reflects disappointment that my hopes were dashed more than disappointment in the actual book. The book's well done. I appreciate that Jeffries reveals who Cousin Michael is right away instead of drawing out the suspense. It gave me time to adjust to it not being who I wanted and stil...more
Mrs. Charlotte Harris, widow and owner of the girls' school featured in the "School for Heiresses" series, is disappointed to lose contact with her dear pen pal and benefactor, Cousin Michael. He was offended by her persistence on learning his identity and stopped answering her letters. Also troubling, is the reappearance of David Masters, Viscount of Kirkwood, into her life. David should want nothing to do with her after the scandal she caused for his family years ago when they were teenagers....more

Sabrina Jeffries always manages to kick ass.
There is something indescribable about this author's ability to create one fascinating backdrop to all of her stories. This is most especially true for Sabrina's School for Heiresses series. While having skipped around quite a bit in the series order, I still was able to find Wed Him Before You Bed Him to be, in a word, perfect.

This is the first time I've read the series straight through, all in about 2 weeks, and I have to say, there are little things that stand out to me, now that I know what to look for!! The clues are there, but they are very very slight, in fact, if you don't pay attention to every little encounter with 'Cousin' Michael and his family, Charlotte Harris, you'll probably miss it! From the very first book when Charlotte has to talk to Lady Kirkwood about her relation Lucas Winter, Lady Kirkwood is ve...more

I really enjoyed this book! Now the letters between "Cousin Michael" and Charlotte finally make sense. Sometimes the going back into the past for the backstory can be clunky, but this was really well done. In relatively few pages I could get a good sense of where and why Kirkwood and Harris went wrong, and why it was so difficult to get their relationship back on track. A neat close to the series. I like the introduction of one of my favorite secondary characters, Pinter, as well.
I really enjoyed the final book in the School for Heiresses series. The flashback chapters were a fun way to get to know the younger characters. It also helped to show how much they have matures over the years because of what they have gone through.
I could have done without the whole murder subplot. It took away from the growing relationship between Charlotte and "Cousin Michael". I would have liked more time devoted to Charlotte's reaction to the identity of "Cousin Michael".

I loved it. Too bad I had not read the one before. The reviews were not so good and as most of Sabrina Jeffries' can stand alone, I figured I could skip the second to last in the series. Now I wish I had read it. Although, I don't think I could have enjoyed "Wed him before you bed him" anymore than I did. I neatly tight the series together from the first book to the last, and with Louisa, the Duchess of Foxmore, being present, it even tight it to the "Prince" series.
OK, so I didn't enjoy this book as much as I usually enjoy Sabrina's books. The heroine and hero had a past and some years later they reunite. The heroine was too cynical and too scared of men. She was basically on the verge of becoming a dried up husk until the hero walks back into her life. The end of the book has a bit of suspense but it's kind of thrown in.

I just didn't get into the story. I skipped around, saw that what I thought would happen did happen, and that was that. It was romantic that the man she shamed before came back around in penpal-form to help her find herself...but I just didn't like reading it. I think it held too much suspense for me. I don't really like reading suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat books. I'm more about reading emotionally-charged books.

I always feel a loss for characters who were in love and over mutual mistakes and circumstance end up missing out on years together. I've been looking forward to this story since the start. It is heartbreaking the way everything ended up stacked against these two after their worlwind romance while they were young. Even while they were angry with each other I can just imagine the pain to watch the other move on with their life without you. Then the pain of finding out how the circumstances led to...more
Typical historical romance, good characters. Titled man, David, meets up with headmistress of a girl's school, Charlotte. Turns out they have a history from when they were young and their parents tried to push them together. That didn't go so well, and they've both lived a lot since then. Of course there are some secrets that end up coming up at an inopportune time.
Wow, what an ending to the Heiress Series. I never would have figured out who cousin Michael was. Evidently Charlotte had no idea either. After so many years apart, so many mistakes and hurts between them, I am so glad Charlotte and her man finally got together. I also liked how the epilogue wrapped up and caught up on the other Heiress series heroines and heroes.
I thought I wasn't going to finish this, but after the "flashback" chapters things got really interesting. "Cousin Michael" was one of my many guesses & I sure as heck wasn't disappointed when he was finally revealed. Charlotte & him had great rapport and given the history they had...it was just a fun read. Now makes me wonder what will happen to the other supporting characters Miss Jeffries mentioned. Will they be featured in other books? I wonder...
I do believe that this has been my favorite of the School for Heiresses yet. I really enjoyed the two main characters and their story. I was slightly underwhelmed by the ending and the resolution that all the men came too it felt a little lacking. Other than that though this was a wonderful contribution to the series.
I probably should've tried harder to read this series in order, but the first book left me so curious about Mrs. Harris... (view spoiler)
El benefactor cierra la serie Escuela de señoritas y mantiene la tónica general de la serie. Es un libro sencillo, ameno, con pocos sobresaltos y bastante romanticismo, en el que aparecen varios de los personajes de la serie y siempre ocurre algo.

If having a colorful life turns you into a novelist, then I had no choice but to become a writer. My whole life changed when my parents moved us to Thailand when I was seven. Before I was eighteen, I'd eaten chicken heads and jellyfish, been chased by a baby elephant, seen countless cobras and pythons, had the entire series of rabies shots (yes, the ones in the stomach with those lo-o-o-ng needles...more

“Advising Mrs. Harris was the least I could do," David said smoothly. "After all, she was the one who brought me and my late wife together."
That was stretching it a bit, since all Charlotte had done was give Sarah lessons in how to avoid fortune hunters, thus ensuring that the recalcitrant girl went right out and married the first one who approached her.”
