This book is amazing. Dr. Rutland really sheds light on the character, or lack thereof, of the world today. I try to read this book once a year, just to keep myself humble before the Lord. It's always a good idea to examine yourself and make every attempt to build and maintain good, Godly character.
Absolutely enjoyed this book. Inspirational. Makes you think deeply and critically about life, yours and others, and our American culture. He makes great points with real world and sometimes historical examples. I made many highlights, which I've reviewed a couple times already, and can see myself reading the entire book again. I would have titled the book, "Character Matters: Nine Essential Traits to Becoming a Better You," as the word "Succeed" may be misinterpreted by some.
A respectable analysis of several aspects of character, including loyalty, bravery, honesty, meekness and gratitude. The analysis of honesty was superior to some models, though still erratic in its consistency, and, ultimately, incorrect. On the positive side, the best chapter by far was the one on Diligence.
