A Hidden Beauty is a classic style tale that appears to be set sometime during the nineteenth century, but specific details of the towns of Boston and Wroxham are lacking. The overall flow of the story is rather slow, reminding me of the pacing of such classics as Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility, both which are stories I love. Jamie Craig’s story is well written and the characters likable, but I can honestly say I enjoyed Jefferson much more than Micah. I don’t know if it's because ...more

I also read Hidden Beauty by Jamie Craig. This is a story of Micah Yardley who travels to Wroxham to meet his idol, poet Jefferson Dering. Micah is the third son of a very wealthy family, and as such, doesn't have the same preasure on him to join the family business immediately. He's a student at Harvard, and after hearing Jefferson speak, is compelled to travel to meet and speak with Jefferson. Odd shift in the plot, but a slow, enjoyable romance

Rating: 7/10

- The romance develops in a deliciously gradual way. Several factors contribute to this: familial/societal constraints, one character’s naïveté, the other character’s reluctance to spoil his lover’s innocence, etc. When added together, these factors make for a tentative, slow-paced unfolding of love and desire.
- The sex scenes aren’t anything out of the ord
