Demons Not Included (Night Tracker #1)
Meet Nyx. This half-human, half–Drow private eye investigates paranormal crimes by day and is an elite Tracker of demons by night. She prefers working solo—and playing rough. So when a terrifying force starts murdering innocent humans and paranorms, and leaving strange demonic symbols burned into their buildings, it’s a case Nyx takes very personally…
Meanwhile, Nyx’s fe
Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil… prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon. – Terry Pratchett

This origin story had many wonderful things to recommend it and deserves a higher rating than I am giving it. This fast paced new series introduces us to a variety of paranormals with unusual gifts living alongside humans, working together. More clearly stated, the secondary characters were easily accessible to me as a reader definitely established their own places in this series, while keeping in mind that is for Nyx to say how important they will be. The ...more
Nyx is a one-of-a-kind gal--half-human, half-Drow. By day she's a blonde human--at night she's an amethyst (NOT PU ...more
Didn't happen. The characters and the world in which they exist lacked any real depth. Even the protagonist was a bit of a Mary Sue. I couldn't connect with any of them. I g ...more
Cheyenne McCray has done such a good job with the secondary characters that I like them more than the primary ones. Nadia's past in the Bermuda Triangle sounds exotic and intriguing, and Olivia DeSantos is undoubtedly awesome. Unlike N ...more
This book didn't do anything good for me!
I didn't like any of the characters, the main character was dumb and had no personality. The princess, gucci, D&G and OMG he is so hot kinda girl is in my head from 14-18 years old. This one is 27! twenty F******* seven and she acts like a teenager. (sorry for my swaring)
The story was dull and half the time I couldn't figure out what age it was ment for. The mani part of the book was ...more
Half-human, half-Drow princess Nyx is a Tracker who defends her city against the big and small creatures of the Otherworld in NY. She solves cases and kicks butt with her former NYPD partner Olivia when she isn't shopping or salivating after hottie human liasion cop, Adam.
Something nasty in the form of Demons, has been murdering paranorms and now...Trackers and humans.
Nyx isn't going to take this lying down, even if she has to do all the dirty work all by extra special self.

My primary complaint was the first person narrative. I really don't like them. I always wonder why exactly the person is telling the story in the first place. It's exacerbated in this case because the hero ...more
It was pretty darn good too. Some of the beginning details are fuzzy since I was reading them while at the beginning of my cold which is slowly going away now, but when I picked it back up today! WOW! I was blown away. I was wondering why it took me so long to finish the book, then again being sick chimed ...more
Now the bad.The rest of the secondary characters were under developed . I felt like there were huge chunks of this book left sitting on the cutting room floor. The entire plot was convoluted and forced. It seemed like she ...more
It is the type of story that would normally appeal to me and I wanted to like it but I felt it was a written version of paint by the numbers with no depth or reality to the characters. I am not quite sure how to describe it. It almost felt like the author had a checklist when she was writing (bad ass heroine, hot normal guy, hot paranormal guy, sassy best friend, paranormal crime fighting etc) but didn't actually care about the story or the characters enough to make them fe ...more
Nyx is a PI by day and a Tracker by night... Same thing really. She works 24hrs... I wonder if she ever sleeps. She's a PI that deals with the paranorm cases. At night, she's a tracker that deals with the paranorm crimes. So... It seems like the same type of job right?
Humm what else... The book is your typical UF with your typical triangle. I like CMC's way of writing, hence the 4 stars... Sometimes authors have a golden plot/story/concept but they can't ...more
But the real reason I gave up on this book is the Xphone. Xphone? What is an Xphone you ask? Well it is obviously smart phone (with a stylus). But it was mentioned, like, 40 times in the first few chapters.
"I drew my slim Xphone from my Dolce & Gabbana handbag"
"The Xphone screen felt like cool gel beneath my index finger"
"I shifted so I could set my XPho ...more
