What does Ruby Oliver have that has me going through her books one after another? It's not like she's perfect, she is so far from being perfect.

She's boy crazy.
(Or maybe just plain crazy?)

She's slightly neurotic.
(Make that very neurotic.)

Her friends Suck.
(Let's face it, they do suck. Boo!)

She is completely aware of the fact that she does not know what she wants!
(But with the help of the awesome Dr. Z, some bitchy llamas, More...

"The Treasure Map of Boys" is the third book about Ruby Oliver, a 16-year old girl unsure of what and who she wants in her life. Ruby's life is messy and stressful and she always seems to be trying to figure out how to deal with her overbearing parents, ex-boyfriend, potential boyfriends, her on and off friends, and undeserved reputation of a roly-poly slut.

Once again, E. Lockhart doesn't disappoint. Her knowledge of the inner works of a teenage girl's mind is profound and p More...

Oh this one you guys. Everyone.

How bad does it hurt seeing Ruby have trouble. She is so mad and so trying. She's learned how to stick up for herself but that sometimes makes things worse. The fight at the zoo, and Nora still judging her, and every single time she dissolves into another panic attack, which get so much worse in this book I lost count.

I love the Tate Boys Bake campaign. And the fight with the older girl, and the scene there at the bake sale. With Jacks More...

Dear Miss E. Lockhart,

I cannot ardently enough express my love for this book...best in the series so far. Ruby makes me jittery and uncomfortable, just like I am reliving my teenage years...something I know I should not enjoy so very very much, but I'll be darned if I can put your books down. Seriously.

Love,

Re-read in February 2012.

What can I say? Ruby Oliver has dazzled me yet again. She is the voice of the female species, or at least, the neurotic half of it.
Regardless of how many times I revisit Ruby's story, I never fail to find something new to love about her. She's the kind of girl we've all been and while we, as Ruby, should all strive to be better, who she is is kind of awesome. Over the years, The Ruby Oliver series has become a bit of a guilty pleasure. Something that I More...

Here's what's on the inside cover( from theboyfriendlist.com)

"Ruby is back at Tate Prep, and it’s her thirty-seventh week in the state of Noboyfriend. Her panic attacks are bad, her love life is even worse, and what’s more:
Noel is writing her notes, Jackson is giving her frogs, Gideon is helping her cook, and Finn is making her brownies. Rumors are flying, and Ruby’s already-sucky reputation is heading downhill.
Not only that, she’s also: running a bake sale, learn More...

E. Lockhart's forthcoming The Treasure Map of Boys: Noel, Jackson, Finn, Hutch, Gideon--and me, Ruby Oliver is a strong follow-up to The Boyfriend List and The Boy Book. As with the others, if you can't tolerate a certain level of obsession over boys, boys, boys, and what their actions might possibly mean, this is not the book for you. The secret of Lockhart's success is to make the story more about Ruby's struggle for acceptance at school (and some kind of mental clarity about her relationships More...

David Lee Roth fronts retro-metal band Van Halen. The man has been known to wear studded chaps without pants underneath and to pair that article of clothing with a gold breastplate and an off-the-shoulder shirt. I think that’s all you need to know. - TMoB, p. 152

I flew through books #2 and #3 in E. Lockhart's Ruby Oliver series. I started book #2 last night and read about half. I finished the other half this morning and read all of book #3 this afternoon.

Now I geddit! The snowman is actually the marshmallows Gwen Archer made for the bake sale.

This is the third Ruby Oliver book I'm reading and I gotta say E. Lockhart has a knack for cute titles, cute covers and one hell of a heroine. At first it's easy to get my bearings back and bear with Ruby's neurotic way of thinking after not reading the series for so long.. but then faced with more ramblings and pages of self-doubt and over-analyzing, I begin to get nervous myself. But then, what More...

The Treasure Map of Boys was another amazing book in the Ruby Oliver series. In this one, Jackson started talking to Ruby again, Nora was in like with Noel more than ever and even Meghan was on the road to leaving the state of Noboyfriend (which I found quite hilarious :P). Ruby, though, was having trouble denying the way Noel made her feel (even though we’ve known since forever!), or the weirdness between her and Jackson. She didn’t know what to do about any of it, which I thought was quite r More...

The Treasure Map of Boys continues the saga of Ruby Oliver and her journey in the state of “noboyfriend.” In the previous books The Boyfriend List and The Boy Book, Ruby has just started therapy because of her panic attacks and is learning to live life with just a few friends after losing all of her friends sophomore year.

In The Treasure Map of Boys, Ruby finds herself falling for Noel, but knows she shouldn’t because one of her only friends Nora likes him. She struggles with old feeli More...

I was torn as to whether or not to tag this as "post-modern." On the one hand, footnotes are pretty much the hallmark of post-modernism (is that the correct way to use the word hallmark?). On the other hand, the story is fairly straight-forward teen romance, so... I didn't do it.

Ok so it isn't actually straight-forward teen romance. I checked this book out for a couple of reasons. The main one is that I couldn't find the book I was looking for at the library so I kinda More...

Jasper Fforde's Shades of Grey took me forever to read. I just don't have a lot of discretionary times these days what with B and D sucking away hours on end. And Shades of Grey, though loads of fun, is long and involved and full of invented words like loopholerly. So, I followed up my Fforde's dystopic romp with several short books that I could blow through in a matter of hours.

First in line was the 3rd in E. Lockhart's Ruby Oliver Series. Ruby still has a tough time managing her More...

The Treasure Map of Boys begins with a quick recap of events, not getting in the way of the story, but serving as a nice reminder. Ruby is as quirky a narrator as always, and I loved her typical engaging thoughts. Although not that much happens plotwise, Ruby's snarky narration is just awesome enough to keep my interest. I'm proud of how much Ruby has developed over the series, into the self-assured girl we see in this book, reminding me of Meg Cabot's Mia Thermopolis and her endless quest for s More...

Summary: Ruby Oliver just started her junior year, but she still doesn’t have much to speak of in the way of friends—and definitely no boyfriend. Not only that, but the one boy she wants to move into the BF column? Roo’s former girlfriend who’s slowly warming back up to a friendship with her happens to have a crush on that same boy.

Review: The rest of this series made for quick, fun reads. The two issues I had with More...

In this third book about Ruby Oliver (The Boyfriend List 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver, The Boy Book A Study of Habits and Behaviors, Plus Techniques for Taming Them), Ruby is in a state of boyfriendlessness along with her two remaining friends. She's had a hard year at school, having a list of former boyfriends and love interests fall into the wrong hands in a previous installment.

And she's still going to a therapist for her panic attacks, e More...

In this third Ruby Oliver novel, Ruby continues to obsess about boys and friends – but mostly boys. Readers of the first two books will know that she hasn’t had good luck with either one, managing (through a series of miscommunications, mishaps, and mistiming) to alienate and/or anger many of the students in her small and prestigious Seattle private school.

Although I was an insignificant person in my own large urban high school, my younger daughter’s experiences in her tiny public c More...

After reading the first two books in this series, I became a fan of Ruby Oliver; after reading this third book, I think she’s my new hero. Ruby is a strong, smart, witty girl who has to navigate the minefield of small, private school where her reputation is less than desirable. Oh, and she’s surrounded by cute yet frustratingly vague boys who may or may not want to date her. It can be a difficult thing to create a neurotic character who is quirky and lovable rather than whiny and loathsome, b More...

Ruby Oliver is a junior in high school. apparently the year before she had a pretty traumatic time(described in The Boyfriend List ), she lost her best friends, lost her boyfriend and had to start in therapy. This book is one of the rare works whose flaws are also its strengths. It's light and fluffy, the heroine is boy-crazy, and both the romantic relationships and same-sex friendships are largely shallow and interchangeable. In other words, it's high school!

I didn't read the first two books, but I had no trouble picking up the gist of the story. At the same time, the back story never got in the way or bogged down the narrative. The heroine's voice is breezy, funny, and yeah, slightly ne More...

The Treasure Map of Boys was as hilarious and meticulously plotted as its predecessors, The Boyfriend List and The Boy Book. Once again Ruby Oliver's quirky, hilarious voice shone through to narrate this tale ridden with teenage angst. I don't think anyone captures the high school experience better than E. Lockhart. She is right up there with Meg Cabot and Sarah Dessen.

Ruby Oliver is back and just can't stay out of trouble. After last year's disaster where she is branded the school slut and lost all of her friends, Ruby is trying to live her life without upsetting everyone. But her crush on Noel is complicated by her friend Nora's own crush and suddenly all of Ruby's old boyfriends (or whatever) are popping up. I was a little disappointed. One of the genius things about the early Ruby Oliver books is that they were more about friendship than boys even though on the surface they were about boys. This one is in some ways less subtle, more about what you think it is about when you look at it and read a summary. I still enjoy lockhart, but I guess I expected more.
