A lot of good thought-provoking material here. I really like how they stress that a ministry structure that deals in reality has 1) reasonable qualifications, 2) realistic expectations, and 3) occasional modifications. The other key aspect of the book is their urging the reader to ensure that his or her ministry is asking the three big questions: 1) What do we want people to become? 2) What do we want them to do? 3) Where do we want them to go?
Andrew Barlow
This is a book about getting clear on the importance of community and developing helpful strategies for implementing a vibrant small group ministry in the local church. A lot of people scoff at Stanley as just another seeker-sensitive, CEO pastor. Maybe. But he's worked hard at making Christian community a central priority a very large church. I found the book helpful and hope our own church's small group system benefits from Stanley's wisdom.

I appreciated the big picture perspective for the purpose of small groups. It was great to read through it and glean some very important principles for leading a small group. I came to the end with a much greater understanding of ways to structure small groups that make them conducive to developing relationships. I would have given four stars, but it was a little brief on the parts that I wanted to read more about.
Pete Foley
This is a very good resource. To be honest, I thought that it was more focused on skills for small group leaders (it does turn to that at the end of the book), but it describes in great detail the mission and the "whys behind the mission" at North Point Ministries.
Matthew
I absolutely love this book! I read it almost every year just to remind myself of the priority of community in the local church. I always take away something new with each reading, and I'm always encouraged by its pages.
Thomas Freeman
Interesting book that shows the importance of small group fellowships and how they can be well established. A good "How To" book but not real helpful to me at this time.
Thomas Kinsfather
A good book if your church is large. "this is how we do it at North Point." Practically written, but not very useful for a church of 100 like ours.
Matthew
I was hoping for more how to create community and not how they do it at their. I like how they lay it out. It shows thought and seems like a good process but I was disappointed that it not more of how you do it.
Carlos Antonio
must-read for pastors wanting to make discipleship more than a program in their church
Charles
A great book with introductory small group tactics. I don't necessarily agree with everything concerning small groups in the book, but then again I lean more towards house churches then small groups.
Diana Thorne
Words that stood out to me were 'Intentional relationships'.
Scott
Best book on small groups that I have read. Very practical, shows the value of small groups and how to implement them! It caused me to rethink the way I have always approach small group ministry! So far the princples learned from this book have really strengthened our small group ministry!
Jenni Pertuset
This is most relevant to building a particular form of church culture, but I found it incredibly inspiring for building the sort of community I want in API Seattle, the parenting organization I lead.
Brandon Johnson
While this book provides a clear presentation of the need for small groups, it also painted overly idealistic view of them. Community fails as often as it succeeds but that was not addressed.
Brent
Stanley always writes with irreducible clarity and simplicity. This book is limited in its scope. It provides us with only North Point church's model of small group ministry.
Aj
A quick read and more than just another small groups book. Helps you understand how to have vision, mission, focus.
Brian
The Childcare voucher and twice a year group kickoff is a great idea and have been a big help for our church
Reni Soto
Great book for those looking at ways to create and manage a more impact full small group culture.
Brittany

so far so good.

I really like Andy Stanley's style of communication. The goals in this book are much easier to realize if you are starting from scratch.
