Great pre-teen to teen series. I wouldn't be surprised if the author was Mormon. It's about this kid who's Uncle is a traveler and takes him to another world to save it from the St. Dane who is hell bent on making war on each of the planets. Each book takes place on a different planet. It's very fun and entertaining. All about sticking to your values to achieve good.

Okay, it's official. I am now fully hooked on the Pendragon series.
Bobby Pendragon, fourteen-year-old new and confused Traveler of space and time, is headed to his next territory. This time, it's Cloral, a water territory where dry land is unheard of and the people have discovered all kinds of cool ways to use and overcome their aquatic surroundings.
But Cloral is also at a tipping point, thanks to the evil Traveler Saint Dane, who seems to have a diabolical plan for d...more

This book first put me off when I started reading just by the size of its spine. I was wondering what the author could possibly put in that many pages. I soon found out.
The beginning grabbed me right away, just because the setting took place in Cloral, an aquatic habitat. The descriptions of Cloral made me think of a desert island or paradise (apart from some giant killer sharks). I kept reading and...suddenly got bored. I hit about 20 pages or so of descriptions. There was absolutel...more

Nice try, MacHale.
This series isn't going anywhere. A friend told me that it was better than Harry Potter, which I already thought was a little too good to be true, but now I know is a mockery.
This series is based on an immiture teenager that gets sucked into different worlds, battling a shape-shifting evil-for-the-sake-of-being-evil being. Bobby (the protagonist) doesn't try to help anyone around him, and as a result, the characters that the reader actually respects ...more

Aha. I luff Cloral. I really do. It's the perfect world, sort-of. Kinda. Not really. xD In my opinion, it is. It just sounds so... fun. So high-tech. (but not as much as Veelox. o: ) That, and I love Spader. He's hilarious, so happy, so outgoing. He's an amazing guy. Not to mention, he looks pretty cute in my mind.
This book was amazing. Cloral was well-thought out, what with it's ancient back-history that actually came into play near the middle/back of the book. I loved each and every pag...more

This book is the sequil to the first Pendragon book. In this book Bobby Pendragon has traveled to a slightly futaristic world where they have learned to concentrate water into solid objects. The entire world is water terrain. He cannot travel with his friends from the previous world because the only one he made that could come could not swim.
In this world the man who tried to destroy the previous one was there as well engaging him in yet another battle. He makes even more friend...more

This book is the second in the series about Bobby Pendragon, who is a "Traveler" that goes to different territories (basically other worlds) and saves them from the brink of disaster. I love the sci-fi elements of the book. The Territory that Bobby travels to in this book, Cloral, is awesome. I love hearing about all the adventures Bobby goes on and the other worlds. The Bobby storylines are very engaging and exciting.

The Lost City of Faar picks up with Bobby's second adventure thwarting the evil Saint Dane, whose goal is to destroy all worlds and all times. This time he journeys to the water world Chloral, where he teams up with a local named Spader and his Uncle Press. Together, they must identify the turning point Saint Dane will attempt to exploit and counter his attempt to throw this world into chaos.

I thought the first 2 books in the Pendragon series were ok, but as soon as I read the 3rd book i realized that theres gonna be no end to the series. Let me explain, in every book, it starts out Pendragon goes to the new planet, in a new time. He gets there meets the things that guard the portals(its been a little while since i read this book so i cant remember specifics about names and stuff) and gets away. He then learns a little bit about the culture there, then the arch-enemy strikes(again f...more

Ok, I started this with cautious optimism. I was like, "Well, he managed a first, but let's see if he can do a second. Ha!" Turns out, he CAN. And I LOVE the second more than the first. I like Cloral more than Denduron, and though I love Alder, Spader is my favorite :D :D :D Again, the action WAS surprising. And it was amazing... awesome...
And still written with the awesome friendly-ness of Bobby's narration. Ya' know, I kinda like Bobby. He's done so believably. ...more

Better than the first- no language or kissing obsession or any romance at all actually-and lots more of the same kind of action and adventure. I have a feeling these books will start to feel repetitive (in fact they kind of already do). Not sure if I'll read the next one. I think younger kids might find it more enjoyable, but the writer uses such dumbbed down language (100x worse than the Olympian series) that I'd rather not have my kids waste their time on it.

Bobby Pendragon travels to his second territory in search of the evil Saint Dane to try and uncover a plot to destroy Coral. Bobby has grown up quite a bit in this book which automatically makes it much better than the first. There is a lot of imagination in MacHale's writing and a I appreciate his descriptions and inventive settings.

If only the rest of the series could have been this fantastic!!
Machale's narrative was fun, exciting and new. A lot of action and excitement for my younger self.
I don't remember much about it since I read it (over 5 years ago), but I remember wishing that the following books in the series were this good. They just went downhill from here, until I stopped after the 4th one.

(I'll try my best not to include spoilers...) Bobby continues the fight against Saint Dane when he follows the murderous demon to the tropical territory of Cloral. There, he meets Vo Spader, the (in a sense) newest Traveler. He also meets disaster and the only solution is the map of a dead man, secretiveness, and a lost city....

The Pendragon series was an unexpected surprise when I picked it up a few years ago. Now I'm re-reading the entire series and it is just as good as the first time. Some may think that its size or writing style best suits a middle schooler, however the book is still very enjoyable. In this book Bobby Pendragon continues his journies as a traveler trying to save the territories (different worlds) from total destruction by the evil Saint Dane. In this adventure, Bobby is on the world of Corral and ...more

I definitely liked this one better than The Merchant of Death. I loved the whole water theme and their ability to use water to make some of their stuff like bullets. I also really like their technology. D. J. Mac Hale has made an interesting book full of cool and sad surprises.

The Lost City of Faar is just as good as the first Pendragon book; The Merchant of Death. This book is funny, entertaing, full of action, and thrill. I can barely stop thinking about it just to write this review. This book is recommended to people who love Sci-Fi and Action Adventure stories.
